Octavia feels like she is living in Vinyl Scratch's shadow, a bit part to the DJ's main act.

But then the opportunity of a lifetime comes, and she's given a chance to perform at Carneighgie Hall under a legendary composer.

The only caveat: she'll have to cancel a duet performance with Vinyl on Hearth's Warming Eve...

On Hearths Warming Eve, Vinyl and Octavia have just finished their respective performances at Canterlot, and are now ready to go home. While on the train ride home, Vinyl and Octavia start to consider just how well they know each other.

Octavia has a private performance for Princesses Celestia and Luna coming up. Unfortunately, her cello has seen better days, so she heads to the mall to buy a new one. Vinyl comes with her and insists that they go on a date, so they do, and Octavia decides to make this date very memorable for her D.J.

Octavia wonders if her marefriend has any siblings. As they are having a snack and tea break between concert performances, she finally asks the question. Vinyl happily answers.

The first time I saw her eyes, they struck a chord within my soul. One that I have never experienced before. It was like I was coming alive for the first time.

But it was only a glimpse, and then she was gone. I am not going to let this go, though. I will discover who she is, why she is here... and why fate almost brought us together.

My name is Octavia, and I will stop at nothing to find her.

On the day a comet passes overhead, Princess Twilight Sparkle decides to keep the sky dark, allowing all of Equestria to enjoy the view.

It's weird-- but a good weird! Definitely good.
