Von Snootingham

The Chief Defender of International War Crimes at the World Court in The Hague. He also trains egrets & flies an ornithopter. He currently lives in a van down by the river & is personally unpleasant.

T

Gayle is a fitness nut. Steve is a professional layabout. Gayle is super motivated, Steve is super not. The two are an unlikely pair of roommates, a real life odd couple. While they're such opposites, they're also an unlikely pair of firm, if antagonistic, friends. They also share a special birthday...

So of course, things get interesting, as things are wont to do in stories. On their 25th birthdays, they start noticing... changes. Are those wings Gayle is sprouting, and is that a beak? Is Steve growing a horn on his head... but losing a "horn" somewhere else? Why do the names Gilda and Lazy Bones sound familiar? Time to get the hell out of Dodge! In their quest to find a safe haven they'll stumble across a certain pair of twin brothers and a whole motley crew of other Equestrian castaways in what might be the most bizarre road trip ever! Of all time! And is that love blooming between our intrepid heroes?

A side story in the Five Score, Divided by Four universe.

ALOT of swearing. So beware, if that sort of thing bothers you. Seriously, the main character swears like a pirate on shoreleave.
(The first four chapters were proofread and edited by themultiversewatcher, but since then it's been the incredible and... always interesting PingSquirrel.)

Whelp, you're off to a great start! Keep up the good work! :pinkiehappy:

And I thank you, sir! Good to see someone with good taste! Not only evolving your Pikachu for the stat gains, but putting him in an extremely dapper suit? Fantastic.

Well I'm feeling good now. Now watch as ten thousand people descend upon me and Dislike.

it's raichu (sorry had to do this) and let's see what we've got here

2575714
I know. He evolved his Pikachu INTO a Raichu. I am Pokemon Master. I can still sing about half the Pokerap by heart. And thanks for the comment.

Dude, your story is great, I could only imagine how you're the only person not getting bombarded by dislikes, like me, Excuse my unintentional pun, puns are just my thing

Well, this looks promising. Especially since you get to devise the human to griffin sequence. Fun times! Definitely looking forward to more.

Yep. That was one of the first things I did was writing down an hour by hour timeline of the transformations. Someone's lucky enough to able to keep their fingers. Lucky her.

Your summary has me intrigued, this bodes well for the story. I'll read this later.

This is good. I'm not normally into gayle's personality but you made me like her  don't discourage yourself your a good author with much potential. Keep it up :pinkiehappy:

/looks up from tying noose.
You really think so? Thanks for saying so! Guess I don't need this thing now.

Ok 1 thing- I have never seen lazy bones. Does anyone know what he looks like?

2586022
She's an OC I created for this story. I figure, not everyone can be a major player from the show. And surely, the manifestation of chaos isn't going to limit his mayhem to just a handful of ponies. Hence, I've got a couple of ponies lined up for this story that I made up for this expressed purpose. We'll see more of her later, but for now, here's a sneak peak of what's coming with what she looks like:

I just realised, how your story's two characters are Similar to mine, My Friends is really active and sportive, While the only things that gets me off my butt are: Video Games, Breaking the Laws of Physics and having Insane unexplainable fun, which is why I chose for my character to turn into Pinkie Pie, just because screw physics

2591845

Oh trust me, there is much more to these characters than just what you've seen so far. Stay tuned!

This has to be one of my favorite side stories in the Five Score Divided by Four universe.
Gayle's personalty is just so entertaining.

2592135
Thanks. Personally, I find her fairly irritating. But what can I say? Sometimes you don't pick your characters, your characters pick you (and they have a mind and personality of their own).

Awesome way to end a story, I cannot wait to read more of it, seeing as this is the first story with Gilda in it, I have read a few about Lazy Bones, but that's besides the point. I really enjoyed to story and will continue to. Keep up the fantastic work!

2592149
You did?:derpyderp2:
That might be sliiightly impossible, since I made Lazy Bones up for this story. :twilightsheepish:

God I really need to work on my five score fic man but it's becoming difficult.

2592800

Don't push yourself. I've found that writing has to be sincere. If you force it, it doesn't come out particularly well. If you write something just because you think you have to, it shows. Only when you're actually feeling the story does it really come to life.

2593061

It also doesn't help when I write three other fics at the same time.

2586022 Ok thanks very much. I always like to know what characters look like when i read a story
now on to reading the story.

2592168

Well, I wouldn't say that. The name is either way too familiar and five score divided by four is real. Or I am some kind of amazing psychic and this is just dejavu.

2595207
You must be psychic. :pinkiegasp:QUICK! What are the winning Powerball numbers? It's a record jackpot and I needs me a slice of that 600 million pie!

2592168 well I just came across this one browsing Devian art. But I think I like your character more actually.fc02.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2012/220/6/4/lazy_bones_by_kimorah-d5aefmq.png

2598251 yeah that's exactly what I thought when I saw it on google images :pinkiesick:

Alright, I really like this story so far. Just after reading the first chapter I already feel like this belongs among the top stories in the 5s/4 group.

The world is painfully boring and nothing amazing ever happens

Shut your lying mouth, boy. You have the privilege of living on the same planet as the mantis shrimp.

Anyway, looking forward to more. Especially Gayle's reaction to turning into something pony-related.

Am I the only one who thinks the changes are happening too quickly?

2606344

Holy shit, man. You're my new favorite person for showing me this. I have been converted to the true way: the worship of the mantis shrimp. I love little tidbit factoids like this. A personal favorite is The Great Pig War, wherein America and Britain almost went to war for a third time over one dead pig.

2607444

Yeah, probably. But expect it to actually start coming even faster. What I'm writing right now, I was thinking to myself, "Jeez, I maybe need to slow this the hell down." But really, as I see it, there's not much to do with the intermediary stages. Physically, they're very short, so there's not much sense on getting too attached. The final form is the one that we're going to be seeing for the long run, so why beat around the bush? And situationally, there's not much difference between the middle stages and the end. Once they've started and have any noticeable changes it becomes a game of "we need to stay hidden" just as much as if they're complete. But disregard all that, because what it comes down to is that I'm just going by the official timeline laid out here and here. The whole process takes about about 60 hours, and Gayle is about 40 in.

2607571 Ah. Didn't know about the timeline. Thanks!

And Gayle has just doomed them both with that last sentence.:facehoof:

My question is, what's gonna happen about Ellen? Will Gayle try to get her to go along (Not sure how that would turn out), or just disapear and bring about heartbreak to both?

I solve “fucking problems”.

Putting it in quotes like that makes her sound like some sort of half-griffin Dr. Ruth.
Which is actually kind of fantastic.

In any case, for all the exposition, I'm still enjoying the story. Definitely looking forward to more. Especially when Gayle realizes she gets to fly.

2633764
Oh, yes. I've been looking forward to that so much myself. This is actually weird for me since because this is the first time I've ever written a serialized story and the first time I've posted my writing for such a large audience, I'm just as excited to get to some of these later parts as you are. The only difference is I have an inkling of what's coming. Gayle getting to fly is something I'm really jazzed about. For all of her bluster, Gayle is actually a very damaged person who's had some real shit in her past, so I'm so looking forward to giving her some joy.

Gayle, anything that happens to you in whatever chapters may follow is ENTIRELY your fault for asking that particular question at the end :trollestia:

Totally looking forward to when she becomes full griffon. Great work so far! :moustache:

What could possibly go wrong?

They're doomed.

2641151why do people say that? When ever anybody says that something bad is bound to happen.

Rereading, still loving. Gayle may have been a challenge for you, but I say you more then passed it. She's absolutely hilarious to read about(actually knew a girl back in college that acted just like her) and I'm looking forward to when this fic sees its next update since I'm eager to see how she'll take being full griffon :trollestia:

2667419

I admit I've been slow to update the next chapter. It's been over a week since my last update. I'm at a scene break about 3400 words in and trying to work out what to do on the other side of it, plus fit a particular conversation in somewhere. Not to mention I've been extremely busy with work and social matters lately, I'm also trying to draw illustrations for all the chapters so far and character bios I plan on putting up. (I know I know, work on the story before the supplemental stuff. But I've been in a very artsy mood lately.)

So yeah, I apologize for the delay.
