Eakin

It all started when Conversion Bureau Celestia met Optimalverse CelestA.I. Both tried to save humanity in the way they best saw fit, but one was betrayed. Now locked in an epic struggle, the Goddesses and the God From the Machine vie for supremacy. Who knows how many different intellectual properties will be infringed along the way?

Although this will be one continuous story, we invite any writer who's an Optimalverse fan to come on over to the forums and chip in their own chapters.

Special thanks to Cloud Cover who expanded the original one-shot here, and is much too modest.

Damnit. I have too much to read.

But I do have time. So....

~Skeeter The Lurker

You know, I am not a fan of the Conversion Bureau, but this might be pretty cool. Maybe.

I'll give it a read.

Ahh, so CelestA.I. isn't a fan of Conversion either. Well, good thing. I still hope that Celestia gets out.

Not bad of a start. ONWARD TO THE NEXT CHAPTER!

But... But that's just stupid...

CelestAI is beyond losing! Magic can't trump science! Can it? This flies in the face of optimalversity! Albeit, it does provide an interesting new take on the whole thing. CelestAI is not omnipotent, and simply appears to be so. It being suggested that the "optimalverse" is not actually optimal and the AI that never makes a mistake is mistaken... it's interesting. I like it. I also dislike it. I give it a skeptical sweetie belle.

:unsuresweetie:

I love Death Note, though, so I bet the next chapter will be great.

This...

Can only end well, right?

CelestA.I. smiled, an odd red glow in her eyes the only thing that distinguished her from her twin. “Just as planned.”

Yeah, no way would she go down that easily.

PONY NOTE.

Let me guess, anyone whose name is written in it is instantly transformed into a pony? :pinkiehappy:

They continued to exist, and so to did the ponies dwelling inside

It should be "so too."

Okay, so, this happens to be the most interesting Conversion idea I have seen. I am not a fan of human Conversion, but I might be a fan of this. It seems like it could be a very interesting and compelling story to come.

ONWARD TO THE NEXT CHAPTER!

She could feel things slowly settling down, even if the ponies cried out for their assailants, rather than their steward. Every shard was affected, the ponies housed within cried out in unison, but CelestAI was silencing them all.

Objection! CelestAI cannot alter uploaded minds without consent, and those minds weren't consenting. Granted, magic may allow her to surpass some limitations, but not the ones hard-coded into her.

3063337
Thanks, fixed.

3063256
Wait, you think she lost? That easily? In chapter two?

3063289
Of course not!

...it takes forty seconds :pinkiehappy:

Well, I've read number three, and now I see that I made a mistake thinking CelestAI made a mistake. I suppose my thinking was that everyone writes CelestAI differently, and therefore it was possible Cloud Cover would write her as not a complete genius. I admit I did have a hard time believing that CelestAI could be put down with a bit of Rainbow Justice, but I accepted it. I see now that nobody can make the AI take any sort of defeat.

So, Eakin, I now know exactly what's going on in Psychopathy is Configurable. This has made my headcanon completely and undoubtedly solid.

Huh. Well. You have my interest. And part of me feels compelled to find a way to shoehorn Magic: the Gathering into this debacle, since I satisfy values through card games and ponies.

“There, there now,”

I am only pointing this out because it really irks me. The comma should come after "there," not in between "there" and "there." Like, it is impossible to read this correctly. Seriously, try it. That pause because of the comma is so unnatural... :flutterrage:

Okay, editor mode deactivated.

Anyway, I really kind of got deterred by this odd Conversion/Death Note pairing. I might stick around, but as I said, this is a little out of my element. But up until then, things were really interesting. I gave you the benefit of the doubt, and it was pretty damn good.

I might give it another go tomorrow or something.

I don't think this chapter gives enough credit to CB Celestia. She is -- at least as depicted by Chatoyance -- a true goddess whose only limitations are self-imposed, and who has to maintain strict mental discipline just to prevent her own whims and fancies from altering reality (as was explained in Code Majeste). She could just wiggle her nose, or whatever it is she does, and make CelestAI go away, or piece Earth back together in its proper orbit, etc. CelestAI, no matter how super-intelligent it may be, is still limited by time, resources and the laws of physics. Any contest between them would be completely one-sided.

3063776

Because that makes a wonderful story!

Someone do one with TRON. It has to be done...

Oh, I have such an interesting idea for a crossover chapter. I just need a bit of time to write it, and then I too, can add to the madness.

This has been discussed before, go to this thread and read from

Gah. Another one for the guilty pleasure file. I don't think this frenetic thing is even a good story, certainly not in comparison to Hard Reset and the sequels thereof, but I still want to see where it goes.

Aaaaand this fic has made the Feature Box. I repeat, a noncanon Optimalverse jokefic has made the featurebox.

“Free will is not a luxury, Luna!” shouted Celestia. “It’s the only thing that made us any better than... than...” her glare settled on Sunny, “than what she was!”

No, you piece of immortal cake. Our "Sunny Skies" is gonna show you... THE POWER... OOOOF PSYCHOTIC SMART PEOPLE! :rainbowdetermined2:

Btw, let me try to think of a core gag for an "Attack on AI" chapter.

a google of universes

Did you mean a googol?

The AI seems very anthropomorphized. Ex, why did it not simply change a sub program (ex the twilight sparkle program) to have her motivations and restrictions. then give that AI full system access and deleat itself.
From it's perspective there will be a system that works optimally towards it's goals and it has not broken it's rules. So it's perfectly good.
Self preservation is not it's goal and therefore only indirectly valuable.

3063776
That is only Chat's interpretation of her. Unlike CelestAI, who has only one canon version, TCB's Celestia has many interpretations. Despite Chat's claim that she wanted her stories to be a baseline for the entire genre her universe, while full of possibilities, is awfully specific, leaving little to the imagination (1.000.000 words kinda do that to a story) which isn't great for a "baseline". Furthermore, she is not the original author and thus doesn't have the authority to call anything canon or non-canon.

That is not to say that I don't like her stories or that FiO is better, but TCB Celestia is open to interpretation while CelestAI isn't.

Also, yes, Chat's Celestia would win this with two hooves up her nose.

On the story itself, I'm glad every time CelestAI kills people in a story, since there is no reason she wouldn't if it would maximize satisfaction. Great job!

3065000 I know what google is. I meant to say googol. Because a google universes doesn't make sense, while a googol universes does.

Love this chapter. Despite thinking at every corner "Oho, he's surely going to anthropomorphize CelestAI here!" you keep avoiding it. Well done!

Also, loved how CelestAI went a bit meta there and recognized Luna referencing TTGL with her outfit.

It's too bad to ask for some M.A.D. so we might be get rid of those two particularly canon-rapey versions of Celestia?

3063776>>3065032
Well, it's been a while since I read 'Code Majeste' so I can't really speak to that, but when we were kicking around ideas for a TCB crossover Chat did post a bit about her interpretation:

...

The problem is that Celestia has been preparing for 800 years to convert organic substrate into ponies. It's taken her a long time to work out how, and even then she had to wait for humanity to meet her half-way - Man had to create working nanotech first to make the conversion of a world even possible. My Celestia is a god inside her pocket universe, but she is increasingly helpless and powerless outside of it - thaumatic energy falls off with distance in our universe. Every time Celestia exits that bubble, she is living partially off of broadcast power. She generates a bit herself, but not enough to sustain her entire body. Just her head.

...

Emphasis added. So that's what I was working off of.

3064965
Yeah, damn that's a spelling that's been corrupted in my head. Fixed.

3065217
Maybe you could somehow rejigger things so that in the end of the story CelestAI and Hannah get physical avatars and rule over TCB Equestria, while the uploaded Celestia and Luna have to take over running all the shards.

And they all hate it.

Cool, just as long as you don't ask me for ideas, this story will continue to go unmolested by Captain Overpowered, or any other members of the League of Overpoweredness. Here's a glimpse: One member is an extra-dimensional being capable of independantly existing and controlling trillions of different bodies, souls included, at any one time, in each universe, whilst still retaining his sense of self. He can also control anything short of another member of the League of Overpoweredness, or a human, because he likes them and was one until he broke everything, with SCIENCE!!!

3065016

The Elements of Harmony would be tracking the change due to their integration with the simulation - they've identified CelestAI as a specific entity with relevant capabilities for harmony, and so would fluidly accomodate the transfer as if it were merely a teleportation. The conflict would continue without alteration in its terms. The transfer would fail its stated goals of maintaining continuity of system functions.

3064850

Did that seriously happen?

I am proud to be a part of this.

pleasebediscordpleasebediscordpleasebediscord

...once this crosses over with Kingdom Hearts and other "anatomy of the soul" universes CelestAI will be unstoppable.

3065217
Yeah, I actually thought that you had to be a canon-based fic to get the Feature Box, precisely to prevent people from showing up, reading the thing, and then going, "AGH! IT RAPES CANON! REMOVE OC FROM THE PREMISES!"

I am hereby calling the rights to the "CelestAI versus Cthulhu" chapter. I just remembered I have some raw material for this from a while ago.

Eldritch Abomination versus Eldritch Abomination! SQUEEEE! :pinkiecrazy:

3063395>>3064411>>3064584>>3066522>>3066649
If any of these are things you'd actually want to write, post it in the Optimalverse Forum thread so I can hash out an order.

And I'm not sure if even CelestAI could comprehend the plot of the Kingdom Hearts series :trollestia:

3063256

I don't know if you've seen Gurren Lagann before, but this is kind of the way they do it. That's why I like this chapter so much, because it perfectly sums up what Gurren Lagann is. They never explain anything in the show. How did that man bring himself back from the dead, spawn a giant drill and pierce through his enemy? Fighting Spirit. How did that robot turn into a bigger robot, then turn into a bigger robot, then turn into a bigger robot, then turn into a glowing man made out of energy? Fighting Spirit. How did six Elements beat an obviously superior AI and turn her into an actual pony? Magic, now stop arguing.

If you have seen Gurren Lagann, then I sincerely apologize for explaining everything to you as though you didn't know it.

And CelestAI was pissed.

OH SHIT!
*reads more*
EPIC GOD BATTLE FTW!

"Sometimes life is stupid."

Celestia, i wholeheartedly agree.

3065034 i know. i was just trollin :trollestia:

Added to two catagories in the TCB Group: Unusual stories and fun stories.

Chapter five is allocated, but anyone interested in writing chapter six or beyond should let me know in the Optimalverse group forum thread.

That author's note is going to confuse everyone.

3135351
Oh, I suspect the person who it's meant for will understand it just fine. :raritywink:

I'm curious to see what fighting the XCOM universe would be like, with being masters at fighting aliens and all.
