A path to darkness is never something that happens overnight - it is an event that culminates over time, an event that comes from the result of bad experiences and the folly of youth. Or at least, that was the case with Starlight Glimmer.
Starlight Glimmer has never told the whole story of her life - Sunburst moving away may have been the start of her descent, but there were many more steps she took along the way.
And Trixie is curious as to what exactly happened.
GM's note: I know this idea has been done before, but I wanted to do it myself. See what I could do with it. I also know the recent episode completely removed the possibility of this being canon, but I'm keeping it up.

I've never seen Starlight as a mad power hungry dictator, she struck me more as having a Messiah Complex, and the hiding her cutie mark was more a necessary evil since she had no other way to remove cutie marks available to her. I do like here how she doesn't completely flip flop on her beliefs: makes her seem less like a completely different character.

I tried to paint that she started out like that - that's how the cult began in Our Town. But after a while, she truly did become a really nasty controlling pony - yes she had a Messiah Complex, but she also wanted to keep control of the ponies in HER Town. She was very possessive, and manipulative even of herself to some extent. She started out with good intentions and went downhill really quickly where good intentions were no longer really factored into the equation.
I have seen the finale though, so that might have made me view her character in a different way than most of the others at this point.
Anyway, thanks, I tried to make her more realistic. Glad to see it worked at least somewhat.

my headcannon though is she overreacted or she had legit feeling for Sunburst and missed him but hey we all have different theories and headcannons
Trixie could also be an incredible amateur sleuth, especially with regards to illusions used by stage magicians.
