What made Cozy Glow evil?

That was the question that everypony would wonder whenever that peculiar name would be heard. Was it her cutie mark? Was it her parents? Was it both? Or was it something more?

A few nights before Twilight's coronation, the Princess of Friendship ponders those exact questions.

Then, there was a knock on her castle doors.

Note: Just a random idea I had. Just a heads up though, this is NOT canon with The Dawn of a New Mission, or ANY of its sequels, present or upcoming. This is a standalone fic, and NOTHING more!

When the cutie map calls for Luster Dawn after being dormant for a long time, many questions stir within her mind. However, her anxiety increases when she discovers her friendship problem may be one of the hardest ones anypony ever had to endure.

This story is a sequel to We're Trapped in Stone, and We Must Scream

For so long, Chrysalis, Tirek, and Cozy Glow stood paralyzed in their stone cacoon; unable to move. To speak. To do anything. But that didn't mean they couldn't see or hear everything around them. For age after age.

But now they've been released from their confinement and are free to bask in a changed world. Unfortunately, the trauma of their ordeal doesn't just fade away.

Castling is a special move in chess involving one of the player’s rooks and the player’s king. The move consists of moving the king two squares towards a rook on the player's first rank, then moving the rook to the square over which the king crossed. After this move, the king and the rook end up just next to one another.

And thanks to a friend’s kindness, a certain calculating, chess master filly would have a chance to end up closer to her princess than she ever thought. But can a filly like her truly leave her past behind to find another way? Can you learn to trust another when manipulation is your destiny?

After Cozy Glow attempted to steal everypony's cutie mark, the Cutie Mark Crusaders are tasked with reforming her, and it seems to be going well. But what they don't know is that a new force is growing in the shadows, feeding on Cozy's negative feelings...waiting for a chance to attack.

It's been twenty-five years since the so-called "Final Battle for Equestria". The three-pronged head of the villain cabal that nearly took the kingdom down, Cozy Glow, has been awake the entire time, feeling every second trapped inside a statue in her dishonor. All she wants is revenge.

Flurry Heart was only a baby during the events that led to Cozy's demise. Ever since she had the ability to read, she was perplexed by the nonsensical actions and motivations of this little filly. Why did she do what she did? Why was she punished so? The curiosity was too much.

The dusty old books in the Crystal Empire tell her nothing. But an idea creeps into her mind. What better way to find out than to ask Cozy Glow directly? What's the worst that could happen?

Cozy Glow's plans failed. She was arrested and sentenced to imprisonment in Tartarus, sharing a cell with the likes of Tirek and locked away from the world. Everypony is in agreement that justice has been served, right?

Well, her parents aren't. What parent could ever stand by and allow their child to suffer all alone? And if Celestia won't listen... then they'll just have to take matters into their own hooves.
