7080455 Here's a 'secret': The only reason I made the changeling identify as male is because writing two females means I would have a lot of similar pronouns referring to different characters, which meant I would have had to spent a bit more time making it obvious who each 'she' or 'her' came from. It may not be a huge issue, but it is annoying enough for me that I would have had to spend a bit longer. Regardless, I'm glad I made the decision I did, because the story would have otherwise been ever so slightly more generic.
I also dislike male's being impregnated as well, and my reasoning for this is the same as yours. 'He' is actually closer to a she, but even then that wouldn't be right. We as a society need an accepted pronoun for herms...
Anyways, He can technically produce eggs of his own, but these changelings mainly serve a double purpose as producers of sperm and incubation for other changeling's eggs. Because eggs need a lot more love than sperm to actually be produced, so changelings who get a lot of love will produce eggs. This means, as of this time, Click is infertile in the egg department. However, those changeling who get a lot of love are usually infiltrators, but they can't very well raise a changeling family while gathering love for the hive, so usually their eggs will pass unfertilized. Similar to chicken ovulation. They can self-fertilize, but it isn't very common.
So, once every (undetermined time) an infiltrator will come back into the hive to mate. They get their eggs fertilized, then due to the influx of love they grow an ovipositor and pump eggs into a few separate changelings. This is why non-queen changelings don't have a cervix. The egg can hatch within the incubators, yet still stay inside the mothers for a good while. And then the young is birthed live. It's not a good idea to put multiple eggs into a single changeling, though, because one of the eggs will steal all the love while the others die. Two or three is okay, but any more is a risk. The queen made this 'mistake' in the moment, but she honestly couldn't care due to the fact the princess' egg will obviously 'eat' all the others.
And this is a big reason why click wanted to be an infiltrator, because he wouldn't have needed to carry a changeling, just fertilize his own eggs and pass on the responsibility to others.
Hmm, maybe one day I'll write a fic showing this process.

That's also why the Mane6 crushed so many of them during the invasion, all their best warriors had been assigned as janitors back in the hive... Twilight and company were actually blasting highly trained nurse maids.

Hit the nail right on the head. Chrysalis sucks at running a hive in my mind as well. The only thing anything gets done is her advisers, but even then they can't do everything.
If I were trying to make her the perfect changeling queen in this fic, then she would have had him impregnate her, let him go (so he could gather tons of love), and gotten a random broodling to lay her queen-sized egg. After that, she would have gotten some other broodlings for her other non-queen eggs. Why waste perfectly good future changelings? Note that broodlings volunteered for the job, they are not usually forced, because they get to lay around all day at the price of gestating young and giving birth. Some find this a good trade-off, while others, like Click, find it horrifying. Although, since changelings don't have a cervix, the pain is slightly diminished when compared to ponies. (I'm also still trying to debate if changelings go through a larval stage or not. If they did, then birth would be less painful.)

Probably my favorite oviposition fic to date. You captured Chrysalis perfectly. I haven't seen a fic where the ovipositor itself gets fucked, it was a delightful surprise. Great read!
