A Christmas present to my watchers · 6:43pm Dec 28th, 2012

I will critique the first 1000 words of one story for anyone who is currently watching me and whom I haven't already reviewed a story for. Comment on this blog post with your watcher # in my list of watchers (#1 = Scatterbrain), and a link to a story. Fimfiction stories don't need to have been submitted; links work before submission. You can also link to a ponyfictionarchive.net story, a deviantart page, or a google docs document (with "share" set to "anyone with the link can comment"). If you want my response to be a private PM, make sure you say that at the end of your comment.

This offer is good indefinitely, but it's a one-time use thing. I'll try to handle them in order of watcher number rather than in the order received. That means you don't have to rush to respond before everyone else.

Critiquing does not include spelling or grammar correction. Please fix that first. No clop; I'm not the right reviewer for that anyway. I assume no responsibility for bruised egos.

I'll probably never take the offer, because frankly, you're rather intimidating. :twilightsheepish: Thanks anyway, though.

656838 Oh, he's not that bad. I'd take him up on it, except I've already gotten excellent critiques of both my stories from Bad Horse.

Watcher number #172.

Could you review my newest story, "Running from Twilight?"

Awesome Christmas present by the way!

Happy new year!

Um, one moment whilst I find my watcher number.

EDIT: I think I'm #331. Story is here; Sin. You don't have to review it if you get a lot of responses, through.

Bad Horse? Psssssh. He's as harmless as a kitten.

A kitten made of fire, lightning, and angry bees. Also, it is the size of Warwickshire and it knows no fear. :pinkiehappy:

I'm watcher #13. Auspicious.

"And then there was the thirteenth disciple. A spectral creature, two thousand and five hundred years old, great with power and esoteric knowledge. I had meant him as a powerful weapon for the Evil League of Evil, but he turned on me...on us. My nemesis, now. My most bitter foe.

We still pre-read each other's stories, though. Obviously. I mean, no sense being rude about the whole thing."

That's a fun idea. I'm watcher #357, here's the link.

whom I haven't already reviewed a story for.

...damn.

I'm #12 apparently... huh.

Already had my story "The Pantheon" reviewed by you, looking back on it, I don't think it was very soul crushing so much as "I approached this fic with a totally different end-goal than readers would assume I had going into it.

Follower (Sierra) 117. Please rip this to shreds as hard as you can. Very few others will, and I'm getting dangerously close to being proud of it as a result.

#437 requesting a short review,
no need for more than a sentence or two.

Less than a pint of blood for ink should do
for in my recent fics, depth of thought I eschew.

Only silly rhymes or meters I have in lieu
of plot or deep thought, there is not, tis true.

Nor blood or gore, or even clop, but instead silly romance is for you
Or if you prefer war by other means, please enjoy one of the two.

Hi,

I'd like to take you up on this - Madame Butterfly.

I believe I am follower number 144

Yours,

#129 (I think), reporting in! A Lot to Think About

Oh I'll regret this, but I can't resist.

Watcher # 315 respectfully request a review of Flying with the Dusty Bolts good sir, many thanks!

Who are you, and where's the evil stallion I was told hangs out here? :trixieshiftleft: :trixieshiftright:

For clarification purposes (not necessarily applicable to my own future critique request), are there stories/genres you won't read? Gore? Clop?

I do have to say, though, I like the notion of making someone figure out their watcher number as a barrier to entry. It takes just enough genuine effort that it weeds out people whose stories you wouldn't be able to effectively help.

Follower #167

I don't have a story for you to review (any one of them could be ripped to shreds, I'm sure). I just thought you should know that.

If my calculations are correct, I am #344 in your illustrious list of watchers. In the interest of learning the good, the bad, and the "WTF WERE YOU THINKING?" in my writing, I present to you my latest work. Go nuts.

Thank you very much for the review! You've given me quite a bit to mull over. And Happy New Year's.

>Who are you, and where's the evil stallion I was told hangs out here? :trixieshiftleft: :trixieshiftright:
What's more evil than a critic?

>For clarification purposes (not necessarily applicable to my own future critique request), are there stories/genres you won't read? Gore? Clop?
I won't rule out gore. I could read "The Cough"; I don't want to read "A Fun Day". Clop... no, there's no point, I couldn't review it intelligently. If you write a story with gore or clop, that usually shouldn't be in the first 1000 words anyway.

>I do have to say, though, I like the notion of making someone figure out their watcher number as a barrier to entry. It takes just enough genuine effort that it weeds out people whose stories you wouldn't be able to effectively help.
I did that deliberately, hoping no one would figure out that it was partly busy-work. Clearly, you are a threat and must be watched closely. :trixieshiftright:

657499 Reviewed! I'd already begun that story, but it got buried in my "to-read" list.

669947 A lot to think about? :applejackunsure:

Easy. A bad criti...

... oh. Well-played semantic overloading, sir. Well played. :duck:

671279 Appreciate it, the story is in for a major overhaul now.
