Princess Celestia watches once more as a tragedy she could have prevented is performed before her eyes. The main character in such a play? Sunset Shimmer. The lead support? Princess Mi Amore Cadenza.

Throughout her rule Princess Celestia had but a singular motto. For on the morrow, the Sun will once more rise across Equestria. It was a declaration, an ideal, a promise, and a warcry. That she would always seek an ever brighter future for her ponies.

There were those such as Princess Mi Amore Cadenza, Cadance, who had accepted such promises and used them to fuel their purpose. Capturing such warmth and allowing themselves to act as another beacon to guide those around them.

Then there were those ponies who had refused such a promise instead, choosing to strike out on their own path. Sunset Shimmer the instigator of the most recent tragedy, Princess Celestia's own daughter was one such pony.

The love of a mother is put against the love of a ruler. For the monster has been captured after it had slaughtered so many subjects. The trial has yet to begin but the verdict has already been decided.

Sunset Shimmer and Princess Luna, two ponies that have lived in Canterlot castle for years. Yet during this time neither had truly met the other. This most recent Hearths Warming Day would have likely continued such a traditon. However three days before the day of fesitivities with Princess Celestia out of the castle, both meet once more. Interacting with with the other without the influence of the Sun.

Sunset finds her way into Canterlot City, after having escaped from the Alicorn of the Sun herself. A truth that couldn't be changed. A spark far too volatile for even the immortal Princess of Equestria herself. Now one that has been released upon the Earth.

Sunset's goal? Conquest.

Her current task, however? Learning how these Humans walk on these so-called feet of theirs.

A task made all the more difficult by the general lunacy that afflicts most humans. Thankfully one that is a magician in training has made its way to her by its own initiative.

Twilight Sparkle was seven years old when she was saved by an angel, 10 years old when she first attempted to go grave robbing, and 13 years old when she successfully summoned her first demon.

Shining Armor was 13 years old when his sister was nearly killed, 16 years old when he caught his little sister's attempt at grave robbing, and 19 years old when his sister summoned a demon from the pits of hell.

Cadance was 13 years old when she met Shining Armor in detention, 16 years old when she tried to confess to Shining Armor, and 19 years old when her boyfriend's sister summons a demon.

Sunset Shimmer doesn't remember how old she is. She knows that she is the last demon, summoned by Twilight Sparkle to make a pact that will tear reality itself asunder.

They must somehow survive a world gone mad and each other.

Sunset found something more than power when she went through the mirror. However after choices and consequences have caused what was once found to be lost. She seeks to reclaim her lost spark. No matter the cost. From the burning of her world to one that she once called home. She seeks to return to her loves side. This is the aftermath of these actions told to the grave of someone who is no longer here.

Sunset struggles against the chains around her. Bound by Princess Celestia's will, her flames, and her degrading morality. Seeking powers to reclaim what was promised, turning away from the ever-watching sun.

Cadance seeks purpose and answers to questions that had been long left unanswered. Entering into a new and unforgiving world. With every pony seeking to use the newest Princess to their end, she must find her path through the shadows and light.

Two sisters begin their cycle anew. The shadows start to dance once more as the darkness swallows the light. Ponies long since thought lost, return. Those shrouded by shade wait with bated breath for their plans to come to fruition. As ancient powers find new hosts, relics lost to the ages beg to resurface.
