It's a little idea which just came to me today, I'm not sure if it's been done... Probably has... But it might be quite interesting!

Spike you are SOO toast.
Spike is in no way the same age as the CMC. Twilight hatched Spike when she was younger than them. If Twilight was say five when she started school, and their six, for Spike to be six, Twilight would be eleven. Spike is probably closer to twice their age than the same age.

That partly depends on how old Twilight is now. I've always considered her to be about seventeen, and for the CMC to be about 10, so I thought Spike was kind of around the same age. It's really not easy to tell what ages any of them are, as far as I know the only thing which has been revealed about the pony ages was that Fluttershy is a year older than Pinkie Pie... So I'm not sure, but you could be right about that.

Based on the Cutie Mark Chronicles, the fact most kids start Kindergarten, and Magic Kindergarten, at 4-5 as Twilight is defiantly advanced I tend to assume four, they do have entrance exams into advanced schools at Kindergarten age. I tend to think the CM are 6-9, Twilight around 17-19 and Spike 13-15. The whole greed growth happens, "Because he is growing up," so dragon puberty, and people think the human version is awkward.

Okay, well you're probably right there actually. But still, I doubt everything in a world of ponies works exactly the same, so there's probably some space for our own creativity.
