The rite of the phoenix is one of the most celebrated moments among the sun-gazers of Solaria. For with the hatching of a new phoenix, comes the ascension of a new phoenix-born: a mortal chosen by the phoenix to be its new life partner and guardian. Only those with both strength and purity of their inner fire can draw the attention of a hatchling phoenix, so only the best of the best can ever hope to be chosen.

To one young orphan girl named Sunset Shimmer, she could only dream of witnessing the ascent of one of Celestia's chosen. As the day approaches, she learns that she will be able to, as she has been selected by the crown as one of the girls to serve at the event.

Little did she know that this would be the seminal event of her life, and change her fate forever.

My name's Sun Glow. I'm a Pegasus working at the Baltimare Weather Department because that's the only place that will take me. The only thing people care about is that I look like a Pegasus version Princess Celestia and I hate it! Day in, Day out, getting mistaken for her, getting comments about it, being denied jobs because of it and a lot of accusations of being a Changeling. I hate it! I want it changed but nopony can change but there's one pony that probably can: the Princess herself.

I never asked for this look and I've had it since birth. But all I know right now is that if the Princess can't change it, nopony can.

During a routine visit to Equestria to see Princess Twilight, Sunset decides to bring her pet Ray along with her. Only... she wasn't quite expecting what he would turn into on the other side of the portal...

"Hello there. I am Ms. Conductor and I bet you know my distant cousin MR. Conductor." Well he isnt the only one in charge of maintaining a fleet. No. If you follow the sun as the crow flies from Shining Time, then you'll arrive at the small valley town of Gossamer. Now take an hour's hike to Lonely mountain and that's where I live. Its my job to monitor a magical railway whose tracks happen to end in this mountain. One short blow on the whistle and you arrive at the most beautiful place in my opinion...Equestria. Join me and my new friend Lauren(Laurie) as we ride the rails and other fun adventures."
