A would be scientist who lurks in the shadows of The Land of Enchantment, too accustomed to desert life to withstand AC.

Sombra speaks his mind to Twilight about the 'truth' of Equestria. It is monologue to her as the audience so there are no rebuttals. Also no explanation into the context of how this scenario arose as it would prove irrelevant. You have been warned.

:moustache: Brilliant. True contrast to Celestia's logic. And how did you make me think Sombra was the good guy?

Am I Evil? - Diamond Head

It is entirely a matter of perspective. There are many different perspectives, but still: Naught but a matter of perspective.

Huh, that bit about Sombra being outside of Equestrian jurisdiction is a really good point. Never noticed that before. Clearly, Celestia just wanted the power of the crystals for herself.

In fact, according to the Crystal Heart Spell, Cadance was never the 'Crystal Princess'. She was a Pegasus born and raised in Equestria, who turned Alicorn for similar reasons to Twilight (doing what had never been done before. Speaking of, don't researchers do that all the time? Heck, University students do it all the time to graduate from their courses). So in other words, from the beginning, Celestia was planning on having an Equestrian rule the Crystal Empire.

Well to put it simply, Celestia is a force of order and the logical extreme of that is a totalitarian state where she or her chosen control everything.

Think about it. There is no nature in Equestria. Ponies control when the leaves fall, if birds have nests, when they wake from hibernation. Everything.

Some of your sentences seem to run on a bit too long. You might want to go over it again and see where commas or semicolons could pace it a bit better.

Interesting take on things, though Im not sure if it ever was clear that the changelings could have fed without harming or mindcontrolling the equestrians.

The basic idea is worth expanding on though. Maybe add some twilight bits to give this some the full "temptation and logic of the dark " feel?

The deeper one dives into individual philosophies, the harder it is to tell right and wrong...If it ever existed in the first place.

Emh... so.... the reason....

Great one shot. Perfect example of there always being two truths to any story.
