This story is a sequel to Minding the Gap

Life takes its course, and after telling the world of their relationship, it was only natural for them to take the next step. Now they find themselves married, with a lot of new things to worry about, not the least of which are their children.

This story was a challenge to myself to write in a different way from how I would usually approach a story, and as such it will not be written in chronological order. It will, however, be rearranged into chronological order once it is complete.

This chapter, I like it! Another!

The cuteness intensifies

6432132 me liketh this chapter, give me another.

Why do everyone ship these two!? It's creepy!!

6432381 Well, let's see.

1. Teacher-student relationships have been around since there were teachers and students to have them.

2. Celestia is a timeless, beautiful, intelligent quite literal goddess. If you lived around Aphrodite, would you not crush on her?

6432406
It's a student teacher thing. I see them more as a daughter mother relationship rather than a... Er... Romantically involved relationship

WELP

Guess who can't read a new Twilestia story that's a sequel to one she really liked?

*angrily grumbles about judging*

6432431 That is one way their relationship could go, yes. Though Twilight does have a mother already. That's the beauty of fiction, your viewpoints of the mother daughter type relationship can happen in other stories.

6432432

:fluttershysad: /soothe. "There, there. It will be okay."

Very cute, I wonder what the timeline is like, If they are on their honeymoon now, then.. the children were born before the wedding? or in the period in between wedding and the honeymoon? or maybe the honey moon was postponed.

Curiously, what effect are you hoping for in writing this story out of order?

6433766

Mostly it's my own... obsession? With chronological writing. I've been told several times, that writing ahead to 'that one scene' and then going back to connect the dots could help me tear down a few writer's blocks, but up till now, I've not been able to do that.

Besides that, I thought it would be fun to challenge myself, so there's that.

6432431 I... Actually agree on this one. I just don't read stories shipping them; easier for everyone :unsuresweetie:

6434003 Sensible attitude to take.

Oh this is nice.

I have a soft spot in my heart for everything domestic. Will be keeping up with this.

Funny how both these mares are incredibly hot when worked up isn't it?:trollestia:

6434832 Fiery personalities. :rainbowlaugh:

6433787 Fair enough and good luck!

6433787

I found that problem myself - a legancy of a quarter-century (and counting) of DMing, where you are sort of obliged largely to start at the beginning and work up to get the combat balances right.

I managed to work around it my most recent story (which I might never have gotten down to write if I hadn't) by sitting down and starting with the scenes I already had in my head and then going back to fill the blanks in. I surprisingly found that worked better for me than I thought it would.

6432431

So? They're not blood-related. If you see them as in a mother-daughter relationship, then in order for their intimate relationship to get off the ground it typically needs to evolve past that into a romantic partner relationship. In which case they no longer have the mother-daughter relationship and everything else is only in your head and is thus your problem and we don't want to know about it.

Twilestia is an iron-clad ship, it can be approached from many different viewpoints! If you choose one viewpoint that seems creepy to you, how is Twilestia or anyone else to blame?

6437095
A LOT of people recently have been telling me how wrong I am here. Whenever I get messages like yours, I just sorta shrug and think that everyone has their own opinion. I'm not gonna argue against this, I just have my own viewpoint on it.

6437253

I'm going to give you a little advice that helped me. If you have a diametrically opposed opinion to the very VERY obvious nature and content of a story... don't read it. If you read it anyway, don't come down to the comments and give that opposing opinion to the content of the story. I shall make an analogy for you.

Say you go to the biggest sports bar in town, there for some beers. It's the big game night, and the town's home team is on the television and everyone's happy and cheering. Then you stand up and loudly proclaim that you hate that team and that they're stupid (thereby also insinuating anyone who likes them is stupid). Do you think everyone there is going to pat you on the back and respect your opinion, or be annoyed that you came to the main sports bar in the hometown of this team and then took a big dump all over them, offending everyone when all you had to do was go somewhere else or just not spout off an opinion that becomes offensive due to your contextual surroundings?

I mean, hey. I used to do the same thing! Then I stopped and realized that was a pretty stupid move for a pretty smart guy, and kicked myself for not applying my own logic sooner. If you have constructive criticism, give it. If you have an opinion on what's going on in the story, let's hear it. But just "ew this is gross this ship is nasty" in an unironic and demeaning manner, you're inviting an argument or trying to offend the people who like the content.

6437288
I never stated that I thought this story or idea was stupid. I just merely gave my own thoughts on it. I never said I'm totally against this nor even criticized anyone who agrees with this. I'm open to all ideas, but not without my own thoughts on a matter.

6437346
Fine. I'll keep my maw shut on this one seeing as how most people (or at least 15 people) now hate me for what I said.

You win

6437353

It's not about winning. It was about showing you why you pissed people off and how to avoid that in the future. Anyway, we're done here.

I now return everyone to their enjoyment of the story!

6437353 Hate is a strong word. Mild annoyance is much more likely.

6437518
Very well. Enjoy it as you will
6437567
And I'm sorry if I caused this "mild annoyance"

6437852 Nah, you were fine. I mod for the Straight Shipping group. Compared to some of them, you're perfectly reasonable and sane.

6438700
Well, that's good to know...

6438712 The Moral of this story is that there is a time and place to share one's opinion. Specifically if the opinion in question is unpopular.

6438700

I both feel your pain and do NOT envy you.

Good Story.
That last line was worth an up vote all by itself. :trollestia:

This is as fantastic as expected. I can't wait for more. :raritystarry:

The rested their heads on each others shoulders, and Celestia gave herself over to the long overdue sleep.

*They

"Celestia? What happened to the sheets?"

I imagine Celestia's face looked a bit like this:

Was that an Animal Farm reference?
If so, good job

6481070
It was. I'm sorry. I couldn't resist. :twilightsheepish:

Animal Farm, lol. I Dunno, the pigs on AJ's farm didn't look more equal than anyone. Plus, the Apples are running a sheep slavery ring!!! (or was it cows?) :ajsmug:

“Good.” Momma Twilight’s horn lit up, and two cookies floated over from an entirely different shelf than the one Dawn had jumped on. “Just remember,” she said when she had their full attention, “If you try again, I’ll know.”

Great refernece! And great little chapter. Absolutely adorable.

6481330
Nah, the cows are all new-agers who don't believe in silly things like roofs.

6481075 Don't worry about it. I actually got a giggle out of that.

The Animal Farm Reference had me grinning like a loon. Nice chapter, too.

Indeed, 5 is greater than 5.

...this may explain why I lost my student's license.

Some animals are equal than others. I saw that

Ah, cute.

Are the kids alicorns, though? It doesn't come up, and my mental image of them hits a roadblock when I try to decide on how many wings are in the picture.
