This story is a sequel to Children of Chaos
Twilight Sparkle and Amethyst Shadow visit the Starswirl the Bearded Wing of the Canterlot Royal Archives, where the dark purple unicorn casts a time-travel spell, landing her several years into the past. She travels to Ponyville to rebuild the friendships she left behind, interacting with the ponies as they "relive" events that have already taken place in her original timeline as she tries to find a way back to the future. Eventually she is reunited with her son and daughter, but in a most unusual way. Taken to a future timeline, she soon discovers the future is not for her and she is returned to the previous timeline. She then decides to make a new life for herself in that previous timeline. Fate has certain plans in store for her, though ...

So, each chapter will be an episode from the show and Amethist "screwing" with the timeline, which in the future returns to normal, until she finds the spell to return home?
That's kind of what I had planned on, though there will be some extra surprises thrown in.
What happened to the 3 last chapters? Did you decide to rewrite them?
2690435 I went through the story and condensed a few chapters into larger chunks, deleting the extras. I am disappointed that this story hasn't gotten better ratings, as I consider this to be one of my better stories.

I wish GTA 3 wasn't the first game they were introduced but then again it is your preference to what to subject the characters in this story to. I would have probably gone for COD 3 (only COD I like at all) or maybe Need for Speed hot pursuit.

Celestia was trotting through the archives to get some casual reading done... Until she noticed a book on the floor...
Curiosity will get the better of any pony even after ruining the future of a certain couple.
Picking up the aura, she noticed the book was turned to single page...
She threw the book in anger and her breathing became nearly unstable.
"Ammythyst!" She bellowed with primal rage combined with the royal canterlot voice.
The pony who read that page abandoned her daughter and everything to live for, she let others suffer because she was a coward... Yes... A coward, and Celestia was NOT going to let her get away with this...

The point that she is indeed a coward harks back to the original story, "Free to Good Home," where she was ultimately more scared to die than do the right thing, instead choosing to do what she felt necessary in order to survive. As for the grown Galaxy and her lover, they'll be fine -- Amethyst has returned to her original timeline to continue raising her 3 1/2 year old filly and almost 8 year old colt and be better to them this time around. Celestia was the one who replaced the missing book in the Archive so Amethyst could find it...

nice but there seems to be a possibility for an alternate ending in which amethyst returned to her original timeline but did little to interfere with her children while they were growing up but they both knew that she was always watching over them
but that is my personal opinion it is your choice if you want an alternate ending or not
Was a nice and relaxing ending to a somewhat (from my viewpoint) emotional ride with Ammy and Galaxy.
This is setting up for another story isn't it?
