Good work! Though I can't help but wonder if the "Twilight versus Starlight/who's the better mage" concept is gonna bring the nuts out of the woodwork...

Absolutely LOVED this one-shot. :-D
The exchange, action, characterizations and general wrap-up of this completely equally matched magic duel was quite well-done.
And yeah, Twilight and Starlight accidentally releasing an eldritch abomination as a result of that duel IS a pretty good indication that they took the friendly competition too far (as well as an indication that they both might have been hanging around Applejack and Rainbow Dash too long).
Just loved Spike's reactions to all of these, taking it in stride & that ending......................................just hilarious!!!!
You know this made me think. People were very upset when starlight could match an alicorn, saying she's overpowered
But it occurred to me, When was is stated or mentioned that twilight became more powerful as an alicorn.
As far as we can tell, see she is as powerful as when she was a unicorn, during season 1-3 she could already do what many magic casters couldn't. she was celestia's top student for a reason.
Spike is going to have to clean everything up, isn't he?

Quite a good story, with an hilarious ending. But let me ask something: why did they do that in the LIBRARY and not in a place they could destroy a bit better?
