Chapter 1: a wish comes true

15th October 1960 London Nautica

It was a rainy but normal Day for Johann Bauer. He was part of the great Luftwaffe of Germany. He had everything a man could ask for. A Wife which he loved with all of his heart, a Job with good pay, friends and comrades.
But he and his wife had only one wish: To have a child. Becoming parents. But it would never come true, as his wife was barren.
As he was on his post, he let out a sigh. What can I do? All I want is becoming a father. Is that really too much to ask?

As he was having his inner thought, he was interrupted by his Commander. “Johann, what’s the matter?”

“Nothing Sir, it’s just the usual,” He replied, to Kurt, his Commander and best friend.

“Despite I’m your superior; you can call me Kurt Johann. Since we were best friends since school, you don’t need to be this formal to me.”

“I know Kurt. It’s just habit. Did you have read about the prisoners that escaped from Eisenwald?”

“Yes I have. Since they broke out two Days ago, we must remain vigilant. But I’m sure, that they will be captured quickly. Nothing can escape our superior Troops and policeman.

He was interrupted by the Radio chatter from his Headset. “Dammit. They need me somewhere else. I see you later buddy.” As Kurt left, Johann whistled to kill the time.

But soon, he heard screaming and squealing tires. “What the?” he asked himself before he was knocked over by an explosion.
As the smoke cleared, he could hear an Alarm that ringed through the entire building.
A terrorist attack? We hadn’t something like this for years. I should look after Kurt. He grabbed his Rifle. His Uniform was dirty but he was unharmed.

As the stairs were blocked by debris, he was forced to go outside. The Parking lot was not better. He could see many victims of the Attack. “Can anyone have survived this?” He asked himself as he saw many of his comrades buried under debris.
As he walked through the parking lot, he heard something which should not be here. A crying voice of a child calling for his mother. Strangely it sounded like German. A Child? Should not be here at this time. But I should look after it.

He thought before he followed the crying. As he came closer, he called out, “Hello?” He could not see a child as he called out. Only smoke and debris.

After a brief silence, he heard a frightened, “P-Please…please don’t hurt me.”

Poor kid, must been around when the attack happened. “You can come out, I will not hurt you,” Johann said as he saw a shadow. Then he saw the shadow slowly moving towards him. At first he couldn’t believe his eyes as he saw a unicorn foal with a dirty light grey Coat, a dirty light yellow/ gold mane and tear filled yellow eyes.

Before his brain could process this, the filly ran over to his legs hugged them tight, sobbing into his pants.
It was the most heartbreaking thing he had seen in his life.

“Shh… It’s okay...” He patted the head of the filly. The filly looked up to him.

“Thank you. What’s your name?” He smiled in an attempt to comfort her.

“My Name is Private Johann Bauer but you can call me Johann though. And what is your name?”

“Dinky. Dinky Hooves. But most ponies call me Dinky Doo. Can you help me get home to my Mommy?” Dinky asked with pleading eyes.
At first, Johann could not believe that he just met a talking pony from probably another world. But the pleading eyes proved that he was not hallucinating.

Even if it was almost impossible, he didn’t want to break her heart more so he said, “Of course I will help you. But first, let me get you out of the rain. I don’t want that you catch a cold. Besides, a second bomb could explode any second.” He shouldered his Rifle and gently picked Dinky up.

“Thank you Johann. But where am I?” She asked while she was carried to safety by the man with brown hair and green eyes.

“You are in the London Nautica, a research building for aviation and robotics technology. I am a soldier who guards it. Now we have the 15th October 1960. If you are wondering what I am, I’m a human.”

Dinky’s eyes widened. “A Human? Where I’m coming from, Humans are only a myth.” She explained. Before he could reply, he heard a cough. He turned in the direction the cough was coming from.

“Kurt?! Thank god, you’re alive!” Kurt’s uniform was also dirty and he was limping.

“You should go to the infirmary.”

“I was on my way to it anyway. Who’s this?” Kurt asked as he spotted Dinky.

Great how I’m going to explain this? Johann took a deep breath and told his commander in a short story how he found her.

Kurt had a look of sympathy on his face. “You poor kid. I promise I will protect you from the bad guys.” He tried to cheer her up, as she was still shaking a bit.

“Johann, who is this?”

“May I introduce: Commander Kurt Wolf. My superior and best friend.” Kurt just laughed.

"Best Friends since school.”

“Yeah. And we were looking after the same girl, which I married.”

Kurt blushed. “Oh, stop it you.”

“Mr. Kurt, what is that on your cap?” Dinky pointed to his headset of the commander with black hair and brown eyes.

“This is a headset. It is attached to my peaked cap and allows me to call for backup. But you can call me Kurt.” He explained.

“Interesting.”

As they arrived at the Infirmary, they saw many of their comrades about the size of a platoon. They all had only minor injuries and were still able to fight. They all were shocked when they saw Dinky. But Kurt stepped in front of her and spoke, “What I will tell you now, will never leave this room, is that clear?” They all nodded.

Then he told them how Johann found her. They all had sympathy for Dinky and sworn to protect her with their lives and will not tell anyone about her. Dinky smiled.

“Thanks for helping me. But what kind of Soldiers are you?”

“We are Soldiers of the proud Luftwaffe of Germany. Fearless and skilled. Everyone is carefully selected to make sure that only the best Men are serving in the Luftwaffe. Most of the Commanders however are cowards that got promoted because they had the right connections. Only a few, like Kurt were serving as normal Soldiers like me before they got promoted to Commander,” Johann explained, “Do you have Soldiers where you are coming from?”

Dinky took a deep breath before she replied, “We have Soldiers where I’m coming from. They are called the Royal Guard. They are protecting the princesses who are ruling Equestria. We have also the Wonderbolts who are Flight acrobatics but have also military duties in case of an emergency. In Equestria Earth, Pegasus and Unicorn ponies life together in harmony. The magic in Equestria allows us to understand several languages. We call our language English like you humans, but even if you speak German, it’s still sounds like English to me. In the past, some pony's talked in French. I was born in Ponyville a small village.

My Mother is a Pegasus with crossed eyed. She was born with them but sees normally like any other pony. She is the Mail pony of Ponyville. She has bubbles as Cutie Mark. Her Name is Derpy Hooves, but he has the nickname Ditzy Doo. My Father is an Earth pony. He has an Hourglass as Cutie Mark. He is called Dr. Hooves but also Time Turner by my Mother. I have a big sister called Amethyst Star but I call often her Sparkler. Her Cutie Mark is three diamonds. The Cutie Mark presents the special Talent of a pony. I have still haven’t got it,” She showed her flank, “Because of this I get bullied at School. But I joined the Cutie Mark Crusaders. They are a club of three fillies that are trying to get their Cutie Marks. Oh, before I forgot, the Princesses are in control the Sun and the moon.”

Everyone was speechless after Dinky finished her story. “Fascinating. But unlike your World, the Humans on Earth do not live in peace and Harmony. Also the Sun and Moon are rising on its own.” Kurt was fascinated. Dinky however, was confused.

“What do you mean that they are not live in Harmony?” Kurt was biting his lips.

“Well, 21 Years ago…”

Kurt explained to Dinky how the Second World War started and how Germany was victorious thanks to, the technology’s that were invented by Wilhelm Strasse without going to much detail of the dark parts of it.

Still, the young filly was shuddering in fear from the description of war that Kurt had given fear. “This is horrible.” She whimpered but Johann was rubbing her back.

“I know. But I promise nothing bad will happen to you.” He checked if she was hurt from the Explosion but she was also unharmed. “I don’t want to make you sadder but how did you got here?”

Dinky’s ears dropped. “Unicorns can use magic, see?” She lifted a first aid kit to Kurt. “I can perform basic spells. I was practicing a teleport spell. It got out of control, and well… here I am.”

Johann had tears in his eyes as he heard this. “Don’t worry; I will take care of you, Dinky.”

“You do?”

“Yes. My wife is barren. But still we wanted a child. I would be more than happy to take care of you.”

Dinky hugged him. Oh “Thank you Thank you, Thank you!”

“Nothing to thanks, kid. It would be a pleasure.”

“Hey Johann. Looks like your Dream came true.” Kurt said.

Chapter 2: Alarm!

Dinky cried tears of Joy. But curiosity caught her, once she saw Johann’s rifle. “Johann, what is this on our back?”

Johann tried to explain the Assault rifle 1960 in a quick way.

“That’s the Assault rifle 1960. Standard Equipment for the Soldiers of Germany. Fully Automatic, using a 45 round magazine. The recoil is very low, but I use it with a grip for easier handling. A special group of Elite Soldiers are using an under-slung rocket launcher. And this,” He pointed to Kurt’s sidearm, “Is the standard Sidearm, the Handgun 1960. Used by Officers as their weapon of choice, but the low ranking Solders have also one.” He then pointed to this holster where his handgun was. “Can be fired in 3-round-bursts or semi-automatic.”

Before Dinky could reply there was a loud, “Alarm! Need Backup in the hanger bay!” followed by a, “Yes Commander! Backup dispatched!”

“The hanger bay is right next to us.” Kurt was listening to his headset for further instructions.

“Commander Kurt, report to the hanger bay.”

“Roger that.” He replied to command. “We will be needed at the hanger bay. Dinky, you will stay here. It’s too dangerous for you.”

“But I don’t want to be alone!” She was scared.

But Johann spoke in a fatherly tone, “Don’t worry. Won’t take long. Besides, I don’t want that the bad guys hurt you.”

“Okay.”

Kurt and his men ran to the hanger bay, only to see that everyone was already dead. Only one man, wearing a brown leather jacket and pants was left. He had an Assault rifle, a Handgun and some kind of Laser gun. He opened fire on them. Kurt and Johann were using creates as cover. But the terrorist threw a Tesla grenade.
Both managed to escape, but the explosion threw Johann against the wall. His vision was blurry. Kurt’s headset was useless thanks to the EMP, so he ordered to retreat but forgot Johann.
Johann limped back to the infirmary but collapsed at the door. His vision returned, only to see that the terrorist pointed his rifle at his head. He had blue eyes and blond hair. “Any last words?”

“Yes. Please spare her.” He begged in English as he saw dinky cowering and crying in a corner. All soldiers in London could speak fluently English to talk with the citizens. The last thing what he saw before he passed out, was that the terrorist lowered his rifle.

Dinky opened her eyes as she heard the door. The shots and screaming were too much for her. But to her shock the terrorist entered the room. “Please don’t kill me! I don’t wanna die!” The terrorist did to her surprise, not pay attention to her. Instead, he grabbed Johann by his arms and pulled him into the infirmary. Then he grabbed a first aid kit before he turned to Dinky.

“I will not hurt you kid. I’m just here for the helicopters in the hanger bay.” With these words, he leaved.
Just as he leaved, she heard him say, “Aw nuts.” The ground shake and she heard more shots. She just cried more. After a while, there was silence.

Then she heard Kurt shouting, “Stop them!” But it was too late. “Dammit!” His anger faded as he heard Dinky calling out for her mother. It was heartbreaking.

Johann woke up as he heard Dinky. He patted her back and comforted her. “It’s over, no more tears.”

“It was so horrible! The scary noises reminded me when you found me. It was too much for me.” She cried herself to sleep.

“Poor kid. She feared for her life, I can tell you Kurt.”

“Tell me, what is more heartbreaking? A mother screaming for her child or the other way around?”

“I don’t know. But she is too young to suffering like this.”

“I know. You should go home. Your wife is probably worried.”

“I know Kurt. But…”

“No buts. The safety of Dinky is more important. It is too dangerous for her out there. Besides, you can surprise your wife if you get what I mean.” He gave Johann a wink.

“Okay, I see you later buddy.” Kurt was still unmarried unlike Johann.

Johann walked to the parking lot with the sleeping filly in his arms. His car, a VW Käfer, was undamaged and free from debris. He gently putted dinky in the back and putted the seat belt on. The Radio played Die Käfer – “Mond, Mond, Ja, Ja”.

I wonder how I going to explain this to my wife. He thought while he was driving home to Berlin.

Chapter 3 Surprise!

Chapter 3: Surprise!

It was evening when he arrived home. His House was in a district where the Gestapo had only a low presence. There were a few security cameras, but they couldn’t spot Dinky thanks to her small size.

He parked the car in the garage. As he stepped out, he was surrounded by his neighbors.

“Thank God, you’re alright! We feared the worst after we heard of the attack!”

“Don’t worry; I’m unharmed, only my uniform is dirty. Could you please be quiet? I have a guest with me and he is asleep. Could you also keep this a secret?”

His neighbors wondered why they should keep this a secret, until they saw the sleeping filly. They all agreed once he told them how he found her shortly after the attack.

“Poor girl. But isn’t she cute and adorable?” One neighbor asked.

“Yes she is. Don’t worry. If the secret police tries to take her, she won’t get far.” Another said.

“Thanks guys.” Johann knew that he could trust his neighbors.

He opened the front door only to get hugged by his wife. “Johann! I was so worried about you!” She let out tears of Joy.

“I do not have a scratch Nina. And I have a surprise for you. But please don’t be too happy when I show you, ok?

At first Nina was confused, but she was full of Joy when she saw Dinky. “Aww, she is such a cute adorable filly. But where did you found her?” Johann took a deep breath and told his wife what happened to Dinky. Nina looked with sadness at her.

“That poor child. Separated from her home and Family,” She gave Dinky a kiss on her forehead, “Don’t worry; I will treat you like you were my own daughter,” She whispered not to wake her. “I’m so proud of you.” She kissed her husband.

“She is not our daughter but at least we get the chance to be parents, if I can say so.”

Nina was often babysitting the Children of the neighbors when they were at work. And taking care of a filly should not be different than taking care of a human child.

Dinky stirred in her sleep and let out a cute yawn. She blinked her eyes open. She wanted to move but panicked when she realized that she was restrained.

Nina smiled sadly at the filly. “Calm down little one, there is nothing to be afraid of.”

“Why I’m tied up then?” Dinky did not understand why a belt was holding her.

“This is a seat belt. It is designed to protect the passengers from a crash. To release it, just press this button.” He pressed the buckle to demonstrate it.

Dinky relaxed when the belt snapped back into position. Then she looked at the woman with brown hair and blue eyes. “You are Johann’s wife, right?”

“Yes. Are you hungry?” Dinky’s stomach growled. “I take this as a yes. Johann, put your uniform into the clothes basket. How about you give her a nice relaxing warm bath while I make Dinner?”

“Yes, Honey. Come in, Dinky.” Dinky followed Johan into the house to the bathroom. The gramophone played Wilbert Eckart & Volksmusik Stars - House of the Rising Sun

He switched from his uniform to a jacket and blue pants “I love baths!” Dinky exclaimed happy. Johann putted Dinky in the bathtub.

After a few minutes, Dinky was clean again. “Better, Dinky?”

“Much better. Thank you, Johann.”

“Dinner is ready!” Nina called out. She made herself and her husband Potato Soup and for Dinky hot chocolate and fish sticks. They were new. Still, Children loved them. Since Dinky was a child too, Nina thought she would love them too.

Johann helped her on the Chair. Dinky had good manners and ate with knife and fork, using her magic. Johann and Nina knew instantly that Dinky loved her meal.

“Thanks Mrs. Bauer, it tastes very good. My Daddy also ate them, but he likes them with vanilla sauce. I know sounds strange but everyone has his own taste.” She drank her hot chocolate.

“Okay. Please you can call me Nina, sweetie. Your mother raised you very well.”

Dinky tried to hold back tears.

“Please don’t cry Dinky. I don’t want to make you sad.” Nina felt guilty.

“I miss my mommy, that’s all.” Dinky lowered her ears.

“Don’t worry. I’m sure that they will look for you until they have found you.”

“You really think so, Johann?”

“Yes. And until that, you can stay with us, no matter how long it takes.”

“I don’t want to get you into trouble.”

“Dinky, I told you already, my wife is barren. And we always wanted to have a child. So taking care of you is like your wish came true.”

Her ears stood again. “Really? You would like to care of me like I was your daughter?”

“Yes my dear. Oh I forgot, should I tell you how I met my wife in school?”

Dinky grinned. “Yes please!” She exclaimed with happiness and curiosity that only a child could have.

“Ok here we go. I still remember as it was yesterday.”

Flashback

Johann and Kurt were best friends. They sat on their desks when the teacher spoke, “Class we are getting a new pupil. Her name is Nina Koch.”

Nina stepped in, a little bit shy. She had brown hair and blue eyes. “Hello everyone.”

“Hello Nina.” The class greeted back.

“Please have a seat, Nina.”

Nina chose the empty desk next to Johann. Johann smiled and waved friendly. Nina was the first and only girl in the class. Johannes parents taught him to treat woman and girls with respect. He always acted like a gentleman to them.

The lesson went fast. Johann chatted with Kurt in the schoolyard. “I like the new girl. How about you?”

“Me too Johann. But I heard how some kids said bad things about her behind her back.”

“Nobody should talk bad about a Lady!”

“I know… Oh there she is!” Kurt had an amorous glance on his face and so had Johann.

“I think I’m in love, Johann.”

“Me too.”

“Since you are the gentleman, you should go first. Go get her Tiger.”

Johann was nervous but managed to speak, “Hello there. Do you want to eat with us?” He asked politely.

“Yes why not.”

Johann stepped aside and bowed. “Please, you don’t have to be such a Gentleman.”

While they ate their meal Johann asked, “How’s your family?”

"My Daddy works as a businessman and my Mommy is a Designer but also a good cook. How rude, how is your name?”

"Johann Bauer. My father is an engineer in a plane factory and my mother is my Teacher.”

“Oh how wonderful. Having your mother as Teacher must be fun.”

"Yes it is.” After they finished their meal, Nina went to the bathroom.

“Hey, that went good for the first time if you ask me, Johann.”

“Better than I expected, Kurt.”

They were interrupted by a cry for help. Nina was pushed by two boys. They were the oldest in the class. “Kurt, get the teacher, I can handle this.”

“You sure about this?”

“100%. Now get help.”

“Jawohl.”

“Hey, leave her alone!” Johann shouted. The boys turned in his direction.

“Get lost.” One Boy said.

“NO! Didn't teach your mother not to beat Girls?

“Nobody talks about my mother like that!” The taller one shouted and tried to beat Johann but he blocked it and responded with a counterstrike. He managed to keep him busy until the teacher arrived.

The Teacher grabbed the taller boy.

“We got a new student and this is how you welcome her? You two to the director, now!”

As they left Johann checked Nina. “Are you hurt?”

“No. I’m fine. Thank you for saving me.”

“That’s the duty of a Gentleman.” Johann received a kiss from Nina after he helped her up. That made him blush.

”I think she got a crush on you,” Kurt said after Nina was out of hearing range.

“… after that we were dating and married after some time.” Dinky just smiled.

“Nice. My Mommy told me that she met Daddy when he traveled through Equestria. He needed a place to stay and my Mommy gave him shelter. Ponyville was so peaceful and quiet that he decided to stay in Ponyville. After some time, they got close to each other. After some Dates, they married and *yawn* got me and my big sister.”

“A wonderful Story, Dinky. But you should get some sleep. It was an exhausting Day for you. We have a guest room with a bed. You can sleep here. Johann, would you please bring Dinky to bed, while I’m cleaning the kitchen?”

“Yes, Honey.”
Johann leaded Dinky to the guest room. Dinky giggled as she saw the Teddy bear on the bed. She climbed into the bed, Teddy bear in her arms. Still, she was sad.

“What's the matter?"

“Mommy usually sings me a lullaby or reads me a bedtime Story. Daddy tells me often Story’s about his adventures he had before he met Mommy.”

“Dinky, I understand, but wasn’t my story about my wife a bedtime story for you?” Dinky yawned a last time.

“Yes. I just miss my family.”

“Don’t you worry, I’m sure they will find you. If you need something the Door to our bedroom is open.”

“Thank you for making me hope.” Dinky drifted off to sleep.

Nina waited in the corridor. “She looks like an Angel when she is asleep.”

“Yes she does. But for now, let’s get some rest.”

Nina whispered in bed, “I love you."

“I love you too.” Johann and Nina kissed before they drifted off to sleep.

Chapter 4: Unwanted Visit

Johann and Nina were awoken by a loud scream. Instantly, Johann grabbed his Handgun and sprinted to the guest room. “Dinky, are you alright?” He scanned the room for intruders. Dinky breathed heavy and had cold sweat on her face.

“I had a nightmare. It was so real!” She took a deep breath to calm down.

Nina arrived and scooped the filly in her arms. “Shh, it was just a dream. Please calm down.” She spoke in a calming and motherly tone, before she wiped out a few tears out of Dinky’s eyes.

“Do you want to tell us what you dreamed?” Johann asked, “You don’t have to tell it if you want.”

Dinky shivered in fear. “I-I dreamed that I woke up in some kind of Lab. I couldn’t use magic and couldn’t move. Then an old man walked in. He introduced himself as that Wilhelm Strasse you talked about. I begged him to let me go, but he said that he never saw a pony like me before and I was his newest test subject for an experiment. I begged him to spare me but he replied that mercy is unfit for the 'Master Race’. The last thing I saw before I woke up, was that he put on a monocle and took out a scalpel and…”

She couldn’t finish it and buried her head into Nina’s chest. She patted her mane.

“Shhh...Don't worry. We are here...Shhh.” She rocked Dinky and hummed a Lullaby.

Before Dinky fell asleep, Nina whispered, “You can sleep with us.

She brought Dinky into their bed and whispered, “All that Babysitting has been paid off today.”
Johann gave Dinky the Teddy bear, which she hugged tightly in her sleep.

“Although I know her since today, I must admit that she is growing to my Heart.”

“Me too. Goodnight, my dear.” They all slept peaceful.

Morning came. Johann stretched and let out a yawn. Dinky hugged the Teddy bear in her sleep and was hugged by Nina in her sleep. It was so cute that he couldn’t help but smile. Johann decided to let them sleep.

He switched to his washed uniform and breakfasted. He read the newspaper.

London Nautica Bombed By Terrorists

London, October 16, 1960 - A suicide bomber detonated explosives packed into the trunk of a small car at the entrance of the London Nautica Research Center early yesterday morning, killing dozens of employees working at the facility and injuring hundreds. Officials say it's the first attack they've had in London for years and it comes just months after the anniversary of the August Uprising, where scores of degenerates tried to cast the upstanding citizens of the city into anarchy and mayhem.

My Goodness. Me, Kurt and Dinky were lucky that we were unharmed.

He was brought out of his thoughts by a yawn. Dinky came in with a messy mane.

“Good morning, Dinky. Did you sleep well?”

“Yes, Johann. What’s for breakfast?”

“How about Oatmeal and Juice?”

“Yes, please.”

After Breakfast was ready, Johann helped Dinky on the Chair. She enjoyed it. Nina joined them.

“Good morning, you two.”

“Morning, my dear. Slept well?”

“Yes.”

After Breakfast, Johann prepared for work. After he picked up his Rifle and Hand gun, he heard a knock on the Door.

Strange. We never got Visit so early in the Morning.
He told Dinky to hide before he opened the Door.

To his surprise, Obersturmbannführer Engel and her Companion Hans “Bubi” Winkle were the visitors. They had two guards.
“Good Morning. I’m Private Johann Bauer, how can I help?” He saluted.

“Morning Herr Bauer. I’m Obersturmbannführer Engel. I heard that you have a guest, so I decided to look if he is Aryan blood or not.”

Johann gulped on the inside. He knew that he couldn’t deny that they can come in. That would mean death to him and his wife. “Come in.” The Guards stood at the door.

“Honey who is this?” Nina asked but recognized Frau Engel instantly as she was well known. “Hello Frau Engel. May I introduce myself; I am Johann’s wife, Nina.”

“Hello Frau Bauer. I’m here to check if your guest is Aryan blood or not.” Nina also gulped but Frau Engel instantly spotted Dinky, hiding under the couch.

“Come here little Child, I promise I will not hurt you. “ Since Frau Engel was a mother herself, she knew how to calm down children.
Dinky came slowly out. Frau Engel gestured her to the table.

“Wait a minute. Let me look at you. Yes… Very nice Aryan features. Don’t you think so, Bubi?”

“Yes, I like her eyes.”

“Sit down, please.” Dinky sat down. “Forgive my manners. I am Obersturmbannführer Engel. And this is my lovely companion. Aren’t you, Bubi?” “What is this, my love?” They shared a laugh. “I have a test I would like to on you. It’s designed to determine if there are traces of impure blood running through a person’s veins.

Now, I am sure you will pass this test with flying colors.” She turned serious. “But if you don’t…” She aimed her golden Luger at Dinky. “…I will shoot you.” Dinky was scared, but Nina rubbed her back to calm her down.

“Do you understand?” Dinky nodded. Frau Engel begun to laugh. “It’s just a test.” Again she turned serious. “But answer truthfully.” If you try to pick up the gun…” She loaded her Luger. “…You’ll be dead before you have time to regret your choice.”

If he could he would kill Frau Engel on the spot for doing that to Dinky, but he knew that he couldn’t endanger her life.
“Good. Then let’s start.”

She pulled out some pictures. “Choose the picture… that excites you the most.” She putted a picture of an eye and lips on the table. “If you know what I mean."

Dinky chose the eye. Probably because they remind her of her mother, Johann thought.

“Well, Well. Now choose the picture…” She putted a picture of a butterfly and a flower on the table. “…That makes you happy.”
Dinky choose the butterfly. “Interesting. You think this girl is of impure blood, Bernhard?”

“I don’t know, Frau Obersturmbannführer.” Frau Engel laughed again.

“We will know very soon enough, won’t we? This time I want you to pick the card…” She putted a picture of a spider and skulls on the table. ”…that makes you feel disgusted.” Dinky looked at the Skulls. For Johann it was no wonder that Dinky was more disgusted from death than a Spider as she was from a peaceful world. He knew it when he found her.

As Dinky was about to choose, Frau Engel grabbed her hoof. “I should have said, this is the final card. So choose wisely.” Still, Dinky chose the Skulls. Frau Engel responded by picking up her Luger and cocking it.

Dinky closed her eyes while Johann drew his handgun and aimed at Frau Engel. But she was unimpressed by this. “I tell you. If you had not been an Aryan, you would have gone for the gun.”

“You must excuse the lovely lady. She’s childishly fond of playing these games these picture games with absolute strangers.”

“These pictures? Vacations photos, old war photos. Nothing more.” She laughed and threw them into the air.

“Besides, I can spot an impure with my naked eye. The caring for her is what I expect from parents.” She putted a hand on Johann’s Handgun to lower it.
“I must say that is a beautiful costume. And that she will be a great Aryan woman. Auf wiedersehen.”
They left.

“I thought I would die!” Dinky cried into Nina’s chest.

“That’s Frau Engel. She likes it to play this test. But I promise you one thing: If someone harms one hair on you, I will make him regret it. I tell you that.”

“Thank you for protecting me.”

"Anytime. But now, I must go to work, Bye!” Once he was out, he let out a sigh of relief. What a relief. She thinks it is only a costume.

As Johann left, Dinky asked, “So, what could we do now?”

“Johann returns most of the time in the evening. I always clean the house on Sunday, do you wanna help me?”

“Of course. I must repay you somehow for your hospitality.”

“Dinky, I’m glad that you are helping me but you don’t have to. If I may ask, is there something that you love to do with your mother?”

Dinky smiled, “My Mommy loves Muffins! She also calls me Muffin sometimes. I always help her baking.”

“Then, how about we make some Muffins, after we are finished with cleaning? Making a surprise for Johann?”
“Good Idea.”

Johann was greeted by Kurt when he arrived. “Good morning, buddy. How’s the Family?” Johann didn’t reply. “What? Did I say something bad?”

“Only one Word: Frau Engel.”

Kurt knew of course what that meant. “Oh no. Don’t tell me she took Dinky away.”

“She thought it was a costume. But she ‘tested’ Dinky and scared her. If I could, I had shot her on the spot.” It was rare that Kurt saw Johann so angry.

“Calm down. Blind fury rarely does well.”

“But she had also a nightmare about being Deathshead test subject. He…” Kurt instantly hugged him and patted him on the back. German Soldiers rarely used Strasses nickname.

“Sounds like you have been through a lot. But I can tell by your actions, that you make a good surrogate father for her. And your wife makes a good surrogate mother.” Kurt’s comrades that he met after the attack heard everything. “I promise, if Frau Engel tries to take Dinky to Strasse they have to go through us. Right?”

“Sir, Yes, Sir!” Kurt was glad that he could count on his comrades.

“Thanks guys. I could never forgive myself if she gets hurt.”

“That’s what friends are for. But now, Duty calls.”

Since it was Sunday, the rest of the Day was quiet.

In the Afternoon, Kurt had an Idea. “You know, since most of the repairs are going quick, I thought that you could Dinky to the tourist attractions of the London Nautica.”

“But it is too dangerous for her out there.”

“Johann, your wife is a Designer; she can make some clothes for her, since it’s getting cold and as a Disguise. Plus, she can’t stay indoors all the time.”

“This could work. I will ask her about it when my shift is over.”

“You know what? I give you the day off. So you can spend more time with her. And send her my regards. I have also a gift for her. Catch.” Kurt threw a Scho-Ka-Kola over to Johann who catches it in midair.

“Thank you. I’m sure she will like it.”

"I know. And good reflexes.” Johann left.
After a while, he arrived at Home. He was instantly greeted by Dinky.

“Welcome back.”

“Hello Dinky. I shall give you Kurt’s regards. He also wanted me to give you this.”

He showed Dinky the chocolate. “I love chocolate!” She exclaimed happy.

Johann smiled, “Which Child does not?”

“I also have a surprise for you.”
Johann followed Dinky into the kitchen where he smelled something freshly baked.

“Surprise!” Nina and Dinky shouted. There were several Muffins on a plate.

“We made them for you. So I think you should have the first.” Dinky levitated a muffin over to him. He took a bite and let out a tear of Joy.

Dinky’s ears dropped. Before she could say something, she was picked up by Johann. He smiled. “They are delicious Dinky.”

She giggled, “Glad to hear it. Could you please put me down?”

But Johann had suddenly an evil expression. “No. First, I need to tickle you.”

“What?!” Dinky burst out into laughter, helpless as she was tickled by Johann. After a while, she laid on the floor, trying to catch her breath.

“I had never so much fun in a long time Dinky.”

Nina and Johann ate muffins while Dinky enjoyed her chocolate. “Kurt asked me if I want to visit the tourist attractions of the London Nautica with Dinky. And he asked if you could some clothes for Dinky since its getting cold.”

“It would be a pleasure for me. What do you think, Dinky?”

“You never told me that the London Nautica has tourist attractions. Still I accept.”

Nina took out a measuring tape. After a few moments of measuring Dinky she said, “I’ve gotten all your measurements down, and it shouldn’t take me long to make this.”

“Thank you. I am in the living room, drawing if you need me.” After Dinky and Nina left, Johann cleaned the kitchen. A few minutes later, Nina was finished with the clothes. A Yellow Toque, a yellow scarf, a red coat and shoes.

“I couldn’t get a better idea for the colors but do you think she will like it?”

“She will like it I’m sure.” Johann liked it.

His and Nina’s heart melted as they saw Dinky asleep on the floor. She had drawn a picture.

On it were a grey Pegasus mare with yellow mane and eyes. Under her was the Word Mommy. Next to her was a brown stallion with a dark brown mane and blue eyes. Under him was the Word Daddy. The last pony was a magenta mare with violet eyes and matching mane. She had the words big sister.

“Honey, look.” Johann showed his wife the picture.

“So cute! We must hang up this on the fridge.” After this was done, Nina brought Dinky into bed before she and Johann went into their bed.

“Tomorrow will be a great Day,” Johann said to Nina before they were both asleep.

Chapter 5: Fun at the London Nautica

The next Day, Nina and Johann woke up, only to be greeted by Dinky who made breakfast for them. “Good morning. I did made you breakfast.” She was holding a tray with two glasses of juice and two bowls of oatmeal.

“Thank you Dinky, that’s very nice dear,” Nina said. She and Johann enjoyed her Breakfast.

“That was delicious, Dinky.” Johann patted her. “But before we go, we want that you try the clothes on.”

The clothes Nina made fitted perfectly. “Do you like it? I wanted some colors that would suit you and the fall.”

Dinky blushed, “Of course I like it. Thanks.”

The Toque was big enough to hide the horn, but not so large that it was uncomfortable or suspicious.

They entered Johann’s car. Dinky putted the seat belt on. “It will be a long ride. You should take a nap until we arrive.” Before Dinky fell asleep, Johann had to break abrupt, causing Dinky to fall forwards but was pushed back into the backseat by the belt.

“Trottel!” Johann shouted. A Car had taken him the right of way.

“So this is what a seat belt does.”

“Yes. It is designed to prevent you from falling out of your seat and getting hurt.” Nina explained.

After that, Dinky closed her eyes and was asleep. Johann turned the Radio on. It played Hans - Mein kleiner VW. Johann’s VW had served him well for years and he didn’t want to replace it with a Mercedes.

Nina woke Dinky as they arrived. “Wow. It’s large.”

“Yes. This used to be downtown London, before… well, you know.” Johann parked and opened the door for his wife.
“Well, let’s go, shall we?”

“But of Course. Or as my Daddy says: Allons-y!”

Dinky was hopping ahead. Nina and Johann smiled at the cute sight. As they entered the building an broadcasting started.

"Welcome to the London Nautica. I am General Wilhelm Strasse, the founder of this museum. When I was just a little boy, I had a dream. I used to dream that one day I would create a robot, who would hold my hand when I was alone and afraid. It sounds silly now, doesn't it? But dreams are what fuels the engines of progress. Without dreams, we would have no Victory. Without dreams, we would have no Leader. Without dreams, we would have no Fatherland. Since I was a boy, my dreams, shaped by time, have become a beautiful arrow shooting straight into the future. Our collective future. This is why I constructed the London Nautica. I hope it will inspire more young boys to strive for greatness. Now please, enjoy your stay."

“Wilhelm Strasse was the founder of this museum?”

“Yes Dinky. He was responsible for many constructions. First, I should you show the Moon dome.”

“May I join you?” Kurt asked as he opened the door for them.

“But of Course Mr. Wolf, you can join us.

“Please you can call me Kurt. Dinky, your clothes are very nice.”

“Thank you. Wow, Fascinating.” Dinky’s eyes widened. The moon dome had a topographically correct replica of the moon spinning in the middle, and on the surface of the moon was a miniature model of the lunar base.

“You made it to the moon?”

“Yes, my dear. On July 20th 1951 the German astronaut Hans Armstark and his co-pilot Emmerich Otto became the first men to land on the Moon. The Lunar base was built in 1956. It is located in an ancient impact crater known as the Glimmer Bow.”

“Amazing, Johann.” Dinky turned around as she heard a stomping and beeping sound.

A Guard robot came in and aimed at Dinky. Kurt however said, “She’s harmless.” The Robot beeped once more and returned to his post.

“Wha-What was this?” Dinky was scared for a second.

“This is a Guard Robot. Designed by General Strasse to guard places, that requires, Firepower that Soldiers cannot have,” Johann explained.

The Guards were also reinforced by Fire troopers. “Johann, what are those Guys?” Dinky pointed to the Fire trooper that was guarding the Door.

Instead of Johann, the Fire trooper answered her Question. “I’m a Fire trooper. I am an Elite Soldier armed with a Shotgun loaded with special ricochet shrapnel. My diving suit is heavily armored. That means I can take a lot of bullets.”

“But if you wearing a diving suit, why you are called Fire trooper if you have nothing to do with fire?”

“I don’t know. Probably the guy who designed the Fire troopers probably wanted originally to equip them with flamethrowers or something like that I suppose.”

“If you say so.”

“Dinky, should we show you the rest of the museum?” Kurt asked.

“Yes please.” Before they left Johann gave Dinky a piggy ride.

They came across the hanger bay where some Space Marines, Space troopers and Space Scientists were preparing for take-off. “May I ask what these guys are?” Dinky felt guilty for asking.

Kurt replied, “You can ask me everything Dinky. The men in white are Space Marines. They are serving on the lunar base. Only the very best Soldiers can join them. The men with the backpack with the light on and the red color on the white armor are Space troopers. They are picked from the very best and most experienced of the lower ranking Space Marines.
And the men in the white suits are Space Scientists. They are working in shifts of between six months up to a year before being given time off, because of the dangers associated with isolation as far as I know.
Can’t image how this helps. But sometimes, I wonder who the genius was that decided to deploy the best soldiers on the probably most boring post you can get.”

A Space shuttle unloaded a Supersoldat. He aimed his MG 60 at Dinky. But as Kurt said that she is a visitor he lowered his weapon and prepared for transport.

“And this is a Supersoldat. Engineered by General Strasse himself. I only know that they are created on the Moon. Their armor allows them to take a lot of bullets and with their MG 60 they can deal high damage. For some reason they take orders without Question.”

Dinky shivered a bit, but a Space Marine comforted her. “Sorry for that. They tent to shoot first upon contact. Your costume looks very cute.”

“Thanks mister. And your armor looks very cool. Do you also have commanders?”

“Of course. They are wearing a red uniform and are using a version of the Handgun 1960 that is white in color and has a silencer permanently attached. Is this your daughter?” He turned to Kurt.

“No she is our daughter,” Johann said to the Space Marine, "I’m off duty so I thought I showed her the museum. And I’m proud of her.”

“So, are you part of the Luftwaffe?”

“Yes. I wonder sometimes how the Supersoldaten are created.”

“I have seen that they are in tubes of yellow liquid. I also heard that their brain is degenerated into a more primitive state, making them erratic and extremely violent. This makes me wondering how the General can control them.”

While they had their conversation, Dinky sneaked behind Kurt and grabbed his cap.
“Got your Cap!” She shouted while running away.

“Oh come here you little…” Kurt tried to catch her.

Johann and Nina smiled at the cute sight. Even if the faces from the Space Marines and Troopers were covered by their helmets they seemed to smile too. The Scientists also smiled.

The rest of the day, Dinky had much fun. They even watched a movie about space in one of the cinemas. When they returned at home, Nina made alphabet soup for Dinky. The Soup with letters in it was favored by many Children.
Dinky let out a sigh as the letters formed the word home. “You miss your family, don't you?” Nina asked.

“It’s just; I can’t stop thinking that my family will never find me.”

“Again, don’t worry. I am confident, that they won’t give up until they have found you,” Johann said in an attempt to comfort her.

“You’re right, Johann. Daddy said once to me, that he never leaved a friend behind. And he will search for me.”

“That’s the spirit!” Nina said.

After Dinky was enjoyed her soup, Nina putted her to bed. “Nina, can I ask you something?”

“But of course, my dear.”

“Does it bother you, if I call you my Mommy? Since I don’t know how it long it takes, until my real mommy finds me.

“Dinky, you’re already like a daughter to me. And since I always wanted to be a mother, I would love it if you call me Mommy.”

“Can you sing me a lullaby, Mommy?”

“Of course.” Nina cleared her throat and began to sing

“Twinkle, twinkle, little star,
how I wonder what you are!
Up above the world so high,
like a diamond in the sky.
Twinkle, twinkle, little star,
how I wonder what you are!
When the blazing sun is gone,
when he nothing shines upon,
Then you show your little light,
twinkle, twinkle, all the night.
Twinkle, twinkle, little star,
how I wonder what you are!
Then the traveler in the dark,
thanks you for your tiny spark;
he could not see which way to go,
if you did not twinkle so.
Twinkle, twinkle, little star,
how I wonder what you are!
In the dark blue sky you keep,
and often through my curtains peep,
for you never shut your eye,
till the sun is in the sky.
Twinkle, twinkle, little star,
how I wonder what you are!
As your bright and tiny spark,
lights the traveler in the dark,
though I know not what you are,
twinkle, twinkle, little star.
Twinkle, twinkle, little star,
how I wonder what you are!”

After Dinky was asleep, Nina whispered in her ear, “Sweet Dreams.” This was Nina’s favorite lullaby, even if it was not German origin. She joined her husband in the bed.

“She asked me if it was ok if she can call me mommy. Would you mind if she would you call Daddy?”

“Not at all. I already feel like a father for her. And you know how much I love kids.”

“And that’s what I love about you.” Nina kissed her husband.

Before they were asleep, it began to rain and an emergency broadcast could be heard.

“Attention Citizens of Berlin. A malfunctioning Panzerhund is roaming on the Streets. Because of this it is very dangerous at night. Stay indoors and if you see it, report it immediately to the authorities.”

“This is not good.”

"Don’t worry my dear. As long as we stay indoors, nothing bad can happen.”

Chapter 6: Nightmare

During the night Dinky whimpered quietly while tossing, and turning in the big, soft guest bed. At first, she found herself in the Living room of Johann and Nina. They smiled and danced.

But then, three men came in. One had an eyepatch; the other two had helmets that covered their faces except for their eyes.
“Who are you?” Nina asked.

“I am Friedrich Keller. I was sent by General Strasse to inspect your daughter.” Before Nina could say something, Dinky was taken by Keller.

“Ja, just as the General has suspected. Proceed,” He gave Dinky to one of the commandos, “No need to get emotional, Herr and Frau Bauer. You have served your purpose adequately.” Keller and the Commandos made to leave.

“NEIN! Give us our daughter back!” Nina screamed and leapt forward for Dinky.

She screamed, “Nina! Help me!” she was struggling in the hands of the Commando. But Nina was stopped by the other commando.

“If you resist, you will be killed.” The Commando aimed his sidearm at her.

“Wait!” Johann shouted.

But Nina was fighting with the commando, but he managed to overpower her and aimed at her. Johann tried to grab the gun, but the Commando overpowered him too and executed both.

Dinky watched in horror. “Murderer!”

“Shut up!”

“NO! Let me go, I don’t wanna abused for experiments!”

“Then you let me no other choice.” Keller aimed at Dinky’s head.

“No, wait!”

Suddenly she shot up in the big soft guest bed panting heavily.
First the nightmare about the lab and then this. Even if I appreciate it that they care for me, I think that they are better without me.

She walked to the bedroom to see Nina and Johann sleeping peacefully. “I wanted to thank you for taking care of me but I- I am so sorry.” She let her tears fall and putted the clothes on that Nina made for her, before she left, unware of the Danger on the streets.

Chapter: 7 Panzerhund encounter

Nina woke up with a yawn. It was in the middle of the night. The rain had become a thunderstorm. Her husband was still sleeping. This is a terrible Thunderstorm. I better look after Dinky to see if she needs comfort.
The guest bed however, was empty. She panicked as she saw that Dinky clothes were gone. “Oh no,” She sprinted to her husband, “Johann, wake up!”

Johann woke up instantly of the voice of his wife. “What’s wrong?” He asked sleepy.

“Dinky’s missing!” After these words, Johann was on full alert. He jumped out of the bed and dialed Kurt’s number on the phone

“Ja what is it? Do you have any idea how late it is?”

“Kurt, it’s me, Johann.” Kurt knew instantly what happened after he heard the concern in Johann’s voice.

“Don’t worry, I will find her. I will go immediately.” Both men had read the newspaper about the prisoner that was eaten alive by a Panzerhund. Both prayed that Dinky wouldn’t end like this too.
Kurt alerted his men and went outside to find Dinky.

Dinky trotted aimlessly through the streets of Berlin. The rain was strong, but the coat was waterproof. Maybe I should have stayed at my new home. She thought after lighting and thunder came.
She searched shelter in an abandoned building. “I miss you so much, Big sister. I wish I could see you again,” She whimpered as she let out a few tears. She loved her family. She curled herself into a ball.

Suddenly, she heard some kind of mechanic paw steps and a mechanic roar. She looked up only to see some kind of very large mechanic Dog with sparks coming out of his head. Dinky let out a scream and ran for her life. Somebody, help!” she screamed, panting heavily while running.

She was so scared and in panic, that she wasn’t watching where she was running and she tripped. She landed with a hard thud in a buddle. Her leg was injured. She was holding her knee.

The Panzerhund lunged at her, but to her luck, the ground collapsed, sending her with another hard thud in the Sewers. But now the pain was so great, that she was unable to move and trapped as the Panzerhund was not able to get her but still tried. She cried in pain as the situation was hopeless.

Chapter 8: Comfort and cold

Kurt and his men searched the city but without success. “We will never find her, the city is too huge,” One soldier complained. Kurt opened his mouth to reply but he heard crying and a cry for help.

“Over there!” He shouted as he saw Dinky through a window. The Panzerhund was trying to get her and tried to dig a hole. Dinky cried more as he was almost through.

“Commander, we got to save her fast!”

“I know, open fire!” They fired at the Panzerhund to get him away from Dinky. The distraction worked and he turned at the Soldiers.

It was unusual for a commander to use a grenade, but Kurt thought that this could work as he saw the damaged head.
“Hey doggie!” He showed a grenade, “Fetch!” He threw it and to his surprise it worked, as the Panzerhund catches it and exploded.

Kurt jumped down to Dinky. “M-my knee… it hurts,” She cried as she clenched her eyes shut.

“Shh… it’s okay sweetie.” he very gently lifted her up, being cautious of her knee, and gave her to Hans, the team medic. Then he climbed up. Although every soldier had completed training for medics, the medics were far better equipped with this knowledge, what kept low the rate of loss of the regime.

“Don’t worry Dinky, as far as I can see, it’s not that serious,” Hans said in a comforting tone. He had blond hair and brown eyes.

“Wha-What was this thing?”

“A Panzerhund. Created by General Strasse, it is a super-efficient murder machine encased in titanium steel armor and fitted with bone-crushing metal jaws that can cut through the thickest of body armor. But don’t worry, you’re safe now.”

“P-p-please Kurt. D-don’t tell N-Nina that I-I got my clothes dirty.” All soldiers couldn't help, but tear up their selves.

“Don’t worry, I won’t. Hans, you are coming with me, Müller, inform Johann and Nina and the rest of you clean up this mess.”

“Yes, Sir!”

The rain stopped as they arrived at Kurt’s house. “Thanks for saving me.”

“No need to thanks, it’s our job. Besides, if someone bothers you, just tell me and I will take care of it.”

Hans opened his doctor bag. Dinky's fore hoofs had scratches on them, and they were bleeding a bit. “This will sting a bit, but I promise you will feel better.”

He pulled out a small cloth, and used it to dab at the blood. “What made you run away, Dinky? Johann and Nina are nice people,” Kurt asked. Dinky was afraid to tell about the dream but Hans took notice as he was now wrapping the gauze gently around her hoofs.

“It’s okay sweetheart, you can tell us.” He gave her a warm smile, reaching his hand to stroke at her mane after he took the Toque off.

She looked into his eyes fearfully, but spoke shakily, “I dreamed that some of Strasse's men wanted to take me away, but Johann and Nina tried to stop them. They both were killed. For this, the Leader that called himself Keller also killed me. I ran away because I don’t want to cause trouble.”
She started to cry a little, but felt Hans hand wipe away her tears.

Hans closed his eyes to subdue his own tears as he opened them up again to take a look at her knee. Her knee was scratched up and bleeding, like her hoofs. He carefully used the cloth to dab at the blood, and then after he got all the blood cleaned up, he applied the ointment.

He placed a large sized Band-Aid over the little filly’s knees, giving her a warm smile. “There you go little one, all better.”

“Thank you, Hans.”

“It’s my job. If you should get sick just call me and I will make you feel better.”

“Dinky, get some rest, Johann and Nina should be here soon.” He laid her down on the sofa and pulled a warm blanket over her.

“Okay Kurt, but can I call you my uncle?”

“Yes, dear.” Dinky let out a yawn and a warm smile before she drifted off to sleep.

“Two nightmares in a row can’t be good.” Kurt looked at Hans.

“Yes. I have once read if someone has the same nightmare over and over again, it will become true.”

There were interrupted by the doorbell. Kurt opened the door to reveal Johann and Nina. She hugged him instantly. “Thank you for finding and saving her.” She walked over to Dinky and stroked gently her Mane.

“She begged me not to tell you that she got her clothes dirty.” Nina looked at Kurt with tears in her eyes, then to Dinky.

Nina whispered in her ear,
"Shh… Dinky sweetheart, don't be afraid of getting your clothes dirty. I am not mad at you at all precious. I can get it washed up without any trouble. Please little one, don't cry, your Mommy Nina is here." She gave her a light kiss on her cheek.

“Can you tell us why she ran away?” Johann asked.

Kurt sighed, “She had another nightmare. She dreamed that you both died when you tried to defend her. She also said that she don’t want to cause you trouble.”

Both gasped. Nina frowned as she saw her shaking, and could hear faint little sobs. "Oh, my precious little one." She nuzzled her. "Mommy’s here Dinky, please don't cry. You won’t cause us trouble, because you’re actually the best what happened in our lives.”

“She had only minor injuries, but I already took care of them. If she should become sick, I am your man.”

“Thank you, Hans.” Johann gave him a high five.

Dinky started to stir, and slowly opened her eyes. She felt guilty for running away.
“I’m sorry for running away. I just don’t want to get you into trouble.” She whimpered.

Nina wrapped her arms around her. “Of course sweetie, we forgive you, you done nothing wrong, but have a bad dream, that is all.” She looked into her eyes. “We will always love you no matter what. And we are always here for you if you want to talk.
Would you like for me to take your clothes to wash it, precious?"

“Yes please, Mommy.” She took her clothes off. Johann loaded them into their car.

Dinky let out a little yawn. Nina let out a giggle, “Is our little filly sleepy?” She kissed the top of her head.

She nodded, “Yes Mommy, I am sleepy.” She rubbed her eyes.

“Goodnight, sweetheart!” Hans and Kurt said in unison.

Johann smiled warmly at his friends, “Goodnight, my friends. We will see you tomorrow.” He waved before he walked out with Nina and Dinky.

After Nina, Johann and Dinky returned home from an exhausting night, Nina was tucking Dinky into the warm, soft bed. “Goodnight sweetie and remember: If you have any bad dreams you are always welcome in our bedroom.”

"Yes Mommy.” Since it was still night, Dinky was fast asleep.

Nina went into their own bed, Johann joined shortly after he put Dinky’s clothes into the washing machine.
“Goodnight, my dear wife. I love you.”

“I love you too.”

The next morning, Johann went to check Dinky. He heard coughing followed by a “ACHOO!“

“Dinky, are you alright?” He asked as he walked in. Dinky’s nose was red and she coughed.

“No. I think I’ve got a cold last night. My throat hurts when I must cough and I can’t breathe since my nose is dense. Achoo!”

Nina heard everything and called Hans. Within 15 minutes he was here.
After he examined Dinky, his diagnosis was clear, “You have got a cold. But with rest and if you drink much you will be recovering in no time.” He grabbed a nasal spray out of his bag. “Here, a nasal spray for you. One spray in the morning, noon and before you go to bed, okay?”

“Yes, doctor.”

“And here is a lollipop for you.”

"Thank you, Doctor.”

Nina was alone since Hans and Johann had to left for work. She put a bottle of water and a box of tissues on the nightstand for Dinky.
“Mommy, Achoo! If I have only a cold, why are my throat and my head hurting?” She was coughing violently.

“Your head and throat are hurting, because of your nose. Your throat hurts because he is dry which comes because you are breathing through your mouth instead of your Nose. But it will become better when you are drinking much, which is the reason why I gave you a bottle of water. And your Head hurts because since your nose and the sinuses are dense, pressure builds up. But like the doctor said, with rest and much drinking, you will be fine in no time.” Dinky’s stomach growled.

"Should I make you a soup? Keeps warm and helps against your cold.”

"Yes, I would like that.”

“If you need me, just call me, okay?” Dinky nodded before she blows her nose into a tissue.

After Nina had made and brought the soup to Dinky, she heard the Doorbell. “Just a Moment.”

The neighbors waited outside. Nina was surprised. “Yes, can I help you?” Then she noticed that the Children, a girl and a boy were holding a basket full of chocolate.

“Karl, Anja, long time not see.” They were the Children of Franz and Eva. They were the neighbors which Nina had to babysit.

“We are here to wish your daughter a speedy recovery,” Anja said. Franz had blond hair with blue eyes and his sister, brown hair with green eyes.

Nina smiled, “Come in.” Since Johann told her that Franz and Eva knew about Dinky and that they promised to keep this a secret, she knew that she could trust them.

“Can we see her, if you don’t mind?”

“Yes of course, I am sure that she will be happy about your visit. But don’t get too excited, okay?”

“Yes, Ma’am!” both said.

“Dinky, you have visit.” Nina called out.

Dinky was confused, “Who’s there?”

Nina walked in, Anja and Karl behind her. “May I introduce: Anja and Karl, the kids of Franz and Eva, our neighbors.”

"Hello you two. *cough*”

“Hello. Dinky right?” She nodded. “This is so exciting! We are here to wish you a speedy recovery. Also, I never saw a real unicorn before.” Anja was excited.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you but don’t come too close, I don’t want to infect you. Achoo!”

“Okay. You look very cute. Do you want some chocolate?” Karl asked.

“But of course.” Nina made some cookies for the kids, while they shared the chocolate and chatted.

“Here, I made some cookies for you."

“Thank you, Mrs. Bauer,” Karl and Anja said.

Nina giggled. “Please, Nina is just fine.” She smiled when she left as Dinky had fun with Karl and Anja.
She knew that they would be good friends to Dinky. Nina whistled while she cleaned Dinky’s clothes. I don’t know how long it takes, but I fell already like a mother to her. And I should enjoy every minute of it. She thought.

Dinky showed Anja and Karl some Magic. It was little bit difficult thanks to the cold.

“Wow, you can use Magic?” Anja was speechless.

“Yes, but only basic spells. I tried a more advanced spell, which caused me to show up here.” She lowered her ears.

“Don’t worry; we will make your stay as comfortable as possible. Our parents wanted to visit the London Nautica. If you are healthy again, you can come with us. What do you think?” Karl asked.

Dinky’s ears stood again. “I was already there, but of course I come with you.

“Nice. We see you tomorrow,” Anja said before she and her brother had to leave.

Chapter 9: Fun in the snow

Dinky had fully recovered after a few weeks. While she was sick, Karl and Anja came regularly to visit. Dinky was pleased every time she saw them, and so was Nina as Dinky had found some friends around her age.

Now, it was the beginning of November. Dinky prepared to leave. “And remember Dinky: Have fun.”

“Yes, Mommy.” She stepped into Franz’s Mercedes. Franz was a successful businessman with black hair and blue eyes, while his wife was a teacher with brown hair and green eyes.

Like Johann and Nina, they did not believe in the Regime. They just wanted to live their lives.
While they were on their way to the London Nautica, they came across the Monuments of Truth.
Dinky looked at the statues in awe. “Can I ask what these statues are?”

“That is the Monuments of Truth. The statues were built to commemorate Germany’s victory in World War II. An annual parade is held each fall which crosses the bridge that was built between the two statues of the monument. This parade street continues all the way up to the entrance of the Volkshalle. The Monuments of Truth were commissioned by our leader to celebrate, in his own words, ‘the spirit of the people which led this great nation to victory’ as far as I can remember,” Eva explained.

After a while, they arrived in the snowy London. They all were greeted by Kurt, “Good morning, Franz.”

“Morning.”

“Uncle Kurt!”

Dinky hugged him. “Hello again Dinky. It’s nice to see you again.”

Even if Dinky had already seen the museum, it was still fun with Karl and Anja. They even got an autograph from Hans Armstark and Otto Emmerich.

After their tour, they had lunch in the Restaurant that was in the London Nautica. The kids had Fish and chips while the adults had soup. The kids enjoyed it, despite it was not very healthy.

“I never ate that before. Still it was delicious.” Dinky and Anja agreed with Karl.

After lunch, the Children played in the snow. Karl and Anja built a snowman while Dinky built a snowpony. “Dinky, what is this?” Karl asked confused.

“Well, in Equestria we built snowponies instead of snowmen. Do you have a carrot left?"

“Yes, why?”

“For the tail. Tada!” she shouted happy after the carrot was on the butt of the snow pony. Johann, Kurt, Eva and Franz smiled at the cute snowpony.

“I have an Idea. How about a Snowball Fight versus the adults?” Dinky asked.

The answer was a snowball that landed into Kurt’s face. “You want a war? You get a war!” He replied before a second snowball hit him.
Even if the Kids were outnumbered, they quickly gained the upper hand.

After the fight, the kids did made snow angels.

After a long but fun day, Dinky was sitting together with Johann and Nina at the fireplace.
“This was fun.” Dinky warmed herself at the fireplace.

“Yes it was. I never had so much fun for years.”

Still Dinky let out a sigh, “This reminds me when I sat with my family at the fireplace. Still, I hope that they find me and I am grateful for your care.” She let out a yawn and fell asleep. Nina putted a blanket over her.

“She is so cute when she is asleep. Still, it is heartbreaking how much she misses her family.”
“I have an Idea. How about I take her to work? You know, take your daughter to work. So she can see how my job is.”
“Good Idea.”

They heard the filly whimpering in her sleep, they had come to love with all their hearts. Nina leaned her head down to Dinky’s, nuzzled at her cheek, and whispered soothingly into her ear, “Shh… it’s okay little one, we here to protect you…shh.”

Dinky woke up at the motherly voice. She frowned, “I wanna apologize for running away. That Dog still hunts me in my dreams.”

Nina frowned at the fear she saw in her eyes and nuzzled at her little hoof gently. “No sweetheart, you have nothing to apologize for.” She gave her a warm, reassuring smile. She let out a sigh as she looked into her eyes.

“Don’t worry, it’s over Dinky.” But Dinky started to sob,

“Even if it was weeks ago, when that dog attacked me, I was so scared that it would eat me. I thought I would die and end in his stomach. But Kurt and his men saved me. And Hans helped make my knee feel better.”

Nina smiled warmly as she continued to stroke at her back gently. “That’s right little one. There are those who do care about you with all their hearts and will always be there for you in the time of need.” She kissed her gently on the forehead.

“But I think you should go to bed. Johann wants to show you how his work is. What do you say?”

“I would like that,” Dinky said before she yawned one last time and fell asleep. Nina carried the filly into bed before she went into their own with her husband.

“I enjoy every minute with her Johann.”

“So I do. Goodnight.” He went to bed and so did Nina.

Chapter 10: Take your filly to work

When the morning came, Johann walked into the guest room. He smiled as Dinky slept peaceful. Gently, he put a hand on her to wake her. “Dinky, it’s time to wake up.”

Dinky let out a yawn and stretched herself. “Good morning, Daddy. What’s for breakfast?”

“I made you some Toast.”

After they finished breakfast, they brushed their teeth and left for Work.

They had to pass a checkpoint. “Papers, please.” The Guard said. Johann showed his papers. “Thanks. Now be on your way. Have a nice Day.”
At the entrance, Johann was saluted by a regular Soldier and a Luftwaffe soldier.

“Good morning.”

“Morning.” Dinky hid behind his back as she was a little timid.

“Is this your Daughter?” The masked Soldier asked.

“Yes. I wanted to show her how my work is here.”

“You look so cute in that unicorn costume,” His comrade commented.

Dinky blushed, “Thank you.”

“This masked man reminded me of my nightmare.”

“This is how the regular infantry looks like. Even if most of the Soldiers that are deployed here are part of the Luftwaffe, there are also a few regular Soldiers deployed here.”

Kurt joined them. “Reporting for Duty.”

“At ease.” Kurt kneeled down to Dinky, “How’s my little pony doing?” He ruffled playfully her mane.

"I am doing great, Uncle Kurt.”

“Glad to hear it. Johann, you and I were called to a meeting in the meeting room.”

“Great. And what about her?”

“I think I can help,” An unknown voice said.

“Mom! Dad!” Johann didn’t expect to see his parents. “What are you doing here?”

“We thought we look how our son is doing at work,” His Dad replied. He had gray hair and brown eyes, his wife green eyes.

“You never told us that you have a daughter. Isn’t she cute?” His mother asked.

“Kurt, you go ahead, I come right after.” As Kurt left, Johann told his parents how he found Dinky which she confirmed.

“Oh, you poor child. But we can take care of you until the meeting is over, is this ok for you, Johann?”

“Yes, mother. It is ok for you, Dinky?”

“Yes, daddy.” Johann’s parents knew instantly that she acted like that to avoid suspicion.

“Ok, see you later.” Johann went to the meeting room.

“So, what do you want to do Dinky?” Johann’s mother asked

Before she could answer another voice spoke up, “Hello little one, long time not see.”

Dinky turned around to see the Fire trooper she met on her first visit. “Hello again.”

“Do you want to come with me to the shooting range?”

Mr. and Mrs. Bauer however disagreed, “She is in our Care. Besides, it is too dangerous for her,” Mr. Bauer said.

“Don’t worry; we have a room for visitors. Do you want to come too?”

“I am not a fan of guns but why not,” Dinky said.

“Ok, follow me.”

When the Fire trooper was out of hearing range, Dinky asked, “Would you mind if I call you my Grandparents?”

“Not at all, Dinky.”

At the shooting range, Dinky and her ‘grandparents’ were given earmuffs and safety goggles. But to be completely safe, they were behind bulletproof glass.

Several soldiers and commanders practiced with their assault rifles and handguns. This was the first time she saw the three-burst mode.
The Fire Trooper loaded his Shotgun. Dinky looked at it with curiosity. “This is the Automatic Shotgun. Standard weapon for Fire troopers. It can be fired fully automatic or semi-automatic. Uses a 20 round magazine." He fired the Shotgun fully automatic with the standard Buck shot. While Dinky was not a fan of it, it was still interesting.

“There is also the ricochet shot.” Then he switched to the ricochet ammo with a click and fired the shotgun semi-automatic. He aimed at a wall. Dinky saw how the ricochet rounds ricocheted at the wall and hit the target. “Some Troopers also are dual wielding shotguns.” Then he fired two shotguns.

Dinky smiled as she saw Hans. “Hans!” She ran to him.

“Hello Dinky.” Dinky looked at his rifle. It looked different than the Assault rifle. It had a white body and a scope attached.

“Hans, this isn’t the Assault rifle. What kind of rifle do you have?” She pointed with a hoof at it.

“That’s the AR Marksman rifle. Standard Sniper rifle. It has a 10 round magazine. The Space Marines and Troopers, use it in its secondary firing mode.”

He switched to the secondary firing mode. The scope was swung over the right side and revealed an energy counter and the barrel was retracted.

“In this mode it fires blue bolts of plasma that are lethal to anything it hits.”
He fired some shots to demonstrate it. “Very useful if an enemy comes to close. The Soldiers on the Moon use it only in is plasma firing mode. However, the battery runs dry fast, but it can be recharged at any Charging Station, see?”
He recharged at the Charging Station right next to him. Dinky was impressed by this technology.

“I never saw such impressing technology.”

“Yes kid, it is impressive what technology we had invented over the years,” The Fire Trooper said.

“Look at the time. The meeting must be over,” Dinky’s ‘grandpa’ said as he looked on his pocket watch.

Johann stood guard at the Door. The meeting was about the colonizing of the Venus.

Kurt came out. “Was this boring. I’m glad that this meeting is over or else I had fallen asleep.”

“What was the meeting about?”

“About the Venus. You know, floating city, drones and such. But for now, let’s look after Dinky.”

When they arrived at the shooting range, Johann saw his mother giving Dinky a belly rubs while asking, “Who’s a good filly? You’re a good filly! Yes you are!” Dinky giggled.

Kurt and Johann smiled. “Looks like you had a good time Dinky. But now, let’s get home.”
Before they left, Johann putted his cap on Dinky’s head. Again, she giggled. Johann was happy every time he saw Dinky happy.

At home, Nina came out of the kitchen. “I made gingerbread for you, Dinky.”

“Thank you.” She enjoined the gingerbread with great pleasure. After some bread for Dinner, she went into bed.

“She is such a sweet filly. But still we have to stay in line. Otherwise we are dead and Dinky is doomed as Deathshead’s test subject for his terrifying experiments.”

“You’re right, my dear wife. It just takes one bad fruit to spoil the whole basket,” Her husband replied before they were asleep.

Chapter 11: Max Hass

A week passed after Dinky met Johann’s parents. Nina danced with Dinky to The Bunkers - Toe the Line. Nina loved being a mother, she always knew she would.

She smiled at Dinky, “And now my dear, it’s time for cake.” Dinky smiled back. She loved cake as much as muffins. She told Nina and Johann about Mr. and Mrs. Cake who owned the Sugarcube Corner, a bakery and confectionery in Ponyville which Products were loved by foals.
However, Dinky saw a car driving by. Two Commandos of Deathshead stepped out and walked to the Front door. Nina saw them as well and told Dinky to hide.

Nina opened the Door for the commandos. “Hello. Can I help you?”

“Yes, Frau Bauer. We are here for the filly.”

“Filly? I don’t what you are talking about.” Nina lied nervously. She saw how two other Soldiers dragged Franz and his Family out of their Home. All handcuffed. She saw the frightened look on Karl’s and Anja’s faces. Eva screamed with despair and her face was wet with tears and her eyes were bright red. Her Husband's eyes were downcast.

Nina knew what would happen now. “Don’t act surprised, we know about her. Müller, search the filly.”

“Yes, Sir!” Müller shoved her away and stepped in. He found Dinky frightened and cowering under the guest bed.

“Wait!” Nina yelled but to no avail.

Dinky screamed in fear as Müller grabbed her and handcuffed her. He also put some device on her horn. She tried to fight against it but to no avail. “I found her.”

“Good. Now get her into the car.” The commandos made to leave.

“NEIN!” Nina screamed and leapt forward for Dinky. The Commando stopped her with an arm while Müller leaved for the car. Dinky still struggled but Müller knocked her out. “You Monster!”

The Commando just looked cold-blooded at Nina. “We only handle for the benefit of the Regime.”

“NEIN!” she yelled again, now clawing for the Commandos eyes. He held her wrists in a vice like grip and kneed her in the stomach. Winded, she doubled over.

“I will be merciful and spare you. But this Filly is only an animal that must be put to use for the benefit of our glorious country, even if you see her as your daughter.”

The commando walked away and shut the door. Nina couldn’t see, couldn’t breathe she was sobbing so much. She slowly fell to her knees, rolled onto her side and let out an ear-piercing scream.

Dinky awoke in the car. She heard the Commandos talking. “You know what our orders are, Dieter?”

“Yes. Take her to Deathshead.” Dinky couldn’t believe it. Her nightmares came true. Suddenly there was a bang.

“Dieter! A Tire is burst! I lose control!” The car broke through a bridge railing and fell into the water.

The Commandos died from the impact. Dinky was thrown out of the car. She couldn’t swim with the cuffs on. She felt something grabbing her before she lost consciousness.

Her vision comes and goes. She saw a silhouette that tried to revive her with CPR. As her vision slowly came, she heard the silhouette say, “You’re still breathing, lucky you!”

I know that voice. But from where?

Her vision fully returned. She saw her savior. It was the same man she saw when she was in the hanger bay. The terrorist! She crawled backwards up against a concrete wall. “Please don’t hurt me,” She begged.

“Don’t worry, I won’t hurt you kid. Let me remove the cuffs.” He lock picked the cuffs and removed the device on her horn.

“Thank you. What’s your name?”

“Name’s William Joseph Blazkowicz. But most people call me B.J.”

“Name’s Dinky Hooves. What are you doing down here?”

“Retrieving a welder from my buddy Wyatt. Come with me to the resistance HQ. You will be safe there,” Blazkowicz explained.

Dinky knew she had no other choice. “Ok, I come with you.”

Blazkowicz couldn’t help himself but smile. “You know, you remind me of that girl I had met 14 years ago.”

“You’re girlfriend?”

“No. 14 Years ago, I had to find a folder in Wulfburg. The girl helped me. Her name was Annette Krause. I saved her from death like I saved you. I don’t know if she is still alive.”

“You fought in the War? What happened?”

“The folder was necessary to attack Deathshead's Compound. The attack failed. I and my buddy Wyatt were the only survivors.”

“Sorry to hear that.”

“It’s alright. When I had to find the folder, I said to myself: No hill for a stepper, right, Billy boy? Father used to call me that.”

Dinky giggled. “My mama calls me Muffin.”

“Cute name. How did you end up here?”

Dinky’s ears dropped. “It’s a long story. I think it is better when I tell you at the HQ.”

“You’re right, Dinky.”

While they walked through the underground of Berlin, they heard a conversation.

“There was a knock on the door. I took a look outside and I saw these men dressed in black talking to the neighbors. The wife was all crying with her children in her arms. Then, I saw how Franz’s family was taken away. They were gone. The entire Family.”

“What’d they do?”

“I don’t know. But Johann’s wife let out an ear-piercing scream.”

Dinky began to sob as she heard this. “What’s wrong, kid?”

“Franz kid’s, they were my friends. Now they are gone. Because of me!” B.J. couldn’t believe it. She was blaming herself for this.

“Listen Dinky, it wasn’t your fault. And I have a friend in the HQ had would be pleased to meet you.”

“You sure?”

"Yes.”

They came to an abandoned storage room. Dinky walked to one of the containment pods. “I wonder what’s in there.”

“Better stay away from that Dinky. One of my comrades came too close to it and… it ended not well.” B.J. said as he remembered what happened to Blondie. “There must be a switch to open the gate. Aha, there!”

B.J. used the switch. An alert went off and the door opened. But also one of the pods fell off. “Dinky, get to cover.”

"Why?” The answer was a 1946 Super Soldier that broke out. Dinky panicked, screamed and went to cover behind some debris.

B.J. fired his LaserKraftWerk. He killed the Super Soldier but the battery was empty. Then a second Soldier broke out of the pod dinky had examined. The former Us soldier grabbed the MG 46 from the killed Soldier and fired it at the second Super Soldier. His face mask fell off revealing his heavily scarred; nose-less face after he died.

B.J. charged the LKW and looked after Dinky. She cried. “Shh, it’s over.”

“What was that thing?”

“A Super Soldier from 1946. Come on, where’re almost there.” Dinky had to throw up as she saw the face of the Super Soldier.

“Sorry. It’s just; I am not used to something like this.”

“It’s alright. I have seen much worse things in my life. I have seen things that churn your stomach. Turns your hair white.” Then she felt a great pain in her right foreleg. A bullet had hit her.

Dinky let out a cry of pain, but B.J. grabbed a First Aid Kit and treated her wound. “Don’t worry. I have a girlfriend named Anya Oliwa. She can help you.”

He lifted Dinky careful up. She was startled by the abrupt closing of the gate, but B.J. stroked her mane to calm her down. At the HQ, he mumbled, “Long walk for a lousy welder.”

“Set, I got the welder.”

"Thank you Herr Blazkowicz. Who’s this?” He pointed at Dinky.

“Is this the filly you saw in the hanger bay?” Caroline asked which B.J. confirmed with a nod. “Anya, get a towel.” Caroline saw how Dinky was freezing. Anya noticed her wound after she dried Dinky.

“Oh you poor kid. Let me take care of your wound.” Since Anya was a nurse, she knew how to treat wounds properly. “This will hurt a little but I promise I make it as painless as possible.”

It was uncharacteristic for B.J. as he gently holds Dinky’s unharmed fore hoof and spoke to her, “I’m gonna teach you a trick. Inhale, count to four. Exhale. Count to four.” Dinky’s shivering stopped a little.

Still, Dinky had to grit her teeth and wince a little in pain. “It’s ok sweetheart, I’m done, see?” Anya gave her a warm smile.

“Thank you, Miss Anya and Mister Blazkowicz.”

B.J.’s and Anya’s hearts melted. “You don’t need to be such polite, Anya and Blazkowicz is just fine. If I may ask sweetheart, what is your name?”

“Dinky Hooves. B.J. saved me from drowning and the bad metal men.”

Anya looked sad at her. “How did you end up here?”

Dinky eyes began to water. Her crying ceased when Anya put an arm around her, and pulled her close. “I know we just meet but… I just want to let you know that you can tell us anything.”

"O-okay..." Dinky took the deepest breath of her life.

She told them from where she was, how Johann found her and what she had experienced. Blazkowicz then told them how he found her and saved her when he was on his way back and how the wound came. “And I thought the Super Soldier in Deathshead compound was bad enough,” Wyatt commented

Everyone was on the verge of tears. “Don’t worry kid. You are safe here. And we will fight on your behalf,” Klaus said.

That Johann… he’d make a pretty good father… for one of them. B.J. thought.

“If I may introduce: Caroline Becker, leader of the Kreisau Circle,”

“Hello Dinky,” The woman in the wheelchair said.

“My buddy Wyatt,” Wyatt waved friendly.

“J, the Guitarist of our group,”

“Hi there.”

“Set Roth, our Engineer if I can say so,”
"Hello little one.”

“Bombate,” He waved too.

“And Klaus Kreutz, a former officer of the regime.”

Dinky just gave a weak smile. “Nice to meet to all. But can you send Johann and Nina a message that I’m alright?”

“Sorry kid. But we cannot risk exposing our base of operation. But you can stay here,” Caroline replied. Dinky just wanted to cry. But not in front of the adults.

“Why do you not look around? Get to know the place,” Wyatt asked.

“Okay.”
She walked around. She was careful as the wound was still hurting. She read all the newspapers in the HQ. All the people who escaped from the camp greeted her.

After she found a corner without being seen, she started to sob, “Mama, Mommy, I miss you so much.”

After a while she heard someone say, “Max Hass?” Dinky looked up. She saw a boy with a deformed Head.

“Just leave me alone,” She sobbed.

But the boy hugged her to cheer her up. “Max Hass.”

“Thanks. I needed that.”

“Ah, there you are. I see you made already met Max.” Klaus joined them. “Max, why don’t you show her your room? She would make a good playmate for you.”

“Max Hass.” Max gestured her to follow. In his room, he showed her his drawn picture.

“Looks nice Max. Can I draw too?” Max nodded. Dinky drew a picture of herself, Johann and Nina.

“This are my Papa and Mama. Do you like it?”

A positive “Max Hass” was the answer.

Blazkowicz came in. “Sorry to interrupt but can I speak you for a minute, Dinky?”

“Sure. I’ll be right back Max.”

They walked into the Hanger bay. “Actually, I wanted to ask you something B.J. Why did you spare Johann?”

B.J. just said, “You know, I hate the Regime. But when I saw how he begged me to spare you, I knew that he was not like the others.”

“What do you mean?”

“I saw many Soldiers of the Regime that were merciless and brutal. They even did not spare Children. But Johann seemed to be different. He cared for you. That’s why I spared him. To give him a chance. And I would never kill in front of Children.”

“That’s terrible.”

“I know. Klaus has a similar story like him. Used to be Klaus had a son. Born during the war. A miracle he called it. They tried for years to have a child. Him and his wife. The Child was born with a club foot. Klaus knew of course what that meant. He begged the doctors not to report it to the authorities. When Secret Police showed up to take the boy away… …Klaus and his wife tried to stop him. The wife died from a bullet to the head. The child too. Klaus… could not protect them.”

"So he blames himself?”

“I think so. And he will never forgive the regime.”

“That’s horrible. Just like Johann’s story. Only worse. And like my nightmare.
I once dreamed that a man called Keller wanted to take me away. Johann and Nina were killed. Keller… he… killed me too.”

“Don’t worry, Dinky. You are safe here. And don’t worry about Keller. I took care of him long before you showed up. And everyone here is here for you. Besides, since Klaus sees Max as his Son, I’m sure that he will like you too.” He ruffled playfully her Mane.

Dinky giggled, “I’m sure you would be a good father too,” she lowered her ears, “I just hope that Nina and Johann do not worry too much about me.”

“Don’t worry, Dinky. I promise I will find a way to inform them that you are fine. But I still have something to do. And Max is waiting for you.”

"Thank you B.J.!”

Dinky went back to Max and they played with his Toys. She had so much fun with him that she didn’t noticed how William and Anya had their “private Time.”

Meanwhile above the HQ

Johann drove as fast as he could, after he heard about the arrest of Franz’s family. He knew if they got visit, that his Wife will get visit too.
He saw his wife crying on the floor. “Nina!” He checked her.

“I’m so sorry Johann! I did what I could, but they took her! I’m a horrible mother!” She cried her heart out. Johann did his best to comfort his wife. Kurt joined them after a while.

“I don’t know how to put this, but she seems to be safe and sound.”

“What makes you think that?” Johann asked close to despair.

“The Commandos who took her… they never arrived at Deathshead compound.”

"What do you mean?” Nina managed to pull herself together. “The Commandos had a car crash. They died but Dinky’s body was not found. The car has a broken window which means she was thrown out of the car when the crash happened. Divers searched the water after her. They found only the cuffs and the device. That means that somebody saved her from drowning. But Franz’s family was sent into a camp. We cannot do anything for them.”

“If you say so Kurt, we can only hope whoever found her, does not report her to the authorities nor is a terrorist.” Johann prayed for her safety.
“If I get my hands on the one who reported her presence to the authorities.” Kurt burned in anger.

Chapter 12: A helping hoof

The next Morning, Dinky had slept well. Max offered her to sleep with him which she didn’t refuse.

She trotted to the bottom floor until she heard sobbing. She followed it into the archive. She saw a woman. “Is something wrong?” Dinky asked innocently.

The woman stopped her sobbing. “Oh, I’m sorry, it’s just… My wedding ring. It’s gone. I’m always so clumsy. I lost it when we got back. It’s not worth much, but it’s all I have left from him. My dear Sebastian.” It reminded Dinky so much of her mother as the bullies at school always called her being clumsy. So she searched the ring.

She found it at the toilet on the upper floor. She lifted the ring with her Magic up and trotted back to the archive. “Here, I found it.” Anne looked up.

“Oh, my lord. You…found it. Thank you.” She hugged Dinky with tears of Joy.

“I always help where I can.” Dinky smiled.

“You’re a good filly, Dinky.”

Dinky leaved to the hanger bay. She saw how Wyatt worked at one of the helicopters. “Can I help you Wyatt? I always helped my daddy at such things.”

“Sure. Can you give me that screwdriver?”

“No problem.” She lifted the screwdriver over to him.

"Thank you, Dinky.”

“These are the helicopters that are silent, right?” She looked at them with great interest.

"That’s right kid. Silently and invisible for the Radar. I must admit that they are a fine piece of German engineering. And they have no cable inside. I must say it is fascinating.” Dinky knew from Project Whisper as Johann had told her once about it.

After she helped Wyatt, she looked after Anya. “How’s it going, Dinky?”

“My hoof is getting better. Can I ask how Blazkowicz have got his scar?”

“He got it from an explosion. He was 14 years in the insane asylum that was leaded by my parents, before the regime closed it. He saved my life back there and I am very grateful. Four inches of cast iron shrapnel right in the conk. Still in there. The removal would make it worse.”

“Ouch. That must have hurt.” Dinky did not want to imagine how much that must hurt.

“You know Dinky, before the war, I was at the University of London. I wanted to make a doctorate in archaeology. But as the war started, I had to go back home. I was only 16. But for the University I learned from my parents how to use a typewriter. If you want I could teach it you.”

“Yes please.”

Caroline joined them, after Dinky learned and practiced on the typewriter. “Hello, Dinky."

“Hello, Caroline. I’m sorry about your legs.”

“Don’t be Dinky. I have three pulverized vertebrae, a severed colon and a shattered pelvis but that doesn’t stop me from leading the Kreisau Circle.”

That must even hurt more. Dinky thought before she saw two letters on a bed. “Caroline, do you know to whom these letters belong?” Caroline had a sad expression.

“Bobby Bram. He was the one who caused the explosion at the London Nautica. He used to own a baker shop in South East London. During the Blitz, the baker shop was hit by a German bomb, but fortunately Bobby was out on an errand that day. The next week, Bobby was drafted into the Army. He kissed his wife Charlotte goodbye and was shipped out to the continent. Years later, he would visit her grave in Regime-occupied London.
You can read his letters if you want.” Dinky felt sorry for him. Still, she read his letter that was addressed to his wife.

Charlotte

do you remember the red cat?
how it begged by our window and how you fed it shrimps?
or the snail on the porch, who fell down the table into your knee?

do you remember the sunny side of Primrose Hill,
the broken glass of Clapham Pride and the nursery school,
the one you said our politicians killed?

do you remember how your smile turned into tears?
how you flew and flew into my arms
and laughed and kissed music into my ears?

do you remember how your anger turned into fear?
how you listened and listened to talks and talks
and how all the promises disappeared?

do you remember the red cat?
how it craved and how it came back every day?
(I think it belonged to Ms. Calloway, I'm not sure,
but it would explain why it didn't when she moved away)
do you remember Moni's smile?
how she laughed and laughed at this clownish snail?
how she ran down the slopes of Primrose Hill
and her first taste of beer and her eyes when blood appear?
or outside the playground?
tears and tears and hugs and all the hugs
and how she danced into the air?
and how I love you dear?
how I love you dear

He loved his wife with all his heart. Dinky let out a tear. It reminded her so much of her parents and Johann and Nina. Then she read Charlotte's letter.

East London
4th October, 1948

My Dear Bobby,
It's Saturday night and the bombs have barely stopped falling when I sit down to write this letter. I'm on the roof of the building where the Auxiliary
Fire Service has set up a fire station. I'm drinking a cup of coffee and smoking a cigarette and I can still here the klaxons ringing in my ear and the whistling sound the bombs make as they fall from the sky.
From up here, I can see across London. Even in its ravaged state, it's still so sordidly beautiful, isn't it? Old and rough and grimy. My home and my heart.
Thank you for your letters, my love. I can't begin to tell you how much they mean to me. I hope my reluctance to reply has not caused you worries. The reason for this is, and this may sound strange, that I don't want to write untruthfully to you. I've feared I might upset you with my words. However, the truth is better than nothing at all. Wouldn't you agree?
So this is the truth.
London is burning. Smoke plumes rise from the city, like pillars of the earth keeping the sky from crashing down. The all-night bombardments have been unrelenting and each day has been a renewed struggle to hand on to every thread of hope one can find. How can people go on in the face of such remorseless determination? Such senseless killing? I don't know, but I am thankful than they do.
I'm still covered in soot. I can feel the smoke in my lungs. They said women were not supposed to fight in the fires--just manage communications and work in mobile canteen vans and such--but things have changed. An hour ago I was in Canning Town here in East London, the catholic school, do you know it?
The school took a terrible hit during the recent bomb raid and we were there trying to put out the fire. The fire raged as if the very gates of hell had opened up.
I was holding the fire hose together with Susie Tuckfield and I saw children stumbling out of the ruins covered in blood and ashes. I heard tiny voices crying out from inside the burning school. One of my colleagues, Brittany, went in to save a little girl on the second floor, but she never came out. She was such a sweet girl.
During the last month, we have lost three of our fellow fire-fighters. All good friends of mine.
But life goes on, as it must. At night, everyone in the neighborhood goes down to a nearby bunker old William McKinley has turned into a bar.
People come there to reinvigorate themselves with drinking and singing. It's quite strange to see life continuing as if nothing has happened while the bombs are falling around us. That's Londoners for you, isn't it?
Last night, I dreamt of little Johnny again. We were together on the fairground in Brighton, where we used to go during the summer, do you remember? I was kneeling down beside him by the edge of the pier and we looked out at the sea, and you were standing behind me, and it was so blue,
Bobby. So blue, like sparkling sapphire, and calm and no one spoke or worried about the war. I held the palm of my hand against Johnny's cheek. He was eating spun sugar and laughed when a spray of water from the breaking waves hit his face. When I woke up, I could still feel the soft skin of his cheek against my palm, like a phantom sensation. I cried for a long time, Bobby. There's not a day goes by I don't think about him.
When you come home, when all this is over and we are together again--
I want us to move out to the country then, like we've always dreamt we would.
Even if we are poor now, we can make it together somehow. I truly believe that.
I must go now. I can hear the sirens. I'll post this letter on the way out.
Promise to send you more.
I miss you so much, Bobby. Come home to me.

All my love,
Charlotte

This is so horrible. But at least they are together at a better place. She let out more tears.

J looked after her. “Hey girl, do you want to hear my guitar solo?”

Looking for something to cheer herself up, Dinky replied, “Sure why not.

J played that same song he played to B.J. Dinky clapped her hoofs in applause.

“That was fantastic! You are very good!”

“Thanks kid. You’re my first fan. And I appreciate it.” Then Set told her about the Da'at Yichud. It was very interesting for her.

“Set?”

“Yes, little one?”

“I’m trying to figure out what exactly you were doing in this organization of yours? Was it some kind of supernatural engineering?”

“We don’t believe in things supernatural, little one. We believe in God. The Da’at Yichud is, is… it’s a philosophy. It is a way of understanding God through knowledge. It is based on pure reason, pure rational though. Not…supernatural bubkis.”

“So, everything you have created…What were you planning on using all that stuff for?”

“No, you don’t understand, little one. There was never any purpose or intent of use… …beyond the act of creation. We create to commune with God. Do you see that?”

"You’ve lost me.”

Dinky thought for a moment. It was similar when her father explained his origin and the technology he used before he met her mother. Then she got it.

“It’s like mathematical equations.”

“Go on, Go on, little one.”

"And each solved equation brings you closer to God. The act of creation itself is the intended use.”

“Now you get it, little one.”

“The technology my Papa used before he met Mama is very similar of yours. I’m sure you would have a lot to talk about.” She smiled at Set.

She trotted to Klaus room. “Hello Dinky, how are you?”

“Good. Sorry about your Family. You are a good father.” Klaus tried to hold back tears.

“Oh, I didn’t want to make you sad.” Dinky felt guilty.

“It’s alright. It’s just, there's not a day goes by I don't think about my wife and son.”

“How was your wife?”

Klaus smiled. “She was great.” Then he had a flashback.

Congratulations! It’s a boy!” The doctor said. However he turned shocked. “He has a club foot!”

Klaus just fell to his knees. “Please don’t report it to the authorities! I beg you! We tried for years to have a Child! Please!” The doctor agreed.

After a few Days at home, Klaus smiled at his son. “Despite his foot, he is so cute! You’re going to be a wonderful mother.”

“And you’re a good father,” His wife replied.

But suddenly, there was a loud knock on the Door. Two agents of the Gestapo were at the door. “We’re here for your Son,” One agent said.

“No please! He is our only child.” Klaus wife begged. But the other agent stepped in and grabbed the Son.

“I won’t allow you to take him away!” Klaus screamed and rushed at the agent, but the other agent blocked him and struck him with his hand gun and aimed at his head. The wife grabbed it but the agent overpowered her and shot her in the head. Then he shot the son.

“I will spare you since we need you in the war. But weakness and birth defect cannot be tolerated.” The agents leaved.

Klaus couldn’t help but crying over the death of his wife and Son. “I’m so sorry. I wish it hadn’t end like this!” He continued to cry.

Klaus was brought out of his flashback when he felt something warm. Dinky had wrapped her arms around him. “Thank you. Dinky.” He returned the gesture.

”No problem, Klaus! You’re a good father. Stay that way.”

“And you’re a good filly.”

“Maybe check on Max.” Klaus walked with Dinky to Max’s room. They saw him sleeping and a drawing of his toys. “Looks like he lost his Toys. I search them for him.”

Dinky trotted to the hanger bay. She saw the toy robot walking on the ground. “Lost toy. Well, I found you. If I remember correctly, I saw a toy phone in Caroline’s room.”

She found the toy phone. “Neat toy. All I had was a Smarty Pants doll and my drawing set.” She turned around and saw the toy cubes behind the picture. “You belong to Max. I’ll get you home. I think I saw the toy Fire truck in the archive.” She was right with the truck. “Another toy on the run.”

Dinky returned to Max’s room and putted the toys on the Table. She formed the word Max with the cubes. “Good dreams, Max.”

She was so busy with helping, that she didn’t notice that B.J. came back from his Mission. “Welcome back, Blazkowicz.”

“Hello again, Dinky. Sorry, I’m busy right now. But I certainly need some sleep.” He joined Anya in bed.

“Can I sleep with you? You remind me of Nina and Johann.

“Of course Dinky. But there’s something else that is bothers you.”

Dinky took a deep breath. “On my first night at Nina and Johann, I had a Nightmare.”

Dinky turned away with lowered ears but Anya patted her back. “It’s okay sweetheart, you can tell us.” Dinky did the trick B.J. had showed her and told them about her nightmare she had about Deathshead.

“Don’t worry Dinky, we protect you from Deathshead,” B.J. said while Anya wrapped her arm around Dinky.

“Why do you call him Deathshead?”

“Deathshead is the nickname of General Strasse. We gave him that name in the War.”
“Oh, okay.”

Dinky was fast asleep when Anya held her in a protective manner. I will make sure that you won’t suffer the same fate as Fergus. Her nightmare reminded B.J. of the choice he had to make.

But none of them would expect that this nightmare would also come true.

Chapter 13: Under attack

Johann was again on his post. Dinky was everything to him and his wife. If Dinky was hurt or killed by Deathshead, that would kill them too. Johann and Nina loved Dinky more than everything. Kurt had found out how the authorities knew about her.

Since Johann’s parents did also not believe in the Regime, they were watched. The Gestapo arrested them and tortured them until they told where Dinky was and who knew about her. Johann, his wife and Kurt weren’t arrested because Johann’s parents said that they were the only ones who knew that Dinky was a real unicorn.

They also said that they had found Dinky instead of Johann. Nina should only babysit Dinky when they could not look after her. His parents paid with their lives.

Johann went to the bar in the London Nautica to drink something. He thought it would help against his depression. “Johann, is everything alright?” Kurt asked worriedly.

“No. I lost my parents, my neighbors who were good friends and worst of all, Dinky. She is everything for me and Nina. She’s too young to end as test subject and for the suffering.” He buried his Head in his arms on the table.

“Come on buddy, you have to be faith. I’m sure wherever she is, that she is safe and sound. And you have still us.” His comrades were behind him with pitying but confident looks on their faces.

“You’re right. I can’t give up. I HAVE to be faith that she is still alive!” Johann raised his fist into the Air.

“That’s the spirit!”

They were interrupted by a sound of broken glass. They saw how one of their comrades was crushed by the same man that attacked them in the Hanger bay. Instantly, Kurt raised the alarm. “Alarm! I need backup!”

“Sending backup to your position, Commander!”

“Stop right there!” Johann shouted.

To his surprise the man complied. “Don’t shoot; I’m here to give you a message.” He pointed to his radio and then to Johann. At first Johann didn’t trust him but put the radio on.

“Is this thing on?” a female child's voice asked. Johann was surprised and happy to hear Dinky’s voice again.

“Dinky, thank god, you’re alright! I was so worried!” the radio was loud enough that Kurt and his soldiers could hear it too.

“Yes Daddy, I’m safe and sound. Mister Blazkowicz saved me and took care of me.”

Johann wrapped his arms around B.J. “Thank you! I thought already she was dead!”

“No need to thanks, I help people where I can.” The happy moment was interrupted by Wyatt.

“Cap, this is Berlin calling. Try to hurry. The London Monitor is fully operational and…” There was a sound in the background that sounded like someone tried to take down a door. “Oh, God. They’re trying to get through the Door. Caroline! This way! Oh, no, that’s a Deathshead elite unit. Captain, just come back to Berlin as fast as you can! Hurry!” Everyone except for B.J was shocked.

“Hold on, Anya and Dinky. I’m coming home.”

The soldiers knew that they had to let B.J. go. “We won’t stop you,” Kurt said.

“I know how much you care for her. My hideout is under the Monuments of Truth.” B.J. left.

Kurt and his men tried to make a plan. “He can lead us to her.”

“But we will never make it in time, Kurt.”

“Don’t, worry we still have some helicopters left. To the hanger bay!” While they ran as fast as they could, they heard how B.J. took one of the attack helicopters out.

At the hanger bay, they manned the helicopters. But as they took off, the London Monitor was on the scene. “We must help him.”

“Roger that, chopper 2, attack formation.” They attacked the eye to interrupt his attack and then the rocket launchers.

“Launchers are down, the rest depends on Blazkowicz.” They saw from the air how B.J. managed to go under the London Monitor to shoot the engine. After the Monitor collapsed, they saw how B.J. passed out. “We must help him!”

“No need, his friend got him already.”

They saw how Klaus putted him into a car. “Follow the car.”

“Yes, commander!”

For some reason they could hear the radio chatter between B.J. and the HQ.

“Captain. We’re in all sorts of trouble over here. Surprise attack. Couldn’t fight them off. Everyone’s scattered. I’m on the portable radio. They’re inside.”

“Berlin. Come in, Berlin. What’s your status?”

“We’re in bad shape, Captain. Hanging on, but don’t know for how much longer. Deathshead men are everywhere. I think your old friend Frau Engel is leading the attack. Deathshead must have promoted her for her actions at the labor camp. Myself and Caroline. We’re hiding in the helicopter hanger. Trapped in here. Completely surrounded. Too much chaos. Lost track of the others. They’re either dead or they hiding. They’re gonna find all of us. Just a matter of time.”

Dinky shivered in the arms of Anya. Anya patted her mane to calm her down. “Shh, everything is going to be fine.”

“I don’t wanna die,” Dinky sobbed.

Frau Engel removed the picture. She laughed evil. Anya clutched Dinky protectively. But one Soldier snatched her out of her arms. Dinky screamed in fear. Again, she was knocked out.

Johann saw how Dinky was brought away. He also saw Frau Engel. “Land this thing! I will deal with her myself!” He burned in anger.

“Roger that.” Kurt landed his helicopter. Before Frau Engel realized what was going on, she was tackled to the ground by Johann. Her Soldiers tried to help her but where killed by Johann’s comrades.

“YOU MONSTER! TELL ME WHERE SHE IS BEING TRANSPORTED OR THIS WILL YOU’RE LAST BREATH!”

“You think you can intimidate me Sold…” She was cut off when she felt a fist hitting her hard. “Alright, alright, she is being transported to Deathshead compound.”

Johann went off her. She coughed and tried to draw her Handgun. But Kurt kicked it out of her Hand. “You are no mother. You’re a disgrace! Do you know what Deathshead will do to her?! Using her for experiments! She’s too young to suffering like this. You should have brought her back to him.” They leaved and prayed that is was not too late. They heard some kind of rock music before they were gone.

I never thought I would saw him so angry. Bubi was right, Johann and Nina care for her like parents should. She felt suddenly guilty for taking Dinky to Deathshead but felt still anger for Blazkowicz.

Chapter 14: Deathshead

Dinky woke up when she smelled ashes. She tried to move but was cuffed again. She panicked and looked around. The room looked like an incinerator. She had to throw up when she saw the eyeless corpses with torn backs.

This can’t be happening! She thought as Deathshead walked in.

“So long since I’ve practiced my English. It’s a dying tongue.” He looked at Dinky who whimpered in fear and shivered. “I never saw such a species before. I like your eyes.” He looked her into her eyes. “With you I could do great things.”

“P-Please…please Mister Deathshead let me go.” She begged before she realized her mistake.

“You call me Deathshead. I don’t like it. I’m a happy man. You see?” He gave her a smile. “It doesn’t sound right in English. Say it… correctly. Toten…kopf.” He smiled evil.

“Mister Totenkopf p-please… please, I just want to go home. I beg you, don’t hurt me.”

Deathshead just looked cold-blooded at her. “You know, in work like this it is easy to be tempered. To sense compassion. We must learn that this is pointless instinct. Not fit for the master race. I can’t understand how someone can see you as his daughter.” He put a monocle on and took out a scalpel. “You should feel honored to be my newest test subject. You are what I need. Young, unspoiled flesh, tender samples. Fatty tissues intact.”

Dinky was too scared. She tried to look away, but Deathshead had grabbed her Head. Then she felt the largest and most agonizing pain she had felt in her entire life. Dinky let out a painful scream that could be heard in the entire compound.

Chapter 15: Rescue has arrived

The Luftwaffe Soldiers arrived at Deathshead compound. They saw the destroyed outer wall. “Looks like Blazkowicz, is already here.” All helicopters landed.

Once inside, they saw dead Soldiers, Super Soldiers, Fire troopers and Rocket troopers. Even destroyed Guard robots. “How can a man win when he is outnumbered?”

“I don’t know.” Two Soldiers were surprised at this.

“Watch out! Reinforcements!” Another Soldier pointed to a Door. A Super Soldier, a few Soldiers, a Fire Trooper and a Rocket trooper came out.

“Shoot!” Kurt ordered.

The Soldiers were no Problem. One Soldier tried to charge at Kurt but he blocked it and killed him with a whip of his Handgun. Johann was forced to go to cover to prevent getting hit from the Fire trooper. His rifle was out of ammo, so he switched to his Handgun and fired at the air tank of the Fire trooper. He died in the explosion.

His comrades had killed the Rocket trooper but the Super Soldier was problematic as the bullets only bounced off dealing almost no damage. Johann grabbed the Rifle of the Rocket trooper and fired the under-slung rocket launcher at the Super Soldier. A rocket hit the head of the Super Soldier causing him to die and his mask to fall off.

“And I thought only the 1946 version was surgically altered. Johann, open the door!”

“Yes, Sir!” Once the Door was open, a Guard robot stepped out and knocked Johann over. The robot tried to stomp him, but Johann rolled away and fired at the eye.

When the robot was blind, the other Soldiers fired at his weak point on the back. Johann was pulled away by Kurt to prevent getting hurt by the explosion.

“Thanks, I owe you one.”

"You owe me nothing. Come on, move it! Dinky must be scared to death.”

They reached the cells. Since they were close to the experimental labs, Kurt decided to search here first.

They met the Resistance fighters. They aimed their weapons at each other. Kurt stepped with Johann in front them. “We’re not here to stop you. We are looking for Dinky.”

“You’re must be Johann, right?” Anya asked. He nodded but turned around when he heard someone coming.

Blazkowicz came around the corner only to collapse in Anya’s arms. “William! What happened to you?” She gasped. “You’re bleeding!”

“After Set got us of the cells, we thought we would, escaping all on our own. Good to see you Blazkowicz. You’re a good man.” Bombate was also glad to see him.

“Let’s get out of here!” Set said.

“Wait! Do you hear that?” Johann interrupted when he heard crying. It was identical to the crying he heard when he found Dinky.

Set pointed to a cell. “It’s coming from there. Mhm, high security lock but for an Engineer of the Da'at Yichud is this no problem.” B.J. helped him to open the Door.

What they saw broke their hearts. It was Dinky crying her heart out. She was restrained the same way as the prisoners in Eisenwald. But she looked different. She was completely wrapped in steel. She looked like a Kampfhund from 1946. Tears came out of the tiny eyeholes.

“Another kid you murdered, General. You counting? One of us is gonna die today. Too many times, General. What’s the count?” Blazkowicz burned in anger as those words came back into his mind. He cut the chain with his LaserKraftWerk. He’s seen suffering and death, people maimed and tortured. He thought he’d seen it all, but never seen such cruelty to a child. Until now.

Dinky fell on the ground. “Dinky? Is that you?” Johann asked as he was afraid, that this was not the Dinky he knew.

She looked him into the eyes. “D-daddy? I can’t feel my legs, my hoofs and can’t barely see and hear.” Her voice was shaken.

“Yes sweetie, it’s me.”
Dinky jumped towards him and slammed right into his stomach, nearly causing him to lose his balance. Her hooves wrapped around his abdomen as she cried into his chest.

“It was so horrible! I felt the largest and most agonizing pain in my life! I begged him to spare me, but he just…” She buried her head into his chest.

“Shh, I promise I will bring you out of this terrible place. And that we will find a way to make you to the cute filly you once were.” Johann’s mind was burning in anger. Deathshead will pay for what he did to Dinky. He will definitely pay!

“This elevator has seen better Days. Let’s prey it still works.” Johann carried the still crying filly into the elevator. The elevator was shaking and stopped abrupt.

“Blazkowicz, help me up.” He helped Bombate and the others, but before they could help Dinky or Johann up the elevator started to move again.

“We’ll get you out of here. We’ll go somewhere. I believe there still places on this earth where people can go. And live happy.”

“I believe so too. But not for me and you.”

The elevator shot up. B.J prepared his Weapon while Johann promised Dinky to get her out of here. “What are you doing in here? An old friend come to visit? I haven’t had a visitor like you in a long time.”

Before the Doors opened Johann spoke up,
“Blazkowicz, do me a favor. Make him suffer for what he has done to her.”

“Don’t worry, I will.”

The elevator doors opened. B.J. fired and so did Johann. “Yes. I know you. We have met before. I think today we meet… for the last time.” Deathshead ignored Johann completely. “Captain Blazkowicz! Still fighting, after all these years.” He held a glass with a brain in it in his hands. “I remember… …your friend. I savor his memory. Do you remember him?”

After a brief pause he putted the glass in a robot. He came to life. “People like you. All you peddle… is death and destruction. I would ask you to consider: in the end we will be… …judged. Not by what we have destroyed… …but what we have created.”

Fergus.

“Can you grasp the splendor of it? The intelligence of the human brain … …amalgamated… …with the efficiency… …and obedience of the machine.”

The robot stepped out. “Machine man. Clear the room.” Johann opened the door and was holding Dinky with one arm while shooting at the robot with his rifle in the other. The robot beat him and B.J. Johann flew against a wall, knocked out.

His vision returned when he felt someone calling his name and dragged him. “Johann, wake up!” Dinky screamed. But it was too late as the robot approached her.

Before he could do anything, a Tesla grenade exploded, disabling him.
B.J. spoke to the robot, “Fergus? You in there?” Dinky winced as she heard a robotic voice.

“Blazkowicz. A nightmare this. Trapped in this damned machine. Got no control of my actions. End this. Please. Let me die”

“I’ll see you soon, Fergus. In a better place than this.” B.J. destroyed his brain.

“A good friend of yours?” Johann asked.

“Yes. And he deserved a better fate than this.” Johann lifted Dinky up and walked to the Door. But it was locked.

“What now?”

“Let me help.” B.J. cut a hole in the fence for them. Johann crawled through, then Dinky.

Deathshead started his Mechanical Powered Armor. “You’re perplex me, Captain. But, you do not scare me.” He charged this shield. “Ah! Like Prometheus I steal fire from the gods. The hammer of Thor is my shield. Beautiful!"

Johann noticed that the zeppelins had two electrical prongs extending off the top towards the roof of the building. They also had cables running out of the bottom. They must be the power source for Deathshead’s shield. He got Dinky to cover and shot with the 88mm Flak cannon at the Zeppelin. He saw how Blazkowicz did the same with the other.

Deathshead tried to recharge his shield. Johann saw that is was about explode.

He clutched Dinky protectively. The explosion blended both. Johann lost his balance and fell off the platform. The impact was painful. Dinky was unharmed thanks to him but both were knocked out.

A spotlight spotted them. “There they are!” Kurt landed the helicopter. He stepped out. “You two, get the debris off them.” Two Soldiers tried to get them off but without success. Yet they kept trying.

A white light blended Kurt. A white Alicorn accompanied by two Pegasus ponies in golden Armor stood in front of him. Behind them were a grey Pegasus mare, a brown stallion and a magenta unicorn.

“Greeting fellow earthling, I am Princess Celestia and I have come to retrieve one of my lost subjects.”

“I know. I’m Commander Kurt Wolf. Your subject was been in care of one of my men. Private Johann Bauer. But we all protected her from everyone that wanted to harm her.” At first, all ponies couldn’t believe what they heard but could tell by Kurt’s expression that he was honest.

Derpy asked worried, “Please Sir, is my little Muffin alright?”

Derpy heard the grunts of the Soldiers that tried to get the debris off Dinky. “They are too heavy for us! We need help!”

Celestia used her magic to lift the debris off Dinky and Johann. “Muffin!” Derpy hugged her daughter. “What have they done to you? Did the cyberponies get you?” She saw how her daughter was altered.

“It’s a long story.” Time Turner used his trusty sonic screwdriver to check her. Only a few, the princesses included, knew that he was a time lord.

“Good news, my dear Ditzy. What ever happened to her, it can be reversed. And we have a pulse. But her Vital signs are critical. We must bring both to the hospital or they will die!”

“Hold on, I will teleport them to the hospital.”

Before Celestia used her spell, they heard Johann weakly saying, “My wife… Dinky… they need me.”

“Please my little muffin, hold on. Don’t die.”

Chapter 16: Home Sweet home

Johann woke up when he heard the sobbing of his wife and the sound of an ECG. He slowly opened his eyes He was in a hospital and was wearing a medical robe.

“N- Nina?” He was still weak.

“Johann, you’re awake! I was worried that you would die!” His wife was happy to see him awake. Johann had however other thoughts.

“Where’s Dinky? Is she safe?”

“Don’t worry, she’s safe.” Princess Celestia and Luna walked in.

“You are Princess Celestia and Luna, right?”

“Yes. You don’t need to salute. And we are really grateful that you took care of our subjects. Her Family is grateful too.”

“How did you found her?”

“As Dinky told you, we are in control of the Sun and Moon. And as princess of the moon, I can hear the dreams of our ponies. I heard her nightmares which leaded us to her,” Princess Luna explained.

“Then, why're you helped me?”

“When I saw how you clutched Dinky protectively when we found you, I knew how much you cared for her. That’s why I gave you a second chance. A life without being watched all the time. What do you say?”

“I accept, your Highness. I have lost anyway almost everything I had. And I’m an enemy of my country. But tell me, can the damage Deathshead did to her be reserved? Or is she doomed to life as a cyborg?”

“At the moment, she is in the OP. It’s a difficult operation with the chemicals in her blood, but our best doctors are operating her. I have no doubt that they will succeed. Her Family wants to see you.”

Celestia looked at a guard who saluted and opened the Door for Dinky’s Family.

“You’re the humans who took care of her?” Derpy asked. Johann nodded.

“You must be Derpy, Dinky’s mother.”

“That’s right. This is my husband Time Turner, and my daughter Amethyst Star. We all saw what Dinky had experienced thanks to Princess Lunas ability to go into memories.
Since you had almost lost everything, we wanted to offer you to live with us and make you and your wife a part of our Family.”

“We both accept. I’m sure that Dinky will like it when she hears it.”

A Doctor walked in. “Mrs. Hooves? I’m here to tell you that the operation was a success. But she’s very exhausted and needs to stay for a few days in the hospital. If you want, you can see her.”

“Yes please. Do you want to come too Mr. and Mrs. Bauer?”

“But of course. And Johann and Nina, is just fine.” Nina helped her husband out of the bed.

“Follow me.” They all followed the doctor.

Derpy let out tears of joy. Her daughter was sleeping but was no longer wrapped in steel. “My little Muffin. I had almost lost you,” Derpy whispered in her ear.

“M-Mama?” She blinked her eyes open.

“Yes sweetie, it’s me.”

“MAMA!” Dinky wrapped her fore hoofs around her. “I thought I would never see you again! I thought my life was over when…”

“Don’t say it Dinky. We already know what happened to you.”

“PAPA! SPARKLER!”

Nina and Johann watched everything from the floor. They were also happy that Dinky was reunited with her Family.

“Johann saved me from the bad guys.”

“I know, Muffin. And since they can’t go back, we decided to make them a part of our Family. What do you think?”

“Yes Mama, I would like it. But where are they?” She looked around until they stepped in.

“Johann! Nina!” She hugged both.

“Yes sweetie, we’re also here. And we will like it to be a part of your Family.” Nina said but Johann had doubts.

“Wait a minute. Wouldn’t the Residents of Ponyville freak out when they would saw us?”

“Only a few pony’s know that there were Humans on Equestria. It was long ago. But don’t worry; I’m sure that they will accept you. Also Dinky, your friends want to see you.” Anja and Karl walked in with bright smiles.

“Dinky! We’re so glad that you are alright!”

“Karl! Anja! I’m so sorry that I brought you into this.” Dinky lowered her ears but Karl and Anja hugged her. Celestia smiled at the cute sight.

“It wasn’t your fault. Princess Celestia saved us. The resistance fighters stayed behind to destroy Deathshead’s base. They will also never forget you or them.” Karl smiled at her. The CMC also came in and talked with Dinky.

“Oh before I forget, your comrades are waiting outside.” Luna gestured to the floor.

Johann went outside. Kurt was greeting him with a warm smile. “Johann you’re alive! I thought already I would see you with the walking dead.”

“Are you also staying here?”

“Yes buddy. I think I will like this life more than my previous life. What about you Hans? Hans?”

Hans wasn’t listening. He had only eyes for a white coated mare with light pink mane and tail. She had a red cross on her flank. “Looks like somebody has found his marefriend.”

Johann also smiled. He could begin a new life. In peace, without killing.

Celestia joined them and spoke to the Soldiers, “Welcome to Equestria.”

Epilogue

One Year later

Johann lived a happy life with his wife. Nina was a good friend of Rarity the top designer of Ponyville. Together, they created clothes that Rarity couldn’t imagine in her Dreams. Hans was in love with the Nurse of the Ponyville General Hospital, Nurse Redheart. They married after a few Dates. Kurt and his men were part of the Wonderbolts. With their planes and helicopters, they could show tricks and stunts that impressed even the Wonderbolts themselves. Karl and Anja were in the same class with Dinky. They were also members of the CMC and good friends of the other members. Franz and Eva had also a good life. Eva represented Cheerilee when she was sick. Franz was a good business partner of Filthy Rich.

Johann was cleaning the house with Nina while Derpy and Time turner were at work. “Daddy, Mommy, I’m home!” Dinky called out.

“Welcome home Dinky, how was school?” Johann smiled.

“Great! We learned about the humans that lived in Equestria long ago. They lived with the ponies in harmony. But when Discord came, they vanished. Nopony knows until this day why.”

“Interesting. I made you some gingerbread Dinky since you liked it so much.”
Dinky let out a happy giggle and ate the gingerbread.

Johann smiled at her. Even if it was a year ago; he wasn’t able to find out what happened to Blazkowicz and Deathshead. But Johann was sure that Blazkowicz gave Deathshead what he deserved.

In the evening Nina and Johann went to bed. But Dinky entered the room. “What is it, Dinky?”

“I wanted to ask if I could sleep with you. Had a bad dream about being still Deathshead test subject. It was a year ago and still I have problems to come over it.”

“Of course sweetie, come in.” Nina helped her into the bed. Normally, Dinky came to her sister or parents when she had a nightmare or a bad dream. However, when she dreamed about Deathshead, she always came to Johann and Nina.

Johann and Nina still enjoyed every minute with her. They loved being together with Dinky and they always knew they would.
