This is the story of how Spike got his wings, and became Sweetie Belle's brother-in-law. :) The story is enveloped within another tale of Spike's great-grandson, Uvarovite, and his special somepony, Dusty Amber, coming for a visit, many years later.

Yay this is on FIM now! :yay::yay:
Love it

That title is amazing. Evocative of both warmth and sweetness, with a good synopsis to boot. I'll be reading this when I get some time, but I do have one word of advice: delete that content warning. Never apologize for something you're proud of. Wait for the prudes to complain, then proceed to ignore them. :rainbowdetermined2:

Read this on DA a while ago, but still good.

....That was one of the single best fics I've ever read.

I love this story, but i didn't think ghostly possession sex could be possible or actually happen.

This seriously needs to be in the feature box.

I just experienced an instant diabetic reaction

Spectacularly written. Would love to see morestories written just as good as this

Dude...that pic!
It makes me think of dracula!

Hmm. I have never been a fan of the Rarity/Spike relationship. Different species and him having a childish crush, and all. But you put some time there and opened things up so much. This is a beautiful fic.
I have no specific critique - I was too engrossed in the story to take note - but there were errors littered throughout. Proofreaders are always a good idea. Especially when one's writing is as good as yours and gets to be featured, too.

How many years are there between Spike and Rarity first meeting and the first of the flashbacks?

Dat last bit... So Rarity is... A long-lived now? Still um wot?

2192346 She's a ghost at the end. :)

Read this on DA. Still quite lovely. :raritywink:

Ghost sex? :rainbowhuh: ...:rainbowlaugh: It's not that off putting, if you read the sheer amount of weird manga, I've read. :pinkiecrazy:

I half expected Rarity's ghost form to say, :raritywink: "Spikey Wikey, you will go to the Dagobah system."

I can see why Rarity just didn't pop in, in front of Dusty and Uvy; Yeah, seeing the very "active" ghost of your fiance's long dead ancestor, would make anyone crap themselves in fear and add the fact that Uvy's great, great, grand dad is a Spectrophiliac. Just what kind of family is Dusty joining, This scenario would make Jerry Springer blow his brains out.

That being said good fic and for a 13,000+ word fic, I didn't feel its length and the syntax and writing was very well done.

2191103 Point taken.

Masterfully done my friend, just masterfully done. The swing of emotions the from excitement, to pain, sorrow, anger to acceptance , connection and Overwhelming love. I will have to draw a Spike Rarity pic now just because of this heart warming story. Please keep writing and never stop ^^ /) *brohoof*

Not sure if like... Closer to mature IMO, but it's good writing... Not sure if :twilightblush: leads to wings...

The exposition near the end was like an excuse for a clopfic, but before that was good.

A really well written story, a couples errors here and there but nothing unforgivable,in the other hand, your way of describing the different emotions which Spike went through is incredibly good, not overdone for your readers who could relate to the character, but precise enough to share those feeling for people unfamiliar with them.
Finally a part of me think that a few lines of this story were a bit too risqué... But at the same time, it doesn't deserve to be classified as "mature"...
So... An excellent read, here, have a thumbs up, a fave and an internet biscuit. You can be proud of your work.

To be honest this with you I was like "am not gonna read this", and here I am because a second opinion in my head request it badly.

I personally don't like that Spike was with three of the EoH, and seemingly while the others were alive as well. But this story is still nice.

not that I'm saying you need to write a sequel, but I would like to see more like this, and maybe some of the unique parts of the Equestria you've built here.

good, except the part with Spike baring children with Spike and Rainbow Dash. It felt a bit too out of place and out of character, and would make more sense with Spike just baring Foals for Rarity.

Dislikes: Spike sleeping around with Twilight/Rainbow Dash, when clearly he already lawfully wedded Rarity.
Likes:Everything else (dialogue between Spike and Rarity at the boutique was emotional and powerful)
6/5

:fluttercry: butiful man nice toches and dude never stop writing:twilightsmile:

Wow... incredible job. The vocabulary, sentence structure, and overall story made this perfect. This is a perfect 10 :D

This story. So much feels right now, not even funny... You sir, have just made my evening a heck of alot more emotional, in the good way  Pacing was amazing for a 13k word story, never feeling rushed or skimmed out at parts (all excpect for the sex scenes but was probably ment too to keep this fic teen) while still delivering on a good plot. Characterization was also fabulously done well, keeping most of the charcters in tack with themselves, and having some well rounded OCs that served as a valuable part of the story. Aside from some minor errors here and there, this is a fantastic story. Can't wait to see more from you :twilightsheepish:

We need an older teen rating for stuff like this, just cause this is pushing the teen rating.

I am jealous of your ability to write dialogue for Rarity. Perhaps you were just in a good funk, but I couldn't help but smile at some parts. What an interesting way to portray the element of generosity!

I do absolutely love retrospective one-shots like these. I appreciate your ability to bring Spike and Rarity so close in just a scene or two. Surely not as fluid or in-depth as it could be with chapters and chapters, but still compelling nonetheless.

Great job. Congratulations on getting featured.

Glad to see this piece here at last.

Interesting take on the subject (and mercifully, one that doesn't end with Spike alone in a cave and miserable, which is always good!) Ghost-Rarity was a nice surprise; it just greatly surprises me that given the oft-valunted Power of Love and all that (especially in a land where friendship is literally a magical force) that it's the first time I think I've seen anything like that done. Bonus points for novelty and Sensible Use of Undead.

The Dash/Twilight wife thing seemed to come a bit out of thin air. Not sure it really added anything narratively, save as an excuse why half of Equestria now has dragon blood (or as Spike Gets All The Mares), especially since Ghost Rarity obviated the need for Spike to look for additional company. On the other hand/hoof/claw, equines *do* have harem behavior, so it was more that it seemed a bit unannounced than out-of-place; and *anything* is better than the tragedy of sociable, garrulous Spike being alone and miserable after out-living every pony.

('Course were now getting that trope with Twilight now, too...!)

Good job.

2197029 I don't want to give too much away, but the mention of Spike's relationships with other mares was kind of set up for other possible stories. A friend and I were remarking on how scarce stallions seem to be in MLP:FiM and we decided to take that oversight of the show's and run with it. What if this society really DOES have a lot more mares than stallions, and it's perfectly normal for mares who are friends to arrange themselves into harems around a male they like? This is, after all, kind of what horses actually do. I admit, it's not for everyone, but we thought it might be worth exploring. He's working on a story about a war in Equestria's future and he's written a scene between Rarity and Rainbow Dash where they're obviously fond of each other and seem almost married to each other themselves, and Rarity refers to a gift to Rainbow Dash from "our husband" (Spike). It's unusual for our society, but I found it really heartwarming. I keep bugging him to finish the story. :rainbowkiss:

Xenophilia tackles these and other equine society questions, along with being a beautiful, romantic story.

Fair enough, if you're laying the ground work for other stories! I don't have a problem with idea of pony harems myself, as you say, given their real-world behavior (not seen them used very often, though; interesting in this fandom, where there's sort of a rational for having it; since in the Naruto and Harry Potter fanfic annuls, it was quite common!); ironically, I was the one on the main pony forum I frequent to first bring it up (after reading up on real-world equine behavior out of interest).

(Equine sleeping habits also make for an interesting read - horses sleep comparitively little and often and are active throughout the day and night. Which, given as our little ponies are diurnal, mostly, perhaps gives Luna's isolation another tragic reason; as pony civilisation got more advanced, they spent more time in te day when they needed to see things (industry, farming and such, taks which require light) and slowly the formerly equal time spent in day and night societally skewed towards day... It also might explain why Spike needs more sleep; actually, perhaps he *doesn't* by human standards; perhaps it's not because he's baby dragon so much as he's just not a pony...!)

Whoo!! Nice fic there. Really liked the pictures by the way. :moustache::raritywink:

Really great fic. Just the way it was written and some of the dialog was just priceless.
You get a fav!

2197061

I really like the concept of a "herd." It makes sense in a society with such a wide gender imbalance.

This was so awesome. The dialogue was great, the scene transitions were smooth, and I don't believe I've ever read a sex scene quite that beautiful.

its nice to come across yet another fic where Rarity doesnt just string Spike along and use the little guy for all he's worth with nothing really in return except a few jems and being in her presence like the show has the relationship and most stories. granted Spike is not my favorite char but it's still nice to see him get his effection returned and not just used

Words cannot describe, they should have sent a poet.

Very tastefully executed, and i must say that if future stories stemming from this are in order, i will be reading all of them.

Thank you for the wonderfully spun yarn.

Not gonna' lie, I clicked on this expecting mindless smut - however, I got anything but. Congratulations, my fellow, you've done quite well. Oh, but I can hardly bring myself to say that is one of the finest one-shots I've read to this day. So again, kudos, a favorite for you - and you can be sure I'll be watching what you do.

I definitely liked this story for it was very descriptive and creative with a story most people would love, but In my opinion and it seems a few others before me didn't like the fact that Spike had also gotten Rainbow Dash and Twilight, even though he was married to Rarity.

As well how do you suppose Spike introduces Rarity as a ghost I mean can everypony see her or is it just Spike because it seems that their souls are connected.

2211958 Anything's possible since we're just making all this up, but I'm of the opinion that it's pretty much up to Rarity to determine if she's visible or not. But I think if she's "on", everyone can see her, and if she's "off", even Spike can't.

You know, that ghost of Rarity at the end was really jarring. I mean, it's not bad or anything, just kind of out of nowhere. (If this being likely or even possible was hinted at in the story, it flew over my head.) I mean she just kind of shows up, has some banter with Spike, and they have Asari-mind-meld-brain-sex.

That was really quite excellent. Great story.

Excellent story, sir. That must've taken a lot of time and effort, and I will say I laughed, cried, and smiled a great many times. What a lovely tale. You should be proud of yourself for this.

So heartwarming... :raritycry:

Hmm... *sees Sex tag*
Oh, it's one of those fics again...
*reads the fic anyway*
Holy Celestia on a bucket, that was... heartwarmingly awesome... with a hint of creepy.
I mean, I am fine, chuffed even, with the Sparity on here. The ultimate wingboner.
Then it sort became harem-ish and that was... meh.
Then it rebounded to ensure Sparity and I was chuffed once again.
