Not bad, though it does need to be proofread. So why were the imperial guard fighting in space? I thought that only space marines fought in space while the Guardsmen fought most of the ground battles with help from the Marines. IDK, I'm not the most well read on WH40K lore. Also, it would be cool to get the pony's PoV for the crash and door opening. We got a taste of it, but it was like "what is that thing? Nobody knows, but we already organized every unicorn available to help lower it to the ground. And that other one can just fall in the desert." Hmmm... would not the chaos ship have burnt up in the atmosphere? or been effected by the "transfer to Equestria burn all the daemons" thingy? Eh, still a cool crossover.

They are Imperial navy with detachments of the guard on board to defend the ship in case of boarding, whatever good a bunch of guardsmen is against chaos marines and/or tyranid boarding partys.
And the chaos ship didn't completely burn up because it was a battle barge, those things can survive a frontal collision with a bigger craft and still fly to destroy whats left.
2395429 Cool. I had kinda wondered. Those Battle Barges must be absolutely massive. Scary to think of that in the hands of the Chaos, within easy reach of the ponies. Even grounded, those things have to have some kind of cannon that can act as stationary long range artillery.

Battle Barges are designed to get in close and deliver the Space marines or to supply orbital fire support thus they are heavily armored and shielded and have mostly short range gun batteries to hold of torpedos and fighter craft and those gun batteries aren't as sturdy as the superstructure of the ship. And the weapons used for orbital fire support are static hull mounted lances or torpedo tubes which are useless if the ship is lying around as a wreck in a desert.
If they can salvage some of the torpedo warheads on the other hand they could handily wipe out Canterlot or other big cities with one or at most two of them.

Though you say short range, what are we talking here? A few hundred meters, or the several Kilometers that counts as "short range" in orbit? Would it be possible for either the Chaos or the Guard to take any surviving cannon from the ship and mount them on a surviving vehicle? Though I suppose the guard wouldn't want to do that, the whole "tech religion" thing. Thanks for answering my questions btw.

we could just go with that none of the cannons survived the warp rupture and following crash to the planet and even if one did, there is a reason those things are only mounted on space ships and they wouldn't have the hardware and know how to do it anyways.
"Short Range" in Warhammer space battles is never really defined as far as i know and i'm not in a position to accurately guess but it would be at least in the upper double digit kilometer range or even higher.

I was doing a bit of research on the Oberon, and it said that most of the time they arent used anymore for things other than patrol duties, is this during a time that they were in use still or this one just get caught in the fray?

The sites that I got my info for the Oberon didn't say anything about them being only used for patrol duties. So im just going with that The Righteous Vengeance was in the area, so the Departmento Munitorium sent the ship as re-enforcement.

Bad News everyone
Chapter 3 wont be coming out for a week or two. Kind of broke the laptop by burning out the hard-drive now I am spending the next few days downloading and installing around 150GB of stuff back onto it.

Im honestly wondering how the Equestrians could fight against Chaos, the only answer i came up with is unicorns because as said in an earlier chapter something on equestria lets them use warp sorcery while at the same time completely surpressing the chaotic energys, that normally come hand in hand with using said sorcery, on a near planetary scale.
The Guardsmen's chances against even fragments of a chaos marine warband are frighteningly low without the proper hardware and those guys have at most a bunch of heavy weapons and can count themself lucky if some of the surviving guardsmen can operate them.
Really good, a few missing words and errors here and there but all good

lol tyranids arrive, they better hope the nids land in some desolate region without notable biomass because if they dom't they will replace their numbers faster then everyone else would notice them and after that simply drown them in bodies
Oh and just a thought that came to mind the IG guys are actually the most fucked of all here (even moreso then the ponies). The Ig relies on numbers or armored support to win their battles now they could maybe hold a fortified position against the nids for a while.
if i had to bet on the outcome and this story didn't feature the "good guys" as protagonists i would say the nids curbstomp everything a few weeks after they made planetfall and discovered a jungle or large forest.

but what about the tau they have the worst melee in the warhammer universe and most of the nid's have claws and that they can really adapt to the tau's plasma weapons. so in conclusion both are fucked equally if they don't kill them fast enough.
