It's been a long four years of High School, but Sunset Shimmer and her friends are finally graduating. But Sunset Shimmer isn't sure what to do with herself now. And thoughts of her old home are creeping back into her mind after two visits from Twilight Sparkle through the mirror.
Now Sunset has to make a choice. To return to Equestria, or stay in the Human World. What is worse, facing the mare you shunned as a foal, or college?
Something I've worked on for quite a while, I've decided to publish the first chapter, and will update as I work on more.

It's implied Sunset's been around for at least three years by the start of the first film - otherwise how could she have won homecoming queen three times? Of course, that also implies CHS is some kind of joint middle/High school as in order for that to be true AND Sunset to be a sophomore like the Humane 5, the first two crowns would have to have happened in 6th and 7th grade, the third/final crown during freshman year.

I was simply referring to the Human Element Bearers, as they were Freshmen (year 1 of 4) and close friends then; but afterwards broken apart by then-evil Sunset Shimmer by the next year (sophomores, year 2 of 4) when Princess Twilight pursued evil-Sunset for MLP:EqG #1.

you're quite right. But I did a bit of math. 30 moons = 2.5 years approximate[as per irl lunar cycles]. Sunset's likely been in the human world 7.5 years in total, if not a full 10 with possible return trips to gather more resources.
Reasoning behind this. If we assume magic was inaccessible to Sunset as it seemed to be in the initial film, She'd have to have returned to equestria at least once to even know about Twilight Sparkle. We can assume she's made at least 1 trip back, if not 2, She could have learned about the elements from Celestia while her student, but it comes off as if she knows a bit more than she really should.
So I'm running on the assumption she's been in the human world for a long time, and has made return trips to Equestria for resources [ie gem's and bits to sell in the human world] and to spy on royalty [up until the end of EQG1.]
And if it's just about the humane5, well they'd still have spent 4 years in highschool at least. plus likely middleschool together. with the what, 1 year or so Sunset had them broken up?
you're right that EQG on the whole can get a bit, confusing, combine that with the portal's weird time screwry [have the sirens been in the human world for over 1000 years? or did they just get there not that long ago?] but it allows for some breathing room.

In the season 5 episode of Scare Master, the Halloween episode for this last season, there are multiple instances of anime costumes that many background characters are wearing, Including but not limited to: Sailor Moon, Revolutionary Girl Utena, and Jem and the holograms, and while not anime, there's a Jason Voorhees pony in the hedge maze.

In the show, there are plenty of other things to look at, and they only last for a few seconds each.
In your story, the only thing one CAN read is anime bullshit (backdraw of textform), and it lasts much longer in terms of ratio of
