You are Scootaloo. You are here in Ponyville, alone without your parents. Your parents now live in this faraway land called Shire Lanka.

You imagine what it must be like there.

My other story Tyler dreams of Equestria was derived from this story, however I decided not to publish this until later.

Rated T for mentions of death and dark themes. No Scootabuse to be found here, I promise. :scootangel:

Very nice, deep thoughtful read for the evening, one with a gentle, soothing flow to it. Thank you for that.

and you didn’t even shed a single tear. You never forgave yourself for that.

This sentence really hit home with me. It truly did.

PS: A very small nitpick of mine: avoid using numerals—they break the readers from the awesome atmosphere.

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

I fixed the numerals. I used to be a huge supporter of using numerals instead of writing out the numbers because of being consistent with all the math and science stuff I do at school...but now I don't really care one way or another.

You’re welcome!

Well, it’s alright (and preferred) to use numerals in scientific papers, textbooks and such, mainly because they stand out. And that’s also the problem of why they are almost banned from fiction—they draw too much attention to themselves and divert the reader’s focus from the plot. There are some exceptions to this rule, such as years (in 1620) and certain codes and names (e.g. DJ Pon3).
So, a fellow scientist?

not going to lie, when i read the title, i thought you were gonna make Scootaloo's parents be in one of the targeted churches in Sri Lanka when the suicide bombers came in. (I have a dark mind, i know)

Eh. Studying engineering in university. If that counts.

Erm, I see. I never even heard about the Sri Lanka bombings until your comment.

It happened a little while back, but still recently if you haven't already researched it. (https://www.theguardian.com/world/sri-lanka-attacks if you want to research it. Though i wouldn't recommend it. Sorry, i'm trying to be a historian, but at the same time not be offensive or insensitive for bringing up such dark subjects.)

Too much angst for my taste, especially given how it completely ignores Scootaloo's aunts. You know, the ones who moved to Ponyville full-time explicitly so Scootaloo would have someone to come home to.

Yeah, Scootadrama is always a hard sell for me. Sorry to say this didn't do much with the idea.

I can understand how some readers might be put off by the lack of Scootalooaunts. I interpreted this story as being in the context of the past canon when we didn't know about Scootaloo's aunts, so it didn't bother me.

I can also see how someone could criticize this story for "too much Scootaloo angst," or someone could think this fails to be a complete story with a clear and complete resolution.

But I enjoyed this. What a mood. We see how the mood comes about and evolves, too.
