It was a pleasure working with you on this one :)

Oh-hoho, it's out! Let me just add this to my lists...

Ahhhh ha ha this is so good! (I’m also so very honored to have gotten a cameo, Aurora, you are amazing)

No matter how many times I revisit this universe, I always find a chill crawling down my spine at the crudely clear language that mercilessly nails its way into my brain. This story is no exception, and even though it's the third time I am reading this, the story does not give me any less of an impact. Well done, Aurora, and congratulations on the 10th anniversary.

In this curséd factory, where your worst nightmares come true...

10 year anniversary?! Oh God, I feel old now.

What a story. I can't imagine how hard was integrating old rainbow's behaviour with a sensible reasoning. We can clearly see how she goes over the edge into crazy town. The transition, the accompanying emotions, it feels so real. The migranes and all her 'feeling sick' was so perfectly done. That's my favourite part. When she sees scoots.

I thought that in the oryginal only RD could leave the building. I guess I was wrong, it changes nothing anyway.

There were a lot of numbers thown at us this time. Years, hours, practice counts. An odd thing to point out.

I knew something was up with this name!

I'm not gonna lie, this has to be one of the funniest book covers I have ever came across.

Hahahah oh my god :rainbowlaugh:

This is honestly fucking amazing. Making Rainbow Factory’s Rainbow Dash feel real, while keeping her character, must’ve been hard.

We ever gonna find out how Scoots is still alive in Pegasus Device?

“10 year anniversary” there’s one problem
it’s been 9 years not 10

Ah, that cover art gets creepier the more I look at it. Rainbow's face and expression, her form emerging from the shadows, body almost appearing bipedal lending an extra laying of sinister feeling, then the horrified faces of the foals.

It's like rainbow is a demon, like an old classic painting portraying the damned receiving punishment in hell.

That was well done. just... wow... That final line always sends chills down my spine. I can almost taste the emotion from the line.

Okay this was really fun to read. Wonder If we'll ever get some insight into Rainbow's falling out with the Ponyville gang. Also did you change up the dialogue a bit? I honestly don't remember Rainbow ever mentioning that Scootaloo was the one who pushed her towards becoming a director.

this story filled me with an incredible sense of dread. good job ! your writing is fantastic

There's also another thing

2012 2013 2014 2015 2016 2017 2018 2019 2020 2021

math doesn't account for this year, so it's ten actually

Well! Aurora! Oh how I missed reading Rainbow Dash murdering foals with her own hooves! Oh what a pleasure this was to read! The amount of times I muttered obscenities under my breath as I scrolled further, eager to read what happened next! Oooooohhhhh how I never knew I needed this story.

Still, Scootaloo's last line cracks me up a bit. Real spooky shit, Rora. Nice :) Happy ten years (and one day) of the Rainbow Factory.

The story was originally released on a Google Document on August 19, 2011 (5 days after the song came out).

The upload to Fimfiction came later, and then I had removed the story and re-activated it during a mental health crisis a bit later than that, which threw the date on Fimfiction off even more.

Thanks! I might have that info in the future, if I bring myself to complete a side project (Cloud interviewing Rainbow Dash).

The dialogue was slightly edited in February of this year, along with a minor grammatical and continuity update to the original story. The version of Rainbow Factory on Fimfic has these changes (done to prepare it for the printed version), but the original is linked as a PDF in the description for posterity :)

Ahh, I see, nvm then
It’s just I couldn’t find anything saying that date and the Google Doc in the description says Dec 2011

10944970
Hmm, so it does. That’s the date it was first uploaded to Fimfiction.

I’ve updated the doc with the accurate original publish date. Sorry for the confusion! 😁

Wow! This is remarkable! And it adds so much depth to the original story too! I would love to do a reading of this for Month of Macabre in October, if that's alright with you?

By all means, go right ahead! Thanks!

Awesome! Thanks! I haven't done a Rainbow Factory story before, so I hope I can do it justice.

This story is a well designed showing of how point of view can completely change the narrative. Seeing Rainbow's side to the ordeal is an amazing way to celebrate this anniversary, as we can truly see her motives from how she saw the situation.

I love it, the idea that Rainbow truly thought Scootaloo had it in her and that Scootaloo failing in her eyes was betrayal. Rainbow had done everything in her power to avoid the situation ever coming to this, to the point where she was convinced Scootaloo did it on purpose.

The image at the end is poetic, it's exactly like the original just from Dash's perspective of the situation.

This was Amazing. Possibly better than the original.

The mental gymnastics needed to justify what she had to do to her little sister. The pure hate needed to keep her from falling apart.

I know I just experienced Rainbow Factory a few days ago, but reading this one...it feels like a complete circle has been finished and it gives me warm fuzzies despite the dark nature of the story.

Having just read Rainbow Factory and Rainbow's Factory back to back (for the first time, ever), I gotta say, damn.

This was way way way better than I expected it to be. I thought I'd be met with simple cringefest horror creepypasta. Instead, I was met with some serious story and thought out setting. Actual characters! I loved to bits what you did here, exploring Dash's character and her descent into madness, what losing the final connection to her old life did to her.

I've got nothing but praise and this is a genre I'm definitely not into.

Seriously though, this was amazing and I'm sure Pegasus Device and PD:Reckoning will be just as well, so I'm gonna get to them right away.

Thank you all so much! That is exactly what I set out to do with this story and to keep seeing comments on how I really nailed the “Perspective is everything” aspect and gave the original that much more meaning really, really means a lot to me. Thanks for taking the time to comment :)

What a blast from the past to see that this story still has content. I really love how evocative it is in putting you into Rainbow Dash's mindset, you can really feel every ounce of rage and pain. It makes no excuses for how she acts, but does explain how in her mind, where everything is commodified and for the sake of the company, it makes sense. She's basically the perfect, dehumanized corporate dog who then kicks that can down to the "failures".

Surprised noone has done a reading yet, Maybe it's my destiny to.

Alrighty, it's recorded, I'll edit it tomorrow with a goal to have it finished by the morning of the 10th.

Hell yeah, can’t wait! Thank you so much!

This grim story is a no 4 me. I really dislike making the ponies swear in human language is waaaaayyyy to OOC for me. I have always been very picky on Grimdark stories and the more I read them, the more I dislike them. It really just doesn't fit into the ponies personality to just start killing each other. in my thoughts but others have their feelings torward Grim stories. My opinion

Certainly an improvement over the original, in my opinion. I appreciate the humanization of Rainbow in this story a lot more, given that it's from her perspective and delves into all of her hopes, anxieties, frustrations and fears. It feels more in-character for her than the original, at least for me, with how she hides her pain and fear with anger and attempts to act in a way that she's not. Lashing out when backed into an emotional corner. It makes her more relatable and understandable in comparison to her characterization in the original.

I also loved Dr. Atmosphere's characterization in this after reading the 'Pegasus Device' story for the first time as well. Where he's more compassionate and understanding toward her, and his orations are simple acts of theater to drum up the desired reactions. He's probably my favorite character in these stories because I not only find him pretty fascinating, but I also want to reiterate what a cool name - Dr. Atmosphere - is.

I'm glad I gave this stories another chance. Going to go into my personal archive to revisit from time to time from here on out. Fantastic work on the whole.

The thought stung in her head like a needle through her pupil

Whether intentional or unintentional, I can't help but latch on to the double meaning of the word "pupil".

I'm looking forward to Pegasus Device.
