This story is a sequel to Dueling for Dessert

After a fun duel in the human world, Rainbow begins to wonder about the differences between the two Twilight's. Best way to find out? A duel of course. Now the stage is set as the two Twilight's duel. So why don't they seem more excited?

Good work on SciTwi's backstory and why she choose those monsters. Ending was heart warming and something I wish we could see in the series. There really is something there!

“Yeah, none of us have the weird hairdos to pull that off,” Rainbow chimed in while the others nodded.

You're one to talk ms. Rainbow hair.

I was going to say, "Damn, only ten likes?" Then I realised the story was only uploaded ten hours ago... This is the earliest I've been for a story in my time here. Anyways, I found this was really awesome and I was actually rooting for Sci-Twi to win. Really good job, guy.

Thought I'd give it a bit of a twist, not letting the focus character win. Glad you enjoyed it

I doubt that will ever happen

She has duel spirits, this needs more!

not bad; nice touch giving Twilight and Sci-Twi different decks; side note, I can TOTALLY see Sci-Twi wielding a Genex deck; also:

“And now,” declared Pinkie Pie as she pointed at a finger at her opponent Applejack, “I will attack you directly with my Toon Dark Magician and win the duel!” Pinkie’s monster began to twirl his staff around above his head until he became visibly dizzy as indicated by the spirals in his eyes. It ended when the staff hit the back of the young wizard’s head, knocking him forwards a bit but still managing to point it at Applejack. The staff fired an orb of darkness which oddly, had a big pink smiley face on it. It bypassed Applejack’s monsters and hit her, causing her life points to drop to zero.
“Dang it,” groaned Applejack as she dusted herself off. “Thought I had it that time. Still, good match Pinkie.”

okay, I'm a bit upset that we don't get to see what sort of deck Applejack carries in this world, but I appreciate that Pinkie Pie uses Toons in this world: we don't see enough of that in these types of stories for some reason...

This was decent, and a slight improvement over Duelling for Dessert. Clearer glimpses into the duelist's thoughts, a decent portrayal of Sci-Twi and her personality, and even a solid explanation of her using a archetype that has poor synergy (though despite that, it still gave Pony Twilight a decent run for her money, mostly down to how you chose to script the game). The duel was generally better written too, making it possibly to keep up with the cards in play, with a few exceptions (when there were lots of different Genex monsters in play, for instance), and even hand card sizes.

All that being the case, it still has a very contrived setup, more so then the previous story. Being in Equestria Girls, which itself has a contrived setup, that was to be expected. Still, between that, and the easy summoning of Pony Twilight and Spike for the game (as well as no one being surprised by Spike speaking or other Twilight being from Equestria - pretty sure most of the CHS students don't know that), it's clear this story exists purely for a duel between two Twilights, with little done to hide that fact or make it organic. The prose quality as a whole is largely the same as before - a little rough around the edges at times, perfectly serviceable, but not quite having that spark.

Still, if I could prefer this despite it being an EqG rather then normal Pony story, it's clearly doing something right. Who knows, by the time I get to the most recent duelling stories, I could be well impressed!

Thank you. I put a lot of effort into this and used my old Genex Ally deck for Sci-Twi. Yes, I have that deck and am still trying to get it to work because I just like it. I had reread my old work prior to this story and did my best to improve on a few things, such as you mentioned. I also enjoyed writing in Sunset's parts.

To be honest, I could see this happening in a short. Not the duel, but having the girls wondering what else might be different for the two characters to duel. Also, given how quick Sci-Twi can jump to the worst possible conclusions at times, the fact that she knows there's another Twilight out there before her, that this was the first group of friends she has ever made, I felt like this would be something she would thing. As for Princess Twilight...she's there and put under a spotlight in front of everyone. Still, I believe I did my best to keep the characters as themselves, even being nice to each other when they dueled.

If you are longing to see them in pony form dueling again, Dueling for a Chance is the only other one like that. The rest take place in the EGU. At this point I was trying to find the groove that would fit my writing style with this crossover. As long as people enjoy it, I'm happy. If they have questions, concerns, or even suggestions I'll listen

Aren't all duels scripted to make them exciting? At least the cards used to help the deck are real instead of made up

“But the only card I control is-” began Princess Twilight as she quickly looked behind her. Her dragon, despite knowing it was about to be destroyed, let out a defiant snort. Crusher, meanwhile, opened up a compartment on one of its arms and took out a small sphere. Once the object was in its grasp, the machine wound up like a pitcher in a baseball game before throwing it at Armed Dragon. Once the dragon was hit, it was sucked into the smaller sphere which then fell to the ground and exploded. The Spike from Equestria whimpered in horror at its destruction.

This part made me think of pokemon.

That was a pretty fun duel.

I am glad both Spikes didn't miss out on seeing this.

Also, Sci-Twi's backstory on why she is using Genex was pretty heartwarming.

i really liked this. its certainly difficult to write duel stories, you damn near have to have played the decks yourself. it carried that good classic ygo energy, great job
