Sunset struggles against the chains around her. Bound by Princess Celestia's will, her flames, and her degrading morality. Seeking powers to reclaim what was promised, turning away from the ever-watching sun.
Cadance seeks purpose and answers to questions that had been long left unanswered. Entering into a new and unforgiving world. With every pony seeking to use the newest Princess to their end, she must find her path through the shadows and light.
Two sisters begin their cycle anew. The shadows start to dance once more as the darkness swallows the light. Ponies long since thought lost, return. Those shrouded by shade wait with bated breath for their plans to come to fruition. As ancient powers find new hosts, relics lost to the ages beg to resurface.

I don't have much to say except that your characterization is bang on. It's pretty sad to realise that this is how Celestia sees her student/surrogate daughter... I hope she'll be proven wrong, but then again this doesn't seem to be an alternate universe. Looking forward to more!

Thanks for your thoughts on my characterization. When I was initially planning out this story I knew that would be the thing I struggled the most with. Regarding how Celestia views Sunset is probably one of my favorite things about their entire dynamic. Especially how everyone views their relationship as something different. The potential is there for something beautiful but thanks to both of their actions in the past it has instead been replaced with something rotten. It is planned to be a large part of the story so fingers crossed I can stick the landing with it.

I really like this story. The deep anger and resentment shown by Sunset, the maneuvering of Cadance, and if course all of Celestia's neglect. This last chapter was an absolute bombshell, and it makes me wonder if Celestia will ever address the emotions and thoughts Sunset has displayed?

Sunset herself stated that she could possibly be the Alicorn of Hatred. With Cadance on the other hand while she is certainly "stronger" than Sunset at the moment she realizes that if any actual combat was to happen she would be at a sever disadvantage. Especially since she has yet to fully get used to her new ascended form. Celestia is not winning any parenting rewards in this story. Celestia and Sunset have a planned sit down and "chat" but both sides of the arrangement refuse to speak plainly with the other. You have seen what Sunset was thinking throughout the last chapter and the little snow covered vision. However I have purposefully not delved into Celestia's side of the equation yet.

Reread through the AU tag and will be adding it to the story. This is not a prequel for Equestria Girls. While the Mirror is an important part of the story the human world beyond it is not.
