Bookish Delight

I've moved on from Fimfiction. New works on AO3!

E

Twilight Sparkle and Pinkie Pie: two very different ponies, with two very different ideas of fun.

But when those ideas brush against each other, what comes of it will surprise them both.

It's good to see P3 back again.

This was so sweet  I really like the thought process here, too, well done! :raritywink:

I've missed it too. And I've only got... five more permutations to go before it's all done.
See you when the DeLorean gets here, I guess. :twilightsheepish:

Thanks! Though it's technically a non-thought process. :pinkiehappy:

Keep 'em coming. Your heartwarming works of fan-borne fiction always, uh... warm, my heart.

Dammit, that was so much smoother in my head.

I don't know why but this made me cry :pinkiesad2:
but not the sad cry the happy cry
this is beyond fantastic :pinkiehappy:

D'aww. It's great to see Twilight really enjoying herself, especially at something outside her usual comfort zone. I suppose we could all use a friend like Pinkie to encourage and reassure us at times like that. If I have any criticisms, it’s that Pinkie seems a little more coherent and straightforward than usual, but I guess she needed to be to give such good advice.

Anyway, I love stories like this - no angst, no great dramatic tension, just a simple, gentle conflict with a heartwarming ending that leaves me with a smile as big as Pinkie Pie's. :pinkiehappy:

Thanks!

You... really hit the core with your one issue with Pinkie, and my character prereader (who pretty much is Pinkie Pie) and I spent days discussing it before I released this:

I can't write Pinkie Pie. Like, at all. I love watching her in action, listening to what she says, and complaining that she exists. (Our relationship is complicated, yes.) But when it comes down to me writing her... I just can't do it. Worse, I have an ideal Pinkie Pie inside my head that I'd love to write, but it's nowhere near as randomwacky as the show's and thus would probably be classified as "OOC."

This is all because I'm a Twilight Sparkle at heart, and, well... you saw "Feeling Pinkie Keen," same as I. :pinkiehappy:

I like to think I did well under the circumstances, but yeah. Any discrepancies between her and her canon self are entirely my doing... and probably on purpose. :twilightsheepish:

2958023 If it's any consolation, Pinkie acted perfectly in-character in this fic; it's just her dialogue that threw me off. (I just happen to be very fond of Pinkie, so I'm more of a stickler when it comes to fanon depictions of her.) At any rate, I like the character you showed us here, even if she's not exactly the same Pinkie I know and love.

You know, Twilight reminds me of myself here. I'm always thinking, all the time, instead of actually doing things. Sometimes I worry too much about failure.

Funnily enough, my three most successful fics are the ones I wrote without worrying, enjoying every paragraph and having fun. You'd think I'd learned the lesson by now... :facehoof:

I liked this, it was very sweet and it made me think. I can't be like Pinkie all the time either, but maybe it's time for me to live in the moment a little more.

Thanks for writing this.

P.S.: I too find Pinkie to be very difficult to write.

Hey, it takes years of practice to not think! :pinkiehappy: Same with worrying about failure. Fun fact: Pinkie in this is pretty much parroting what both my friends and most of my family tell me on a yearly basis.

...I'm such a Twilight. :twilightsheepish:

Thanks a bunch for the comments! Though it certainly surprises me a bit to learn that Pinkie's tough writing for you too since she's your favorite one! Just imagine her talking to you next time your brain gets ready to shoot down an idea. Might be surprised at what you get done.

3034385 Cruel irony, isn't it?

I wrote Pinkie a few times and I guess that I did it right (or at least, no one complained :twilightsheepish: ) but most of the time I just can't do it, I fail at putting her character into words. Or maybe it's that I'm too afraid of writing her wrong
(see? Fear of failure again :facehoof: )

Thanks for the advice  I'll give it a try!

Ms. Pie, there's a Mr. Rodgers and a Mr. Hammerstein here to see you... :trollestia:

For the record, I thought it was a pretty good characterization of Pinkie.

Thanks.

And yeah, honestly, I really do wish the fanfic medium allowed for composed songs. I'd actually try!

The happies
As someone who's never really been able to skate -- my class in grade school would go a couple of times each winter, but I forgot how to skate every time I stepped off the ice -- I can really feel Twilight here.

And this perfectly articulates why they're Best Ponies. And why I ship them.

I like this portrayal of Pinkie how she's supporting Twilight.

This was wonderful and so are you.
Also-they're totally skating to this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZBrALhb8uiQ
Also-that was so totally, totally, perfectly Pinkie.
