With no Elements of Harmony, Celestia failed to stop Nightmare Moon from bringing eternal night and got banished to the moon. A year later, and she comes back down to Equestria, but the lands looked nothing like before.

There is a hypothesis, that states that every decision or choice that we make, a new parallel universe splits off from our own with a different decision or choice contrary to the one we made in this reality.

So unbeknown the Princess Celestia of this story & the mystery stallion, there is a parallel universe that has Princess Celestia succeeding finding the bearers.

Who is this mysteries pony? A power down NMM/ Luna, Discord, or some random OC? Whoever it is they know Celestia and NMM are sisters so the possibilities are limited.
