After seemingly small lapse of judgment on Rarity's part, Spike is left in an emotionally vulnerable state. An attempt to cheer the saddened dragon by Applejack quickly leads to the development of affection between the pair. But Applejack is not the only one with feelings for the reptilian assistant. Twilight also realizes her romantic love for the dragon as he spends more and more time outside the library and away from her. But her white counterpart soon admits her own feelings for her long-time, scaly suitor as well.

This story is a sequel to The Dragon Sage

After the events that took place in The Dragon Sage, Twilight and Spike have quietly started living and loving in their castle. Other ponies are bound to find out, so how will they respond? What does this mean for their friends and neighbors?

If you haven't read the previous story, I suggest it, but it is not necessary. Most characters and references to The Dragon Sage take a back seat role in this slice-of-life story. It's more as an extended epilogue than anything else.

Spike's happy world has always revolved around Twilight. From his hatching to their adventures in Ponyville, he has remained a faithful companion and loyal friend. But why is it that he has remained a baby for all of these years? There is so much about dragons that they do not know. In a rude awakening, Spike receives a letter from Princess Luna who promises to help Spike meet his potential. But how much will he change? Will his friends see him differently? And how will his life with Twilight evolve?

Pinkie Pie throws Twilight a party before her birthday, inviting many of Twilight's friends to attend. As the spiked punch get passed around, the antics of the group become looser. The morning after the party however, holds a shocking surprise for the assistant of Twilight Sparkle.

Losing your home isn't something that you get over in a day—Spike doesn't think so, at least. But Twilight insists that she's not overly distraught by the destruction of the Golden Oak Library, and she says that she's simply ready to move on.
