This story is a sequel to Dead by Sunset

Starlight Glimmer has never had the opportunity to be 'normal' but despite everything that's happened, she still tries to find happiness.

The closest thing she can find to that happiness is when she's with Sour Sweet, one of the only people in the world she's ever met who understands her, so despite her fragile grip on reality, Starlight Glimmer wants to stay beside Sour Sweet no matter what.

Maybe, hopefully, Sour Sweet might feel the same.

It's finally here and off to a good start! Can't wait for more and I have to say this (again, I think), thanks again for introducing to Dead by Daylight! I've been having a blast playing as Trapper!

No need to read the first chapter before adding this to my favorites. Dead by Sunset is easily one of my favorite things to come out of this website.

Considering the caliber of fics on this site that is a massive compliment. I don’t feel like it’s anything like as good as some of the stuff out there, but thank you. :twilightsheepish:

Trapper is also my favorite  and I’m glad you’re enjoying the game!

A fellow Trapper main, awesome and I can't wait for Pyramid Head tomorrow! :pinkiehappy:

There may be things more popular, but the stories that I'd say are "the best" on here are only on par with you, not better.

(Sniff) That's beautiful.

Romance sparked amidst the troves of insanity. It's a wonderful thing.

Is it weird that I think the idea of Starlight ugly crying is adorable? I also can't help but wonder what Adagio is doing where she can afford to just buy someone else a corvette.

10287858
No it isn't weird.

According to DBS Adagio works in a form of financial management. You'd be amazed at how much people will pay someone else to manage their assets.

10287892
Huh, I can't believe I forgot that. it was stated that she and Sonata do that in the Epilogue.

Also in the Campfire Tales chapter where Aria tells the group how she and her sisters got grabbed, she mentioned that they have shitloads of money, they just don't have any legal documents, social security numbers, identities, or anything, which makes moving any amount of cash really difficult.

10287907
Oh right, and they have oodles of cash.

10287907
Of course with Tempest and Grubber's connections, that's not an issue anymore. Corvettes for everyone, though I kinda see Aria as a classic muscle car kinda girl. Wonder what the others would drive?

This story is exactly what I needed. God-tier work, as always, I-A-M.

Thanks, I appreciate that. I'm also making a lot of progress on Dead by Midnight. I wish I had more time to write, I have way too many projects I'm working on, lol. :twilightsheepish:

These two are really meant for each other & I love it!

Btw I-A-M, have you gone up against or played as Pyramid Head in DBD? Me & friends did, the players using him were tough & terrifying!

I continue to enjoy your writing. :)

Well, this is nice.
They are there for each other. Two broken girls that can understand and be there for each other.

Let the Ship set sail to that beautiful sun light in the sky!

Cute!! I love Starlight's tone.

So Legions on the loose in Canterlot and Sour Sweet has the Spirits addons. Dead By Midnights certainly gonna be a doozy. Doesn’t bode well for Sour Sweet though, Spirits lore ain’t exactly happy.

"cocks her head to the left, brushes it all the way through four times, then cocks her head left"
Was one of those supposed to be "right"?

"throw up, and punch her in"
"throw up, or punch her in"?

Nice. :)

Well.. as sweet an ending as that was.. am I the only one concerned about the hints about what's going on with Sour Sweet? Cause seriously, those Teases That she's slowly becoming The Spirit are brutally horrifying.

I didn't even realize that was the ending! Oh no! I enjoyed spending time with Sour and Starlight so much I think I'm going to have to read it again soon.

I'm glad it ended with the only plot their relationship. I suspected something more but this means they got the focus they deserve.

I still love Starlight in first person and I'm happy these two found each other. Sour grew on me too eventually. I didn't love her in the original story but Starlight's perspective really helped with that.

So I walked in expecting "adorable" and somehow you managed to cram a bunch of "wholesome" in there too.

I really love the way you do Sour Sweet's vocal tic here. I haven't seen the canon, but you manage to make her snarky and sarcastic with this loveable undertone of razor-sharp wit, all without coming across as forced or played-up. Starlight is characterised just as beautifully, with her constant paranoia that her delusions will get the better of her neatly tying into her uncertainty of how Sour Sweet feels.

There's something really sweet about how Sour Sweet tries (and occasionally fails) to keep her tic in check when she's being sincere with Starlight. Shows that they're both willing to try and be better for the other one, and that they're both self-aware to their own issues.

Just... I dunno. Really nice, through the whole messed-up situation that it is. And I gotta say, a machete as a date gift? Sure as hell beats a bouquet of roses :twilightsheepish:

I have, that was interesting and odd. It was fun but i need more field research before i can start to succeed against him

10292065
What clues? So far, ðe only hint I could þink of was ðe machete sort of mætching ðe Spirit’s katana, but even ðen, ‘twas a gift for Starlight, not for Sour Sweet.

There's a couple of clues I can recall off the top of my head

the first is the fact that Starlight can hear the Heartbeat while Sour is unable to. Killers can't hear there own heartbeats. The more notable one is towards the end when Starlight mentions a series of strange items sitting on a table that Sour does not comment about, those items happen to be offerings in the actual DbD game to power up the Spirit.

There's probably more that I'm forgetting but those are the most notable ones, granted they could also be red herrings for all I know.

I read ðis æs one of Starlight’s hallucinations; æt ðe end, it claims ðæt Starlight cænnot hear ðe heartbeat because she cæn hear Sour Sweet’s, implying to me ðæt ðey were two different sounds. Ðe heartbeat of ðe Killer is oppressive ænd frightening; Sour Sweet’s heartbeat is soft ænd sooþing.

I’ll admit, I didn’t know ðis one; while I know of ðe game, I’ve yet to æctuælly play Dead by Daylight, so I’ve yet to see ðe Spirit in æction.

The heartbeat that Starlight was hearing in Ch.1 was a hallucination resulting from her schizophrenia.

I see, I wasn't entirely sure on that one as it could have gone either way and honestly only looked into it as much because of the way Chapter 3 ended. (also I note that The Author only specifies the heartbeats in Chapter 1. Does that mean that the ones in Chapter 3 are correct?)

I was really frustrated that I couldn't remember who's this items on Sour's shelf are and have to look it up on the wiki (though that not very surprising since I'm not actually playing the game)

Ahh, so cute, so happy, so wholesome, some's going to end miserably, am I right?

So it looks like if Sour was to be a Killer it would be The Spirit, but , and I know it might be a stretch but would Starlight be the Hillbilly?

I really liked this, even if it's rather short it does perfectly frame both characters.

The moment I was fully on board with this couple was whne Sour got under the bed with Starlgiht, that's a great-friend move. It took me by surprise the reveal that Sour had thoguht they were already dating (I remember a story that took a similar twist) and even more surprising was the gift, but in retrospect it fits really well with the whole 'unhealty relationships' going on in this universe. Makes me curious for Tempest and Sunset's relationship now.

huhm. the last piece of Dead by Sunset still up. It's a good one, to be sure, though I'm a little saddened the others are gone. There's likely a good reason they're gone, but it was nice reading them when they were up.

found here by searching for the first fic, to rec to a few acquaintances who were looking for dbd stuff. if you're still around to read this, I-A-M, thank you for writing the series. it was good. wish you well in your futures.
