Private comes to investigate but soon finds trouble in a new foe, the new Chief of Police Gunry Insight, who's determined to make sure Private stays out of cases. Secret deals, cutthroat coaches, and a lost child all dot this case. Just how far is one willing to go to get what they want?

And our new jerkass introduces himself by promptly failing Investigation 101 whereby he seems to think that possessing motive is sufficiently damning evidence in and of itself, particularly since, if we're going by motive, both the victims have lines of ponies with plenty of motive to go after them that go around the block...twice. So...how precisely did this guy end up in charge of the police?
Before even seeing this story, I can see why Private has such a .....colorful.....view on Vice, his old stomping grounds.

The chapter begins and it just makes Insight even more of an ass than I already thought he was. As for the case, should be interesting to see where it go.
Hmm... I have a feeling that Insight has some good reasons, other than the fact that the two ponies he arrested were murdered, to be very hostile and an ass towards Private... Something tells me he may have his own agenda to himself like Vegas did... but why? Private did nothing to him, but he is about hell bent on keeping him off cases that end up being solved...
This... is going to need a conspiracy board... because I KNOW that Insight has some sort of agenda... but I don't know if it deals in corruption, personal issues, or if he wants to make the police look good. But I will try to figure out what is it about Insight that puts him against private...
You would think Twilight could just report Insight's behavior to Celestia, but that would make her seem like a whiny princess, which would be bad.

although i could tell the new chief would love nothing better than to watch private behind bars for the rest of his life, i can feel that that might not happen...well, at least not as easily and quickly as the chief would like. looking forward to more interactions between the two of them.
it would be too easy to assume that haze spot might have had a hand, or hoof (pony puns), in marty's death, but at the same time anything could happen in these types of stories. heck, quick might end up having a twin brother that we don't know about who ended up doing the deed and is using the will and per nup to cover his tracks......though, thinking about it, that sounds way too farfetched.

excellent chapter man. great escape by the way and hell of a way to ruffle gunry's mane in the process. i know a few readers might think something suspicious about spera's sister, but i'm the same way when it comes to photos. There's that and the fact that it's still a bit too early to speculate anything about her.
