Sunset Shimmer has made peace with her inevitable graduation and the fact that it may take her and her friends in different directions. She has college to look forward to and a bright future ahead of her.
However, during her last Spring Break before graduation, Sunset gets some shocking news from Equestria! Princess Celestia and Princess Luna have retired, and Twilight Sparkle is the new supreme ruler!
After some pleading, Sunset convinces Twilight to let her come back to Equestria and visit the retired princesses. Despite having already made amends with her former mentor, Sunset still hopes to set the record straight and close the book on her troubled past. And maybe, just maybe, the royal sisters will have some advice to give her.
Celestia and Luna didn't talk for 20 years!? Oh my, that must have been some fight...

Cute story... kind of feels a bit rushed.
REALLY good job on this one-shot. The exchanges, characterizations, general wrap-up and possible sequel set-up are pretty well done in all the right places. I especially liked Sunset's chat with Celestia and Luna as well as the mention that Cadance and Blueblood both turned down the role (to be fair, Cadance already has her hooves full with the Crystal Empire), the admission of past mistakes on all ends, the mention of the hobbies that Celestia and Luna took up in retirement and the possibility of planning for the pony Celestia and Luna coming to visit for Sunset's graduation.
Definitely looking forward to more of your work. Particularly the possibility of the graduation itself, the girls spending their last summer vacation together before heading off to their colleges and the girls' solo adventures at their respective colleges.
And I could easily see Sunset coming back to Equestria permanently after finishing college and becoming a teacher at the School For Magic years down the road.
10090012 I don't think Sunset would ever come back to Equestria for good. The human world is what gave her a fresh start and allowed her to become defined for the better.
A (sort of) sequel to a story I had suggested? This was quite an interesting surprise.
Although not exactly exceptional enough to list it among my favorites, I still thought it was a good read.
By the way, did you receive the PM I sent you a couple months ago about some other potential fanfic ideas I've had? The fact that I never heard back from you at all has sort of left me worried that I might've tried to push too much too quickly on you (and if that's true, then I'm really sorry, as I only wanted to share some ideas that I probably will never get around to writing myself).

This is a great follow-up to your other story, I love seeing sunset get some closure. I love the relationship she has with celestia and luna, it's nice to see them being so supportive to sunset
