Mystic Mind

The greatest storyteller of our time, or just another smuck pony fan on the internet? YOU decide! (Also I do episode analysis sometimes.)

Trixie Lulamoon has made great strides in improving herself since the Alicorn Amulet twisted her mind. She married the love of her life, Starlight Glimmer, rebooted her stage magic career, and come out as gender fluid to her friends.

Only to her friends. She has yet to come out publicly about it, and that bugs her. Is her ever-adoring audience ready to understand her non-binary identity? Or will it be dismissed as just another part of the show?

Seems great so far!
Your new friend, Rexy :)

Kind of cliché, but really well done! The fact that there was acceptance at the end really hits home for me, as a transgender man myself I was only accepted by close friends.
I am very happy this fic had a happy ending, in all the fics I've read with a nonbinary or trans main character, its always very angsty. It makes me happy that other genders are so accepted that happy coming out stories exist too.
How you executed how Trixie's gender felt was very well done as well. A bit confusing at first, but once you start reading the scene then it's easy to understand.

I'm glad this story connected with you :). These stories are as much a gift to the fandom as they are my passion projects, so feedback from other trans and NB folks is important to me.

But just as charcoal had multiple uses, so too could she use these memories to her advantage. With Starlight’s help, she made it her mission to create a fresh storyline for each trick, starting with the possessed tyrant.

ooh, very fun idea, Trixie using that lowest point of hers as material for the storyline of her act

“Whatever you decide, you know I’ll still love you, right?”

“I know, I know,” Trixie sighed. “I just wish I could let myself believe it.”

“Yeah, trusting yourself is hard, I know.” Starlight leant over and kissed Trixie above her horn. “But you’ll get there. I know you will.”

so true love StarTrix

The contraption she carried was a thick cone of metal, designed to fit snugly over a unicorn’s horn. It was a simple, largely antiquated device by the standards of modern Equestria – but this was less important compared to its fearsome appearance.

aww, the unicorn equivalent of handcuffs!

Etched into the casket doors, there were three symbols, each representing Equestria’s most infamous villains: One for Tirek, the power-hungry centaur; one for Nightmare Moon, the jealous sister; another for Queen Chrysalis, the shape-shifting changeling queen. As more cultists shambled on stage, keen-eyed viewers would spot small details woven into each of their robes: patterns resembling curved horns, insectoid wings and dark stars.

i have to say this is quite the jump in production quality from Trixie’s one-mare show!

“These gemstones were enchanted before-hoof, responding to a magical trigger within the caskets themselves. I wanted them to have a degree of limited autonomy, so the spell granting them sentience was somewhat complex. But more importantly, they were, and still are, versions of me – in a sense.”

a very on-the-nose way to express Trixie’s gender here

“Mommy! Daddy! look!” The child said. “She’s like me.”

aww! i did like this touch. it makes sense for Changelings to feel a special affinity for Trixie and this tour even before she made its meaning clear

The Great, Non-Binary: Trixie she thought. Simple, but effective.

hehe, a very Trixie way for her to express this!
