First time I've seen Dashie being viewed as a bad name by a character.

Interesting, I don't recall any other fanfiction exploring the relationship between Scootaloo and Pinkie Pie.

I hope they will become good friends after some trouble (would be boring without trouble), also the idea that someone really doesn't like Pinkie Pie could be really interesting, I wonder if Pinkie ever encountered somepony that didn't like her.

Also, re: "Dashie" ... I just always figured that Scootaloo might bristle at the nickname as the "-y" and "-ie" are diminutives associated with childhood and such. (Which is why little "Tommy" will often start going by "Thomas" upon reaching adolescence or adulthood.) Since Scootaloo's at the prime age for bucking against nicknames associated with childhood, plus she's overprotective of Dash's "coolness," I always had it in my head that surely she hates that Pinkie calls her hero "Dashie." *shrug*

Went through the entire thing thinking Scootaloo was the mysterious filly, what a twist!

I guess Pinkie's senses were tingling. How else did she new that Scootaloo was a hungry orphan? And offered her sweets on the house? Just a haunch. Great chapter and great story! Can't wait to find out what happens next.

Ok, that clears up my question from the previous chapter. It's nice to see a nice back-story for my little Pinkie Pie. And I also love stories, especially when she's an orphan. While some people don't like that I find that it makes a very interesting plot-base. Keep it up!

I don't know how to express how this story makes me feel. I was starting to get the impression that Pinkie had been homeless herself, which is why she could tell what Scootaloo was going through and was so willing to help her, but I never expected that revelation. With all the kindness she's received from Applejack and the Cakes, not to mention her other friends, it's no wonder that she wants to pass that happiness on to Scootaloo. This story is amazing and it makes me cry, and I eagerly await the next instalment.

I really love this story If I have one critique, it would be that the flashback to Pinkie and Applejack's past is kinda hard to see. Suddenly we're just there, no indication of when we switch. Sure I'm able to pick it up when I keep reading, but then I have to go back and read it again to fully understand. Nevertheless, keep writing this and I will keep reading

I really love the way you're portraying the parallels between Pinkie's life and Scootaloo's. The mistrust of adults is heart-wrenching, especially when it's of such trustworthy ponies as Applejack or Granny Smith. The way that they're all trying to help Scootaloo is so sweet.

My only critique is that theres no sense of time, How long was the span between this chapter and the last? A week? A month? I would like clarification or closer chapters (only days apart?)

Another great chapter. I love how you slowly take time to explain Pinkie's past, and only now reveal that everypony knows about Scoot, Pinkie hasn't been keeping her knowledge a secret. However, especially AJ listen to her about how to deal with Scoot, because she knows Pinkie has been through it all herself. And that probably means the rest of the gang knows as well (besides Twilight obviously), and thusly listens to her advice. That could have been a plothole, but the way you handled it it really works out.

I'm loving this fic more and more with each chapter. I fear we won't see this becoming a 20+ chapter epic though.... Maybe 2, or 3 more chapters if I'm guessing.

I love this story - it's awesome enough that I registered entirely to tell you how awesome it is. The parallel between Pinkie and Scootaloo is genuinely moving and extremely well done without feeling forced, and i'm impressed by the way that you managed to keep Pinkie Pie in character and feeling like herself ever as a scared little filly. The story is very good and in my opinion the characterisation is perfect. Well done.

But one thing ... I understand this is as much Pinkies story as it is Scoots story, but I feel like the flashbacks to Pinkies past have served their purpose and I kind of hope you focus more on Pinkies/Scoots relationship, because personally I find that a lot more interesting now.

It's your story of course and as long as you keep that quality and don't completly derail the story I will enjoy it

Relatedly, there almost wasn't a Scootaloo story--I'd briefly considered making the entire story nothing but the filly Pinkie stuff, as when I first started writing, those were the sections I enjoyed writing most. But as the story's gone on, I've started enjoying writing the Pinkie/Scootaloo bits more.

Wow, this is one of those fics that hits the top-end of quality on Fimfiction, and I must say; this is better then then ending I had come up with. Specifically the fact that Scootaloo ends up with Lyra and Bon-Bon, Pinkie is kinda sad, Scootaloo still wanting to hang out, and the promise from the beginning being brought up again. Top-notch stuff, if you haven't you might want to submit this to EQD.

I am so sad that this is over. I was expecting for the cakes to take Scootaloo in, making her and Scootaloo adoptive sisters. But this works too.

That was lovely. Keep on doin' this writing thing; you do it well.

For a minute there I thought that Scoots and Pinkie were related, but then I realized the flashbacks were actually Pinkie!  I loved that twist, btw, rather than the usual fanon of her running away from home.

What a wonderful ending! You did a really good job of making the ending sweet but also sad and down-to-earth. Nothing's perfect - Scootaloo probably isn't exactly where she'd like to be, and Pinkie can't adopt her as she wanted - but, as Scootaloo says, things are turning out pretty okay.

I really, really love the way Pinkie's life has come about full circle by the end. She's paying Applejack's kindness back by throwing her the best birthday party ever, and has paid it forward as well by helping Scootaloo the way Applejack helped her. I always love stories which show some responsibility on Pinkie's part. This was a brilliant ending to a beautiful story.

I'm glad that Pinkie did not adopt Scootaloo, because if she had it kind of would have ruined the story by making me think 'Why didn't she just adopt her in the first place?' but since she didn't it makes the story more believable; the fact that Pinkie had been looking for someone that could adopt her made it work but I would have liked some hint at that earlier... well I guess this is a short story it doesn't really need foreshadowing.

I would have liked more scenes, to get a better insight into Scootaloo's life... maybe that's kind of cliché though, I don't know but I feel the story could have been more about Scootaloo as most of this is made up back-story for Pinkie and while those parts are good it felt like you should have focused more on Scootaloo to make her more of the main character for the story because the events of the present are more important than those of the past.

What I mean is: the back-story for Pinkie Pie was already resolved before your story even started, we know that she was adopted by the Cakes and that she grew up to be fine and happy an such; we didn't know what you would do with Scootaloo's character and overall it wasn't touched on very much, another thing was the idea that she hated Pinkie but that wasn't even explained.

Don't take that the wrong way though essentially what I'm saying is; I thought this was going to be a sad Scootaloo story but it turned out to be a fairly light-sad Pinkie Pie story and there's nothing wrong with it it's just not what I was expecting.

Ultimately a four star story, also you should avoid the word "arms".
