I know it sounds a bit trite, but this read like it could be the kernel of an MLP episode. Apparently Lauren even had an early story arc similar to this initially sketched out. It unfortunately was dropped and never made it into production.
I honestly wish this was not a short one-shot. I would have loved to read a longer story that dealt with her disability head-on (most other stories I have seen conjure up some deus ex machina to get her to fly) and her coming to terms with the fact that she will never fly and finding her identity and worth in something other than "that crippled pegasus".
All in all, I loved this little slice of life.

It may happen still. I'm going to guess that in the final season of the show the CMC will earn their cutie marks, and I think Scootaloo will get hers on the day she accepts that she will never fly. She can be everything she wants with that scooter of hers, she can be a daredevil just like Dash, and I'm sure that scooter will be her cutie mark.
As for your wishing that this was a longer fic.. I don't know when I'll get around to it, but I plan on writing a story featuring these two that will focus on Scoot's handicap. Thanks for reading and commenting!
