Woah... this is good.  I'm watching!  Nice inclusion of Norse mythology!  it's a nice twist from the usual old Somepony gets pregnant or discord wrecks havoc sort of Mane 6 get a baby story.

Basically this idea is pretty original and written well.  Keep it up!

I assume that as soon as this is reported to Celestia the Life Mirror itself will be locked down with tighter security than the Elements of Harmony anyone who desires its secrets might decide that it would be easier to reverse engineer the magics from the foals themselves rather than attempt a break in that difficult.

Or as hinted by the Twi-Dash spawn the foals aren't normal ponies and may possess unusually potent or unique abilities.  All the mothers are exceptional specimens after all.  Twilight, Rainbow and AJ are absolute paragons of Unicorns, Pegasi and Earth Ponies respectively.  Fluttershy and Pinkie have non-standard magic for their types.  Rarity...  I've got nothin

And of course the mother's connection to the Elements of Harmony might have unusual affects as well.

*sigh* Not sure if this will live up to it's comedic potential or not. The key stage for that is next chapter. Rainbow Sparkle, Flutterpie, and... I got nothing! What the hell would you even call the unicorn offspring of Applejack and Rarity?! I suppose if this 'verse has Rarity's last name as Belle it could be Applebelle/Apple Belle... but if no Rarity Belle then I got nothing!

Awesome story so far, though right off the bat I had a problem with the synopsis. "Twilight Sparkle and her five best friends..." is inaccurate. It would lead one to assume that whichever Element has the weakest personal connection with Twilight should have been absent. So one would have been confused as to why there were six ponies instead of five ponies and one dragon. "...you are my number-one assistant and friend, and you always will be." At least reading the fanfic clarified that his existence as a character was acknowledged. Some jerky, careless authors like to just ignore him so they can focus on ponies. Looking forward to seeing this develop!

And Pinkie is an earth pony with a strong air affinity, while Fluttershy is a pegasus with a equally strong earth affinity.  

Since opposite pony/alignments make for strange talents, their pegasus foal will either be the oddest pony in Equestria, or be able to outfly Rainbow Dash while only a little filly.  Since her wings are at a constant full speed flutter already, I'm guessing it's the latter.  Especially considering that Pinkie Pie is one of the few ponies who can keep up with, and even overtake Rainbow Dash.  Little Flutter Pie, or Sky Pie, or Candy Cloud, or whatever, looks like she'll be leaving a pink trail in the air, provided she didn't simply inherit her mother's ability to teleport.  A foal with Pinkie Pie powers + the Stare, plus she can fly.  Pinkie, you've had it far too easy with the Cake twins.

Rare Apple, (or whatever the foal's name will be) will probably be a unicorn with an earth based affinity, since both her moms have an earth based affinity (plants, gems/beauty).  

Keep the romance on the sidelines!

Well, this is certainly intriguing. One can't help but wonder about how Discord and Sleipnir are related, and if Loki is involved somehow. (Father, son, and mother, perhaps?)

Actually. based on affinities, the best parenting combos might not really be the biological parents. Or a communal 6 way parenting group might be necessary.

Also, since all the foals are fillies, I vote for the following names:

Winter Gem (is a type of apple)

Levity (pun ftw)

Princess Awesome (No, Rainbow, we will not name our daughter... that.)

Starburst (because Skittles is overplayed)

Unlike the rest of you, I have another theory.

Seeing that it was supposed to fuse creatures to create a new, far more horrid, creature I don't any two of them are paired up at all. I think all of their DNA's were used in the creation of the three foals. And that rather than only 2 per, they are all actually biologically related to them.

I love the Lex Luthor reference, and I also am guessing this is a previous MLP Generation mirror? I could have sworn there was a mirror at some point that little ponies came from, and that's how they were "born." Can't wait to see where this goes.

Actually, you would be mistaken.  Pregnancy may be the most common cause, but there are several other entirely natural ways to stimulate the development of the mammary glands.   (for an example in humans, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wetnurse#Eliciting_milk)
