Haven't ready the story yet, but I'm already getting a "Bride of Discord" feel from this. And I'm okay with that. And I am not okay with that. (Cinema-sins reference.)
Wow, the ending was quite a surprising move for Shy. It was interesting to read a book about Sombra that portrayed him as a monster and Fluttershy's reaction to it was quite the bold one. Burning the book (hope Twilight doesn't find out ) due to being inaccurate was something I'd never expect Shy to do in the show yet it works perfectly on this story. Thanks for the chapter.
hope for another chapter soon
I like those subtle book title references.
7676000 I'm getting more of a Beauty and the Beast vibe, myself.
7676112 And "Bride of Discord" was based off "Beauty and the Beast".
this story is... i dont have the proper words to describe it. It just pulled me in and made me wanna continue reading as fast as possible. Im sad im already at the last chapter. Do write more, please. I'm hooked.
7676132 Oh. I see
Getting really sick of ponies in fanfiction burning books. At least it isn't Twilight doing it this time.
So far all he's done is threaten mass murder, engage in kidnapping and pony trafficking, and violently rape her.
He has done literally nothing that contradicts her preconceptions, or even the over-the-top implausible nonsense in that book she burned. It's all been monstrous behavior and honeyed words.
I'm curious what Fluttershy's family thinks of this. That book as no doubt written by someone who never met Sombra and imagined his backstory to make it more interesting and the Alicorns more 'good'. History is written by the winners after all.
yes! im happy i got to read this!
though i cant wait to see how she feels about sombras fighting and possible executing dangerous war lords.
A Skyrim fan, I see.
7677613 Morrowind is my favorite game in the series, but, yeah, Skyrim is good too.
Yay I didn't have to wait months for the next chapter!!!! Hope this trend continues. :)
As much as the book may be hyperbole, Sombra has a bad reputation for a reason. I want to see more scenes that show while he may not be the ultimate evil, he is still not a good pony.
7679008 Well, he's besieged the Crystal Empire and forced Fluttershy to merry him against her will. His villain card checks out so far, I'd say.
7679008
I'm not even sure if he is all-bad. He seems more like a villain out of convenience and self-righteousness rather than enjoying evil. His end goal appears to be restoring an estate and territory to normal function, which goes counter to his less-than moral means of doing so.
7692851
He still was considered dangerous enough for the Princesses to lock in ice. He may not be "all bad" but he still has a legacy that means he can still do something atrocious.
on a scale of 1-10 how made will discord be when he finds out about this
7707533 I believe you mean mad. I would say 10.
7707533
7707546
11 actually. That's All I'll reveal for now.
7708647 I just can't wait to see what happens next I really love this story
7737230 Glad you like it. Stay classy.
Huh, I read the first chapter of this quite awhile ago, and am now just coming back to the story. Did the first chapter get altered or is my memory of it just faulty? I remember Fluttershy being a lot more...willing and interested in events on their wedding night, which seemed horribly out of character to me. This read through though, is a lot better. She's a little tipsy, terrified, but also a little turned on, which terrifies her as well.
Asides from that oddity, I do like the story. Flutters is still scared of Sombra, as she should be, and is also freaked out by her new rank and, well, how many changes she has gone through in such a short time. I kind of wonder if Sombra's advisor saw how scared Fluttershy is, and intentionally disrupted what Sombra was planning on doing to her in the bed that morning. Maybe she saw how desperately Flutters was gripping the sheets to keep herself from panicking?
Once Fluttershy starts getting out of feeling scared and numb, I imagine there might be complications. Kindness living with the embodiment of cruelty? There is going to be clashes. At least, if Sombra doesn't just backhoof Fluttershy when she starts trying to help others or animals in the area. Living with someone who talks happily about killing others...Fluttershy is in for a very rough road. I hope she doesn't come out the other end of this intact. Flutters personality is already twitching at her about not being kind or helping others *The girl dropping the pastries and the pregnant mare bowing being two such examples*.
Look forward to seeing more, and curious on how Fluttershy will develop into being more than just a piece of arm candy with Sombra.
Hmmm. Moon door? Hobbit reference, perchance?
This is a very well-written and gripping tale. I'm wondering if Sombra wasn't abused by his father who blamed him for his mother's death. There could be some truth to the tale.
FLUTTERSHY! YOU could at least have showed the book to Sombra BEFORE you burned it. I'm sure he would have got a laugh out of it at least.
“He who destroys a good book kills reason itself” John Milton
And now Fluttershy is more idiotic than Bella.
I loathe this story more than "Twilight" now... I shall require time to properly eviscerate it.

Key word is good
Ehhh, I guess I'll flip on my internal "Alternate Universe" switches before I read any further. If you're implying that the book was just propaganda that's fine, but having Fluttershy toss it in the fire and not believe it at all makes her worse than the girl from Twilight. She's been there for two days maximum and she's already acclimating.
It's weird how quickly Fluttershy is acclimating. Really weird. I can get suspecting that he's somewhat misunderstood at this point, but within a couple of days he's threatened the lives of every innocent pony within a city, basically traumatized Fluttershy their first night, and outright threatened to massacre everyone who could challenge his claim on his territory... Even being an element of kindness, can Fluttershy still rationalize this away? With all due respect, I find this hard to follow.

My theory has to do with female hormones, with how physically close he's been

I mean if I were in fluttershy's position and some hot as hell strong dude who seems to have a very diamond in the rough heart of gold were coming onto me I'd not spurn him.
Like people say x and y is unrealistic and sure as a story its not ideal but its not actually unrealistic
There and Back Again: There and Back Again by Legends
A Song of Wind and Water: A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R Martin
To Kill A Cockatrice: To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee
Of Mice and Ponies: Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck
Interview With The Bat Pony: Interview With The Vampire by Anne Rice
Daring Do and The Lusty Dragon Mai- Wait... That’s a reference to the in game porn book in the game The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, the Lusty Argonian Maid!!!
Why is it in a fanfic based on a show about ponies!?
AND WHY IS FLUTTERSHY READING IT!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
If Twilight finds out... ooo boy, FLuttershy what have you done?
On the other hand: BURN THAT BOOK

"There and Back Again" is quite obviously a reference to Bilbo Baggins name for The Hobbit "There and Back Again: A Hobbit's Tale." Don't know why you would have thought it was referencing the song when all the others were books.

What is Stockholme Syndrome?
Oh, Flutters, pick that one. That fic is the start of a delightful series, full of intrigue and romance!
This one’s not bad so far, either. Definitely lots of mystery around just what kind of character this incarnation of Sombra really is. Though a “trigger warning: rape” in the description might have been appreciated by a few readers over the years... this isn’t meant as a complaint, since it was completely expected after the setup, and most assuredly in character even if I am correct in my sense that this Sombra does look like he’s going to follow the “product of his time” trope rather than “cartoonishly villainous villain” path in his reign over this story, but still rape by modern standards.
Heh, this Darkness Rising book she actually reads has all the hallmarks of a propaganda hit piece. I wonder how much of it is actually true, and how much written at Celestia’s direction.
Good move, Flutters. I won’t tell Twilight if you don’t.
