Truth be told, my original plan never had a continuity. Of course, this fic's original spot was supposed to be before the events of "Magic's Dawn." I ended up writing that one first because, while I knew which ship I wanted to do, and the title, I had no idea how to go about it. Once I wrote the other fic as well as chapter one of this one (Chapter one was originally a stand-alone!), it kinda pieced itself together.
Not to worry though, my current plans involve writing several one shots starring filly Twilight, so we'll probably see some involving her, Fluttershy, and all her other "mamas" too.
Especially once I get all the major issues sitting in my Fluttershy fic sorted out.

425665 Celestia explained in Magic's Dawn that all alicorns are raised as regular ponies and mature into their powers. Celestia was a pegasus and Luna was an earth pony. So while she's an alicorn through genetics, until she can control the powers, she's entirely unicorn. The reasons for Twilight's madness was because the "trueform" potion woke up her latent alicorn powers too early.

Actually I was thinking about it a bit after I posted, I need to go back and make sure I didn't accidentally give two different explanations (One to Twilight, one to the others.). I think I may have Twilight's version being "It would look weird for an alicorn to live among normal ponies." But I'll look into that tomorrow. 
I do also have a different fic that I'm planning out involving the awakening of Celestia and Luna, taking place at the first sealing of Discord (Which also expands on an idea presented early on in chapter 1 of this fic!)
