Also, to put something into italics, either put "" at the beginning and "" at the end of whatever you want changed, or you could simply go over what you wanted italicized and highlight it, then click the "I" button at the top. Thanks for the italics lesson! :) I think it might've been a problem with the computer and/or browser I was using. I was at a volunteer gig when I uploaded the first chapter, but now that I'm on my home computer, I seem to be able to use bold and italics just fine.

I'm impressed. You wrote drunken Dash really well. Just wrote drunk in general very well, I guess.

My only problem is that I didn't understand why ---Party of One, when Pinkie was depressed + Dash saying Pinkie has pretty eyes = Pinkie is sad and Mane 6 disapproves --- I literally have no idea where that came from. . .

Okay, so I try to be subtle in my writing to not everything is in neon lights but apparently I went overboard and landed into the Valley of Obscure Motivations. Sorry 'bout that.

Everyone who doesn't like getting the author's intentions presented outside the story itself, please stop reading here.

So, the gist of things is ... Rainbow, and everyone else, knows that Pinkie is crushin' on her something fierce. They also all know that RD doesn't return those feelings (suggested, for example, when RD mentions that she pretends she doesn't understand what Pinkie's smile means). When RD flirts with Pinkie at the party, it's just to get a quick ego-boost, because she's feeling kinda down and low--it's not meant as a declaration of love or anything. Or, at least, that's what everyone present assumes, and that's why they react the way they do.

Plus, RD has a hinted-at past of being ... careless ... with other pony's feelings towards her ...

I suspect it's because Pinkie is supposed to be obviously head-over-hooves for Dash, and Dash is using her alcoholism as an excuse to tamper with Pinkie's attraction. It's a line deliberately fed to Pinkie to make her think "Dashie thinks I'm cute" so Dash can milk a few seconds of hope and desire out of her to soothe her cracked ego. Unfortunately, as soon as that happens, Pinkie Pie realizes why Dash does it and takes off upstairs, not to check on Gummy but to crack in private so her friends don't have to see how badly Dash's insincere advance just hurt her. Rarity, not being blind to this emotional interchange, bitches at Dash for pulling it. Fluttershy and Applejack, having been Dash's previous flings, recognize it for what it is.

If y'all dig Rainbow Pie and haven't read these stories yet, I highly recommend them. These are the best Rainbow Pie stories I've found, bar none, and the ones that have inspired me to try my hand at writing the pairing (apologies in advance if these are already familiar to you and old news):

- Cloudy Skies' "Rainbow Dash's Best Plan Ever" (http://www.fimfiction.net/story/3542/Rainbow-Dash%27s-Best-Plan-Ever): A bit unusual in that Dash is the one pursuing Pinkie.

- Chistery's "Rose Tinted" (http://yamathan.deviantart.com/gallery/): Sadly, the story seems as though it may be permanently discontinued. Still, even in its incomplete state, this is THE story that all Rainbow Pie stories wish they could be.

- AbsoluteAnonymous' "A Million Things To Do" (http://www.fimfiction.net/story/2356/A-Million-Things-to-Do): It's friend-shipping and not romantic shipping, but it's still a wonderful take on the Rainbow Dash/Pinkie Pie relationship.

- Sleepless Brony's "Romance Reports" bonus chapter, "Private Party" (http://www.fimfiction.net/story/1422/18/Romance-Reports/Bonus%3A--Private-Party): It has some very graphic sexual content, but it's a wonderful character exploration. The entire story is wonderful, but this chapter is very specific to Pinkie and Dash.

That was certainly one of the best Rainbow Pie fanfics I've read.  Unlike a lot of fics, it doesn't just shove them together for no particular reason.  Shame to see it end, but no story can go on forever, heh.

This sir, this is tremendous. I would shower you with praise, but I think it would suffice to say that this, at least for me, is THE rainbow-pie story. This is it. Every other one I've read has had the two rush into things and it always ends up feeling forced (haven't read those ones you recommended yet though). This did everything right. I can't think of anything I didn't like.

I don't fancy THAT much PinkieDash. But this is one of the best fanfics ever, not of the best RainbowPie fics, no, of EVERY MOTHERBUCKING SHIPFIC EVER. I've really enjoyed it, and you're a really good writer. the plot was perfect, nothing boring, it was very "active", and how you entered the characters, its just epic. You sir, are an awesome person, and you should know it

Keep it up like that! maybe you can make another story, maybe Appledash, Flutterdash, Or buck it, I think that if you write it, I could even read a Derpy/Discord fic, and I don't even know if that exists!

I've always been a strong PinkieDash advocate, and I applaud and approve this ship - may it sail into a thousand harbors of hearts, and unload its... cargo of love... in them. Or something like that.

I don't read many "normal shipping" stories (I like my adventure and comedy shipping) but this piques my interest.

Greetings and salutations, good readers of Equestria Daily! I tried leaving a comment on the ED post with my story, but I'm having issues with the commenting system at the present moment.

To everyone who's commented both here and over at ED: Thank you so much for reading my story and for taking the time to comment on it. I feel both highly honored and mildly terrified to have my story featured on ED.

I've found all of the thoughts on the verb tense issue really interesting and useful. I don’t mind stories in the present tense, myself, though of course some stories employ present tense more effectively than do others. (I won’t presume to judge whether my story does or not—-that’s not for me to say.) I knew present tense isn’t popular over at ED, but I hadn’t known feelings ran quite so strong against it. I’m sorry it’s presented an accessibility issue for some readers. That was never my intention.

A bit in my defense, and a bit just as arcane background, I originally began writing the story in the more usual past tense, as I do with most of my writing. But I kept consistently slipping into present tense despite myself and, finally, just gave in and wrote the story that way. Oh, well. Not all experiments end in success. C’est la vie.

Huh. Decided to give this story a shot and I was surprised to see that I loved the writing style. I am really digging this story so far and how you're laying it out for the readers, and what you're leaving them to figure out. Definitely favorite'd.

OK. I don't mind present tense at all it turns out. I had no problems reading it and it actually made the scenes more visceral as if I was watching them unfold instead of reading about them.

Now as for the story itself. It was... good. I had no technical issues or complaints with the story, just some slightly negative emotional ones.

At first I found it a little too down on Dash but I got used to her when it got into her weekly schedule.

Then I balked at the ponies relationships being too mature and relevant but I got over that because even though the dynamics were all adult complicated, the tone was light enough to cope.

Then I got a little peeved at the idea that Dash had been with AJ and broken up; but after the day at the farm, and seeing how well RariJack (one of my more accepted ships) was working out I got over it.

Overall I would rate chapters 1-6 between 3.5 and 4 stars.

Closer to 4 because of the solid writing and storycraft. More or less my issue was that it felt it was missing the lighthearted charm and sense of FUN that I resort to ponies as my primary outlet for.

And then Chapter 7.

Dayum.

I have no Idea how you pulled that Sonic Rainboom of a chapter off but it was AMAZING.

It was EVERYTHING I could have asked for. The shipping relationships were natural, the characterizations were perfect, the comedy genuinely made me laugh, the WTF moments made me jaw drop instead of facepalm, the emotions were infectious.

Holy crap.

5 Stars for that chapter alone.

The only other shipping stories I have ever read that elated me to the gegree as that chapter 7 are Once Bitten, Twice Shy and The Ballad of Twilight Sparkle.

(Also what's up with scenes of Dash slowdancing with ponies? First Dance 'til We're High now this. I like it but it's an interesting and HNNNNNNGGGGGH trend.)

In my head, this was narrated by the Bastion narrator. It was SO! AWESOME!

Seriously amazing. This was very enjoyable to read, and each chapter only made me want to read more. You did the one thing that IMO makes a good story among the best, got me to feel the emotions that the characters felt, like "She shudders as though she’s taken a cannonball straight to the chest," and that's coming from a person that usually doesn't like to read because it doesn't grab me, this one PULLED me in.

MY FAVORITE CHAPTER. That couldn't have been any better even if you tried because you can't get better than perfect. The imagery and feelings were great and, I guess you could say, it went how I was hoping it would. 5*

Absolutely awesome! Without a doubt one of the best MLP fanfics I have ever read. Characterization is great, I love how you actually managed to get some kind of Rainbow - Rarity friendship going, which hardly even exists in the show, and I absolutely adore the way you write Rainbow Dash. She behaves exactly as I expect her to behave, her thoughts and motivations are what I expect them to be. Honestly, I like this fic more than the 2 most recent Dash episodes.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing more from you! Rainbow Pie is now definitely confirmed as the OTP!
