The Elements of Harmony. Six artifacts of legendary power that have provided for the peace of Equestria for over a thousand years. While Queen Chrysalis managed to deny the ponies their ultimate defense, she still lost to a different unexpected surprise in the form of a love-powered shield spell.

However, the Elements won't be so easily denied. Unbeknownst to anyone, they awaken in their vault and cast Chrysalis into another world to teach her a lesson or six about life and harmony.

Stripped of her power, trapped in a form unfamiliar even to a changeling, and at the mercy of the locals, Chrysalis must learn how to get along with others before she is allowed to return to save her hive. And if successful, she may just be allowed to keep her new friend... If he's willing, and if he can survive the drawbacks of being one of the rarest changeling classes ever seen:

A breeding drone.

Join a spoiled rotten queen and a workaholic electrical engineer in the retelling of an adventure that brought them together across the boundaries of space and time. Because sometimes, a little change isn't all that bad.

This is a pastiche/style parody of David Markson's Wittgenstein's Mistress, but with ponies. Or one pony (Rarity, to be exact). The plot will be basically the same: Rarity seems to be the only pony left in Equestria.

I'm writing it for NaNoWriMo Pony edition, and I hope to write 50,000 words (though I really don't know if I'll be able to.)

I am a Princess. For two years, I was the only one in Equestria. And so, for two years, I guided the nation forward towards prosperity.

Okay, that isn't quite right. That makes it sound as if everything was smooth sailing. But it wasn't. Especially when the greatest enemy isn't somewhere out there - it's right here, in the Palace. Ponies know it as the Royal Court of Equestria.

Forget King Sombra and Queen Chrysalis. They are the opposition in exile. The Court is the opposition in residence. Nopony else knows how difficult it is to get anything done as a Princess. But I do. And soon, so will you.

My name is Twilight Sparkle. Princess Twilight Sparkle. And this is the story of my two-year long struggle to change Equestria. Whether I was successful or not... well, that's for you to find out.

Inspired heavily by and based on Yes Minister and its novelization, by Jonathan Lynn and Antony Jay. It is also worth noting that this story happens over the course of Season 4, the opening chapter occurring in the immediate aftermath of Castle Mane-ia.

Celestia's life hasn't been as fun as you might think. When she was younger, her parents were too busy for her. As she grew up, she became more detached from the little ponies around her. Luckily, she had a friend who would be there with her forever.

Twilight still isn't having a very good day. An army of changelings is attacking Canterlot, and the experimental spell that blew up in her face has stuck her in a time loop until she gets everything perfect and saves Equestria.

She's got a plan. She's also got a problem: Suddenly, she's not the only one whose day is repeating. And when you're caught between unstoppable force and immovable object, life has a tendency to get complicated.

This story is an authorized alternate-universe re-imagining of Eakin's Hard Reset, in which multiple loopers turn the time shenanigans up to 11. (Knowledge of Hard Reset is not required, but based on reader comments, will help in sorting out the early chapters.)

Cliff's Notes versions: RampantArcana has started a GitHub repository to codify the time-loop rules and the early-story timeline. Hawthornbunny has posted a chapter-by-chapter breakdown of all the loops, including the ones we don't see, with a lot of critical analysis. Those links contain spoilers (of currently posted chapters). If you're confused, either one of those fan projects is a great starting point, and story comments have a lot of insightful discussion as well.

Publication schedule: 2014 kicked my plot, but as of November I'm picking up the writing again and hope to have something by the end of the month.

A failed experiment.

Not exactly new for Twilight. But when the outcome brings forth its own science, the likes of which her nation hadn't even yet dared to hope for, the ponies of Equestria slowly realize that they're in for the adventure of a lifetime.

The problem is, they might just not be ready for the revolutions that technological advancement always brings.

And they're about to get hundreds of years of human science and advancements all at once.

As a forewarning, updates will likely be erratic. I have every intention of finishing this story, it's just that my life has been rather crazy lately as I'm sure many of you can imagine.

Also, if you are going to leave a thumbs down, please leave a comment detailing why. Thumbs downs don't tell me much, and I can't make the story better until people tell me what's wrong with it.
Thank you for your time.

WARNING: There may be spoilers in the comments. Read at your own peril.

Cadance isn't Sombra. But Sombra's leadership is all the crystal ponies remember, a ruler they had to love at all costs, with the final payment being their own lives. And as they gradually come to see their new Princess as leader instead of savior, too much of that residual fear is being transferred to her. They praise her, adore her, refuse to correct her no matter what she does -- because they live in terror of the consequences for doing anything else. They have yet to find their own voices, and may go on repeating hers until Celestia and Luna switch shifts. So how can she make them tell her when she's wrong, see that there's nothing to be afraid of, and take the next step in coming back to themselves once and for all?

Forbidding them to do anything other than criticize her should do the trick, right?

...right?
