Sequels1

T

Tempest Shadow might be reformed, but life has been far from kind to her. The legacy of her actions as the Storm King's second-in-command continues to haunt her as she struggles to try and build a new life in a land she had long ago forsaken. Mistrusted by many, and feeling that her life is going nowhere, Tempest struggles to learn the magic of friendship. Feeling defeated, she is approached by Princess Luna, and pointed towards a rather obscure little tailors shop in Canterlot, run by a pony named Elusive; a pony also trying to forget the demons of his past, Tempest hopes to find a way to reinvent herself, but in doing so, she will discover that she isn't the only one with a chequered past, and find that maybe some secrets are best kept hidden, and that some truths aren't meant to be known.

this is going to be a awesome story.
this is looking so good and has all of the right showings of a long story.

Hm, a great start to what should be a great story. I'm definitely keen to see what exactly Luna's got going on in Canterlot and whether or not it works out for Tempest.

O i am liking this Elusive and only a tailor sure just as Peter Gambi is a simple tailor.

“Oh, it’s just Elusive,” he said, looking up at her with a smile. “Just plain, simple, Elusive.”

And we had to lead on with that classic nod to one famed plain, simple tailor on a space station somewhere in the Alpha Quadrant.

yep Elusive is Peter Gambi for sure... this is going to be fun to see play out.

wow this is a grate chapter. amazing righting.

This is going to go completely fine. Absolutely fine...

Every time I read this right now I'm hearing Andrew J. Robinson's voice coming straight from Elusive.
You get an internet cookie if you know which role.

this is looking really good.

10895490 I definitely hear him when writing the character too.

i get the feeling that Tempest is going to walk in on Elusive doing something questionable.

Well that was a good evening.

Cue things going wrong in three, two...

(also seriously, why has this story not gotten more attention? This is good stuff)

10904132 FimFiction is a fickle beast. :applejackunsure: I try to update at around 8pm GMT so as to catch both folks here in Europe and North American readers. It's just the site's way. A story that's 80% meme can end up in the feature box, and something amazing (far above my tawdry abilities) barely gets a look in. :ajsleepy:

I usually try to update mine at around 3 pm EST. I heard somebody crunched some numbers and found that was when the most people were active on the site a day. I don’t know if that’s true or not, but it’s served me well so far.

Elusive reminds me of garak.

crap things are not looking good right now.
i am thinking a call to Thorax is needed.

hurry Tempest hurry.
this is a grate cliffhanger.

O,o there is a good back story hear if it is ever told.

a grate chapter.

Huh. Someling that dislikes Elusive enough to want him to live. Isn't that interesting.
I liked this chapter.

And roll credits!

Akkk! Complete!? Please tell me that this is just the first of a series?! This was so good and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Applause. I've not read le Carré's work, though I recognized the reference in the title. If this was an homage, I need to correct that oversight.

One question, though... Should I offer congratulations to Tempest on her accession to the Royal Equestrian Secret Intelligence Service, or offer condolences?

That would be more appropriate for the trek crossover star trek Phoenix an excellent mlp trek crossover

wow a amazing story. and the last chapter just awesome.
and the book reference. i love it.

‘A Rediscovery of Friendship’ by Obsidia.

10946630 I don't have any concrete plans as such. But I do have a couple ideas. Maybe a one shot or two? There's certainly more to be explored between Mandible and Elusive. If you know who Elusive is based on, perhaps you can see who Mandible is standing in for. :trixieshiftright: It'll be a while though. Work is busy as anything and I have very little time, and energy, to write.

10946655 The title may be his, but the story is more Roddenberry. As for Tempest, that all depends on your point of view.

10946765 Glad you enjoyed it all. I had a lot of fun writing it.

I am fully aware of this.
However, this was posted to the implication of Elusive being so damn similar to Elim Garak from the series.

Fair tbh ds9 is the one I have watched the least compared to next gen and Voyager

Hm. I slept on this story for a bit too long and only picked it up when I saw it was complete. Probably should have done so sooner - it's a good one. I mean, I'm always up for a unique take with Purple Edge Horse and there's plenty of room for more Garak in my life, so kudos there. Plus you did weave them together in ways that made sense and created a nice little tale along the way. Nicely done.

It's also the title to a novel by John Le Carre that was made into a movie.

Elusive is the name given to the AU version of Rarity in the story On a Cross and Arrow. IMO it's one of the best MLP R63 stories on the site. :duck:

This was an interesting story and I doubt the mystery of Elusive will ever be fully revealed. The book Elusive gave to Tempest seems like it's a reference to Generation 5.

And the mystery has been set up! So excited for this one!

This. Is. So. Good!

Seriously. A truly enjoyable story. How did this not break the 500-view threshold? Your Tempest, your Luna, your dialogue, your narration, Tempest’s train of thoughts, the mystery, all of it. It’s so beautifully weaved together. And your OC. Elusive is certainly something else; I figured he was the mystery from the moment Tempest saw him.

I’ll be the first to admit that the story felt a little slow at the beginning. You took your sweet time introducing Tempest, her personality and current situation, with the real plot kicking in nearly 8000 words into the story. It’s not necessarily a bad thing, but it almost turned me off at the very start. Just wanted to shared my thoughts with you.

Overall, though, great work. Easily one of the best mysteries I’ve ever read here on this site. But I feel like it’s not really solved yet. There’s just so much about Elusive, and Tempest, that needs exploring and elaboration. To the sequel I go!

she had no desire to head to the icy south pole where the Storm King had sprung from,

Yes! I'm not the only one who thinks he came from the south pole!:pinkiehappy:

She’d found some solace in Sweet Feather Sanctuary, a nature reserve outside of town. And while it’s proprietor was just as fearful of her as anypony else, it gave her somewhere to feel at peace. Plus the various animals didn’t seem to mind her that much.

Twilight, if you can't convince the mare who gave Discord a second chance (and a third, fourth, fifth, and possibly sixth) what chance do you possibly think you have convincing the rest of the town?:unsuresweetie:

“Diamond Tiara! Get away from that monster this instant!” A harsh, piercing voice commanded.

Ahh Spoiled. You never change do you?:ajsmug:

Then again some one pointed out that the Storm King might have burned down Ponyvile, so I get why she's pissed.:twilightoops:

Starlight tried to help Tempest, explaining how, in a crisis, ponies can fall into a herd mentality, and not necessarily think straight or act with good reason.

That's a very charitable way of putting it.:pinkiesick:

Actually, why doesn't Tempest go to "Our Town"? They forgave Starlight Glimmer.

How much hate can they have for a mare they never met, and probably didn't learn about until after the crisis is over?:rainbowhuh:

Unless Surger Bell has been talking to them.:rainbowderp:

“Were you perhaps looking for me, my dear?”

The voice was something of a high falsetto, with a marked Canterlot accent to it.

I suspected it before, what with the tailor whose a mistrusted spy, but this confirmed it.

This is pony Garrick isn't it?:rainbowkiss:
I love it.

It had a silky feel to it, being very lightweight.

It sounds very comfy. Perfect for Fizzy.

She was now clad in a beautiful midnight blue dress, just as Elusive described. The silky material ripped as she moved, examining herself. The dress was reasonably conservative, covering most of her body, leaving only her two front legs and part of her upper chest visible.

Look at Tempest in a dress! And one which reasonably suits her to boot!:pinkiehappy: Who hoo!:yay:

I mean, continue.:unsuresweetie:

“Specialisation, my dear Tempest, is for insects.”

Cozy Glow would agree.:pinkiesad2: Dang it now I want a Cozy Glow gets taught a trade by Elusive story!:raritycry:

Elusive meanwhile, was charming, cordial, and friendly, and yet at the same time unsettled Tempest more than the Storm King ever did. She couldn’t pin down exactly what it was there was just...something about him that didn’t sit right; a gut feeling that he was dangerous somehow, far more than she was.

See! Elusive and Cozy Glow really do have so much in common!
