Twilight Sparkle has received a rather odd challenge from Princess Celestia for Extra Credit. This challenge involves writing a short story, poem, review, or any piece of written literature that does not use a word known as 'The'. Truly, it shall prove a daunting challenge, as this word is used at least 50 times per day by an average intelligent being! Can th- er, shall she succeed?
(And will I? Sounds impossible, but I'm both drunk and high on caffeine, so Challenge Accepted!)

Celestia smiled fondly and gazed above Twilight's head a bit, her eyes distant as she gazed into the past.

"Anyway, the challenge itself is simple

There could be more, I wasn't paying it too much attention.

Twilight's pondering was interrupted when Cadence entered the room to check up on her.

thanks.
So far two people found three 'the' that I missed. Now corrected. I am disappointed in me.

Twilight once more raised her quill and dipped it into its ink well to replace the ink that had dried on it earlier

Still curious as to why I can't seem to be able to post the video itself instead of a link. Click to 1:32
It's harder than it sounds to not write something without using the word 'the'. I'm so used to doing so that I do it without thinking. This also makes it harder to proofread it. That being said, thanks for pointing it out.

I think you might need to fine tune the sentence where the last "the" and the "^" appears. "Placing Cadance's poem back on ice box," does not quite work as a sentence.

"When can I start?!" She nearly shouted with an eager hop in the air.

She nearly shouted and hopped eagerly

"Not once. Can you can do that?"

Can you do that? or maybe Think you can do that?

^ Sheesh! This is harder than you'd think! :twilightoops:

I never said this looked easy. it looks impossible. but hey, striking through the our forgiven word is actually a very nice touch that adds to the this story. :raritywink:

not a single time was that accursed word used in Cadence's poem to Shining! "wha- wha-

to be fair, it was a bit short. but hey, she was a foalsitter, not a writer and it was ncredibly cute  :pinkiehappy:

Twilight sat down with the paper poem hovering in front of her to think.

Twilight sat down and levitated said paper in front of her as she thought

You've probably already guessed this, but every time there was a the crossed out it was where I made a mistake. Those weren't just put there for silliness' sake.

I enjoyed this story. I was honestly expecting Twilight to jot down something like:

Roses are red
Violets are purple
And while I am writing this
I am standing on my Curple

Just so she'd completed Celestia's Challenge whilst fixing Cadences mistake by being accurate to Violets color :P
