One lonely night, Vinyl decides to use her old two-way radio to relieve the tedium. In doing so, she stumbles upon the voice of 'Adi,' who has a story so crazy Vinyl isn't willing to believe it.

But Adi is desperate, so desperate that Vinyl knows something really is wrong. Can her words help Adi overcome whatever is really happening? Even if she can instill hope in this stranger, is hope worth anything against seemingly insurmountable odds?

All Vinyl can do is sit before her radio and talk. Perhaps it will be enough.

Despite the challenges, discomfort, and dangers, I wanted to be a railway pony. I wanted a fine steam engine like #3803. I wanted to be like Highball.

Far from home, she now must go through the rigors of Junior Guard Cadet Summer Camp, sleeping in the dirt and dealing with all manner of ponies that have no idea of just how great she is. Dusk Shine still lives, and he wanders the wasteland of unfinished stories and forgotten dreams at the bottom of the universe, attempting to put his world back together. The price to remake his home may be greater than he can bear, but one name still guides him: Twilight Sparkle.

Two paths draw close once more, not to run side by side, but meet each other head-on.
