If a friend asked you to tell them the meaning of the universe, what would you say?

Twilight has to answer that question.

yes, this is a valuable writing.

This reminded me of this particular movie scene:

What is the purpose of this story?

...i wrote it one day when I was in a certain mood and decided to publish it. Frankly, beyond that, there isn't one.

It's mostly a philosophical musing.

So, everypony dies for some reason, Starlight Glimmer goes out to sulk on a star, and Twilight goes to cheer her up? :unsuresweetie:

I wrote this when I was depressed. :twilightsheepish: Published it when I was depressed as well.

...I'm not depressed often, so I needed to get it out, and well, there's a reason it sits here at the bottom of my stories.

It's no problem. Just a bit of a confusing setup. This story makes total sense if you consider the story as a sequel to this.

Life is always worth fighting for. In the end, even if our feelings are delusions (and I don't believe for a second that they are), if there is nothing else to latch onto, why not latch onto them? What's the upside? Who wins if you prove life is meaningless? No one. Certainly not you. Better to take a chance that there might be something more. If you're wrong, then it doesn't 'matter' anyway, but you'll die having had a life that you felt was worth something. And if you're right, well, perhaps eternal rewards in some form. An adaptation of Pascal's Wager I suppose. I approve this work.

Or to sum it up in plain words: something bad happened, Starlight got all mopey and depressed, covinced herself of a broken way of thinking (minus the effect of what happened last time she was like this).

And Twilight had to go and drag her out of her funk. Like it or not.

Just how I got it. Good story though.
