StapleCactus

"No time for goodbye," he said as he faded away. "Don't put your life in someone's hands; they're bound to steal it away. Don't hide your mistakes, 'cause they'll find you, burn you."

Ponyville is an easy town to live in. Sure, there's the occasional panic caused by some otherworldly problem or earth-shattering event, but everyone needs something to write with and somewhere to lay for an introspective moment. But all it took for my own world to come crashing down is one mare forgetting her receipt.

I just hope I can pick up the pieces.

Had me at Davenport.

Seems to be a growing trend to write 1st person Davenport stories full of ennui.

I was unaware there even was a trend that specific. Are you sure that's a trend? I don't think that's a trend. It's oddly specific... :twilightblush:

Fantastirific story so far!

Hehe ... I liked the part with the liquor *stupid grin*

Oh yes, I see this is another story in the "first person Davenport ennui" trend.

Oh this is going to be good.

couldn't help but laugh out loud at the rum chugging then jumping out the window. good job!

I like the 'distracted self-narration' it's interesting to see someone trying something so unusual. Typically narration is done from 'omnipotent observer' or 'subconscious narrator' and I like that you're breaking the trend.

A true author knows when to make fun of his readers.

Although my characterization of Davenport is a comic one, I loved this story. I love anything with Davenport in it. He's literally my favorite pony. And this is one of the better Davey stories I've seen. Congrats, bro.

You can't make Davenport leave, Pinkie! He will bring all you bastards down with him!

Is it just me or was that letter from Pinkie really condescending?

3441268

It was. I had this thought in my head like Pinkie was trying to cheer him up, but then Pinkamena voiced her thoughts on the situation. So, the whole letter turned into a mess of cheer and condescension. Then again, I have absolutely no idea what I'm going to do about that, so don't hope for some well-thought out plan to deal with it later. :twilightsheepish:

Woah, Pinkamena, harsh gurl.

What.....

Get up! You're going to let her win and just leave town? See that may be the best thing for your life, but now it's about the principle of the thing!

So are we going to kill Pinkie or what?

Pinkie... what you have done is unforgiveable and you will pay!

One way or another! :twilightangry2:

2686923 I have seen this kind of narration attempted many times, very few of those times were as successful as this. I do Beleive we have found ourselves a good read.

Are you guys seriously not noticing the trend? He has some kind of mental stigmatic that is causing him to mistake words for something else. Pinkie didn't say that in the letter, just like he mistook the construction worker for asking about the shop rather than the hospital... >.>
