Spike thought he was done with Garble. After the botched egg raid, he supposed he'd seen the last of him. Hopefully he'll never have to see him again.
Too bad for him, because when Garble strolls into town with some very interesting news, Spike's gonna end up seeing a whole lot more of him than he expected. Of course, that comes with its own set of problems.

History lesson: The saying "blood is thicker than water" is derived from a similar sounding Roman saying "the blood of the covenant is thicker than the waters of the womb" surprisingly the original Roman saying means the exact opposite of the current rendition.
"Put your integrity before your family" is basically what the original means

Hate to nitpick, but I just really hate when people use the phrase 'blood is thicker than water' like that.
The full version of that saying is 'the blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb' meaning that the family you choose is more important than who you're ACTUALLY related to. In this case it would bean that Spike would stick with Twilight, rather than Garble, if Garble actually IS Spike's brother that is.
For one horrible, lurching moment I dreaded to think I'd see a romance tag on this.

Oddly enough, blood is thicker than water actually refers to friends you make in battle (blood-brothers) vs the water of the womb and saying that friends are more important than whose your relative. I wonder if Diamond tried to hire Discord.
Discord is taller than Garble after all and could literally one-shot the entire planet with snap of his fingers.

Judging by the title and the description, I think I can gather what this is. Hilarious, I love it already. On my read later list, since I don't have time right now.
The chemistry they share is more brother/sister, or just friends. Scarcely has Twilight given the impression that she's a mother figure to Spike. More like a sister with motherly instincts. Not your interpretation, I see, but it does make me feel that the story warrants an Alternate Universe tag.
S1;E11:
Flaws aside, it's a a somewhat intriguing fic for the time being. It's always great to see a Spike story in the feature box, and right now we've got four in one day! Very nice. Unfortunately for this one, it's riddled with errors that kept pulling me out of the story. Additionally, it's only intriguing in the most basic sense. The first 6K+ words has little to interest me beyond its hook: Garble comes to Ponyville, says he's Spike's brother. That's it for now. The foreshadowing in which they begin acting like brothers is pretty obvious, and the concept of Spike discovering his family seems to have been dismissed. On the bright side, it does look like there will be some fun in watching Garble get used to Ponyville (or rather, Ponyville get used to Garble).
In addition to the Alternate Universe tag, I would also recommend switching out the Comedy tag for Slice of Life. Comedy requires actual humor, stuff that makes me laugh. There were a few moments I found amusing, but there is not enough humor to label this fic a comedy.
