Hrm... I didn't really care for the outlandish Pinkie intro, it was a bit too much for my taste. Plus, how can she be meeting Cadence for the first time? I suppose this could be set before season three. The timing makes it kind of tight for that, but that would mean that the Canterlot wedding never happened.
I'm also surprised Iron Will has not changed up his gimmick, especially with how he failed with Fluttershy, not to mention that he's been to Ponyville before.

Note the alternate universe tag, and saying that this is connected to storm of Secrets. All my stories go by a timeline that keeps everything up to Canterlot Wedding then diverges.
Shining Armor and Cadance were engaged, but then two weeks before the wedding was due it was postponed indefinitely and without any explanation; (completely forget seasons 3-4), so none of Twilight's friends have met Cadance or Shining Armor yet. Trouble between Shining Armor and Cadance will be alluded to here (ex: Cadance is coming to Twilight's birthday but Shining Armor isn't) but is explained in SOS. (This is about nine months after the wedding was canceled.)
As for Pinkie; I want to be a writer and am using MLP to experiment with some things to see if they work or not, and doing things I know I probably won't be able to write in a serious novel, and I don't think she was that much crazier then she was in Cranky Doodle Donkey which was part of the inspiration for this.
As for Iron Will; he had a lot of people cheering/ signing up for his course, and only Fluttershy refused to pay him, so it's possible that overall Ponyville was a success, and so he didn't need to completely change his approach.

I am so confused what happened between cadance and Shining? What point in time are we at. Where the hell was rarity? I have no fucking clue what the hell is even going on in this story right now.

Read the description: this is set eight months after an alternate ending to season 2; the wedding was postponed without explanation, the reason for which is explained in Storm of Secrets.
What's happened to Rarity began with me thinking about the episode Sweet and Elite, how in three days she's breaking her prior commitment to Twilight, and lying to the Canterlot elite ect, but ended up turning good again. I wondered what if Rarity's friends hadn't come by and she'd stayed in Canterlot, became very popular/ influential but also became more and more self absorbed in herself and her fashion. Essentially, she's gone crazy, (and Rainbow Dash is a Wonderbolt.)
What's going on now is Cadance is angry at Shining Armor, and Iron Will is about to ask her to pretend to be his lover, so he can fake his death protecting her, so his brother will go home and tell everyone that he died an honorable death.

It's been been on hold for almost a year now since other things kept getting in the way, but I want you to know I haven't abandoned it; and it's especially been coming back to mind since only recently I've learned that it does provide important back story to Limits of the Horizons.
Hopefully maybe February I'll finish it?
