The world has died and is nothing more than ash and dust. The land of Equestria is a far off memory along with those who once inhabited it. Wandering the empty land is the sole survivor of the cataclysm that brought about the death of the world. Yet this sole survivor is also the harbinger of the world's death. In the final moments of the last living thing in the world, the story of how the world died is told. One of many ways the story could be told and one of many ways it could end. This is the day the sun set for the last time.

Celestia woke up late and is feeling pessimistic about her day. A couple meetings later, she decides that this has been the shortest bad day in the history of her rule. Simply put, nothing has gone right. So, when Discord appears with a simple answer to her problems, what could this solution be that has slipped past the knowledge of the oldest pony in Equestria?

I had a pretty good life. They called me Spit Shine, I worked in the palace, cleaning this, doing that. Hell, I even got to talk to the Princess, and learned all sorts of interesting stuff. It was stimulating, prestigious, and hey, call me weird, but I liked the work.

Shame I was also secretly a changeling infiltrator with a name too annoying to pronounce in polite society trying to observe and potentially subvert your nation state.

I mean, these things happen.

Of course, you'd be surprised what you can learn about a pony when you have a different perspective.
