I assumed bits are minted from brass, not gold.  That's partly because the "brass bit" is a common low-value coin in D&D and some other fantasy game settings (and FiM draws some things from D&D lore, such as the various monsters).  The other thing is, if a "bit" is a gold coin, then gold must be an unbelievably common and low-value metal in Equestria.  Which I guess is possible, because look how they treat gems after all...  but still, it doesn't seem right to me.  Something needs to be valuable in their world!

I've never heard of the brass bit being used in D&D. I thought it went copper < silver < gold, with 10 cp equalling 1 sp, and 10 sp equalling 1 gp. That's how it worked in D&D 3rd Edition, anyway, which is the only version I've really played. I know there was a brief stint where there was electrum between silver and gold (I think there was 5 ep to each gp) back in AD&D days, and platinum's fairly common in most editions too (with 10 gp to each pp in all editions).

Anyway, the point being that I've never heard of brass being used as a currency, and the Equestrian coins definitely look like they're made of gold. Given how common gemstones seem to be, it wouldn't surprise me if gold was ludicrously common.

Mmn, still, I see the point. I think I'll change things to be a few silver bits and use the D&D 3rd Edition assumption that silver is the common denomination, i.e., 1 sp is basically 1 dollar.

Not lying, per se. I think she honestly believes that the Apples are a struggling farm, or at least that the success they have could disappear in an instant. But given their monopoly on zap apples, their cider being good enough to get ponies to line up for hours to taste, and the fact that Sweet Apple Acres is but one holding of what appears to be a very large family franchise...I don't think Applejack's beliefs match up to the shown reality very well.

But again, though, I don't think she's lying.

I think your headcanon for Applejack is completely silly, but let's roll with it for now. My favorite part was your cut from Trixie being sarcastic and bitchy straight into the themesong about friendship and magic.

Looking forward to seeing the hulking and violent Raindrops again, and the rest of the bunch, as well as how the other four of the canon six are doing. It seems impossible that Trixie (as a new pony in town) could avoid Pinkie Pie for long , and Rarity will instantly gravitate toward anypony in a giant hat ...

I really enjoyed Boast Busted and I was looking forward to reading more of this Alternate Universe. And I was not disappointed, far from it, I really enjoyed this first chapter. I wonder what other surprises you have in store for us? The Apples aren't a struggling farm, which again doesn't make sense, even in the show's canon given they have exclusive rights to Zap apple Jam and seem to be the sole provider of Apple Cider in Ponyville.

I can imagine when you reveal Sweet Apple Acre's the farm will actually be very modern. Rows upon rows of Apple trees, Applejack being a bit more like a tycoon and employing loads of extra help. Also wouldn't it be a nice twist if the Orange's were the one's struggling? Or they were the unsophisticated cousins?

Also it's hard to imagine Pinkie being anything but the party pony, but what if she ran a firm that organized party's along with her two un-named sisters? Or keep Pinkie as she is, perhaps she's a universal constant .

I look forward to seeing how Trixie met Raindrops, Derpy & Cherilee. Also Trixie's confrontation with the Apple's is a must see for me . So yeah excellent chapter, looking forward to the next one

Very good, here. I like the differences, like trains, the unease at midday and such. And yeah, I don't even like apples. Variety is the spice of life!

As for Trixie, very nice here. She's one of my favorites from the show.

I love what you've done with this universe. To think something as simple as a different alicorn going rogue would effect things his much.

Ditzy Doo has inherited a slight fourth-wall breaking tendency from Pinkie Pie, mostly Pinkie Pie's ability to always have the right thing on-hoof, no matter how unlikely it seems.

Incidentally, I'm interpreting what it means to be a holder of an Element of Harmony slightly different from the normal continuity. Have you noticed it yet? It's been most obvious with Trixie's interactions with Carrot Top and Ditzy Doo so far.

Well, at least Trixie has managed to kill two birds with one stone here. That's something. As for the Flutterdash thing, I don't honestly think that she's going to give a brass razoo after Corona shows up.

It's fascinating but so heartbreaking to see the canon Mane Six as jerks and background ponies. Doubly so because they're still in-character.

I'm dreading the potential Dinky-centric storyline where the Cutie Mark Crusaders are antagonists, if they even form.

Well, my speculation is that once Trixie interacts with one of the bearers, she unintentionally opens up to them, as though a spiritual link connects them, making it easier for her to get along. Seeing as how they are going to haft to get along later, this is important in her finding out the magic of friendship.

I've noticed you seem to have... issues with spelling Pinkie's name. It's not spelled with a 'y', it's spelled with an 'ie'. Other than that, no other errors I saw (I'm a Derpy Hooves person, so I just replace every 'Ditzy' with 'Derpy' when I read). Your use of Cheerilee is interesting, to say the least. Overall a good chapter, though who is the navy blue earth pony you used in the candy shop? I could pick out who everypony was except him (Scootaloo, Sweetie Belle, Doctor Whooves, and Pokey Pierce).

i just want to say that the use of silver as their currency makes me happy.

the bits shown in the show always looked gold to me. which, considering the immortal sun goddess, made perfect sense. gold has constantly been used to represent the sun throughout our own history, why should it be any different in equestria? not to mention sunlight is often referred to as 'golden rays'.

this, however, is a world that fears the sun and reveres the moon. i see no reason the ponies here would want to be reminded of the sun every time they thought about or did anything with money, especially when there's so vivid a memento every day (the noontime respite). besides which, moonlight has a silvery sheen. so, with an immortal moon goddess running the show, silver is just more appropriate.

Excellent chapter! I have to say I'm of two minds about your story and the universe it's set in. On the one hand it's about other characters being the Elements of Harmony which is certainly interesting and your reasons are quite believable. At the same time I have this sense of...I don't quite know what...at seeing the original mane six deconstructed, as it were. But I have to say that you made them (the original mane six) all very believable and didn't turn them into jerks which is what someone in your place could've easily done in order to justify why Lyra, Bon Bon, Raindrops, Ditzy, etc. are more deserving of being the Elements. Even the original Mane Six are written very well and are portrayed as real, rounded characters who for one reason or another, simply don't 'mesh' with Trixie.

The plot is very interesting, the writing and characterization is phenomenal and it is funny as heck. So I'm gonna totally keep reading. Good luck!

Something I thought of while reading through. Given Trixie's personality and some evidence that she's on thin ice with Luna already, I think her fears of being dismissed are fairly accurate. While Twilight really doesn't have to fear reprisal from Celestia (really, all she was given was a light scolding for turning the whole town upside down), Luna comes across as not having the same amount of patience. So, Trixie has legitimate reasons to get depressed about how things are going.

Also, what do you think of having Trixie's full name confirmed? Trixie Lulamoon all the way! Guess I'll have to just get used to it.

Let me repeat what most readers already said: You did a good job at making Mane Six antagonistic toward the Luna Mane Six without turning them into different characters or one-dimensional jerks. However I’m conflicted: I like this alternative universe in which the Mane Six are more flawed but I also feel a bit bad to see them act as antagonists despite. What is this story doing to me?

There were some hints in this story that Carrot Top isn’t happy with the food monopole of the Apple Clan. So hopefully we’re going to see a variant of the “Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000” in which Carrot Top competes with Sweet Apple Acres for the exclusive festival supply rights.  

Anyway, I can’t wait for Corona to show up and screaming that the Day will last forever. Will she find better ways to stop the progress of the Luna Six than NMM? Will she be saved or just escape to fight another day?  Are we going to see a Celestia version of “Luna Eclipsed” in which Celestia speaks in the Royal Canterlot Voice? So many potential.

My only fear is that Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon will be the good guys, with the CMC’s as their antagonists. *shudder* Sure it could work, but still….

This universe isn't a mirror universe. There are changes from the mane universe, but at least insofar as character personality is concerned, they're meant to be subtle, with only two* major exceptions (Celestia and Luna). SIlver Spoon and Diamond Tiara are still fundamentally the same ponies, so I don't think that they could ever really serve as protagonists or victims. Similarly, fundamentally the CMCs are still the same ponies, even if the Crusade itself doesn't begin.

It's more like...ever watch Star Trek: the Next Generation? Remember the episode "Yesterday's Enterprise?" It's like that universe. A little darker, maybe, but everypony is still fundamentally themselves.

I could actually see the Crusaders becoming bullies awfully easily, with only a few minor tweaks to their canon personalities. Apple Bloom follows in Applejack's footsteps all the time, and Applejack's paranoia about other families driving them out of business could easily translate to Apple Bloom acting aggressively towards other children whom she even suspects of making fun of her or her family. Plus, she's probably the strongest child in her class, what with all the farm work she does. Scootaloo is already aggressive and rambunctious in canon, and doesn't take insults lightly. Sweetie Belle generally goes along with whatever Apple Bloom and Scootaloo do. The Crusaders could turn into the school's bully brigade without even realising it, and one can bet that Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon would be their first targets.

I really feel sorry for all of the usual mane cast in this story, primarily because they don't have each other. It's their relationships with each other that stop Fluttershy from being a complete recluse, Rainbow Dash from being a hyper-aggressive defender of her few friends, Applejack and Rarity from being completely lost in their careers, and Pinkie Pie from losing perspective. And without these five around, we get The Brilliant And Clueless Twilight, with no friends at all.

I love how you've written Ditzy Doo in this chapter. I was expecting something similar to canon Fluttershy, but she's really very forceful in her particular brand of kindness. It takes a lot of guts to stand between Rainbow Dash and Trixie when they're both angry.

Why would you intentionally reference Cupcakes? Was it really necessary? I don't think so. And Ditzy and Derpy are two completely different ponies. Just saying.

I watched a few episodes as kid but I can’t remember that one. But I do remember that one Mirror Universe episode of DS9 in which (most of) the good guys were baddies and it’s obvious that your story doesn’t takes place in such a universe. There's some disagreement over whether Ditzy and Derpy are different ponies or not, with good cases for and against either way. I personally choose to believe Ditzy Doo is her real name, especially seeing as Ditzy Doo's Dismally Derpy Day is my personal head-canon for the character.

I loved Boast Busted and after reading it I discovered this fic...  

Wow! You did impressive job portraying differences that thousand years of Luna's rule brought to Equestria. Small details like fear of midday or changes in political system really help building background for consistent and interesting world. I wonder what kind of representative was Blueblood. Unless you plan to redeem him too, I doubt many ponies would have a good impression of him.

Liked an alternative portrayal of Mane 6. Even without changing their personalities, you could easily relate to ponies who would consider them annoying in certain circumstances. Well, except Fluttershy, who gets pardoned because of her cuteness...

And that blue pony with star cutie mark... I have a feeling she would be somehow important to the plot. Random guess: was she Luna's avatar or otherwise related to her?

Special mention goes to scene with drunk Trixie doing her impression of Londo Mollari. It was absolutely hilarious!

I can't wait to see Corona making her return to Equestria and Trixie's reaction to it.

So now Trixie just wants to get herself fired and spite Luna as much as possible in the process.

Oh, I love you. Fantastic chapter, but it seems like this fic is getting more adult with each chapter. While I would prefer you keep with the age restriction of the show, I can't deny the results are hilarious!

At least she wasn't banished and imprisoned? I guess Luna doesn't do that. At least she wasn't banished and fed to griffons!

Hnnnn......so far, she's managed to piss off Applejack and Rarity (who kinda deserved it), alienate Rainbow Dash (who sort of doesn't), terrify Fluttershy (which is way easy) and confuse the Sun out of Pinkie Pie (again, easy.) I can see how she'll become the pony who finds Alt-Twilight the stuff suicide notes are made of. (That being said, I doubt Zecora would be anything other than 'that zebra who goes overboard with the sun protection.')

Wow, Trixie is kind of mean. I hope she makes friends with five other ponies who can show her the true meaning of friendship. She's trying to do the right thing by Carrot Top and Cheerilee, though, which is nice.

I do wonder whether Luna really is just trying to get rid of Trixie, or if she does have some kind of plan involving Trixie finding the Elements and defeating Corona.

I really like the way we can see the personality development between Trixie in this story and Trixie in "Boast Busted". Keep it up!

Considering griffons usually live on mountains, I doubt any non-pegasus would be comfortable.

This was a great chapter. I enjoy reading about Trixie, organising the festival so effectively. Well she's being more effective now, and making some friends, Cherilee and Carrot Top are on their way to being her friends definitely. Also if you include Duke Blueblood at some point, I'd like to see him as a worn down Stallion. Broken from years of tedium and only now starting to enjoy life again.

Perhaps make him less of an ass, compared with the shows version. Anyway, I look forward to the next chapter.

Still very funny, very creative use of Trixie's character and how she interacts with others.

I see I was partially correct in calling Trixie's banishment from Luna's court. Though, I'm sure there's another horseshoe to drop down the line.

Trixie certainly makes a more interesting main character due to her flaws. Twilight always did come across as a goody-fourhooves. Not that either is better than the other, just a different take.
