...You know, what kind of toys would a changeling have? I mean, I presume he's cut off from any hive thing. He would be a more predatory pony, I think - but not actively malicious. Or maybe that's me with sleep deprivation.

Well, the attachment grew awful fast - but I can see some aspect of why - given she has something she's wanted but not had a chance to have before.
You know, I'm sure some would complain about the pacing (which IS hurting the story) but, you know what?
I still like it.
Did you know that new grey/black striped bar for the uphoof/downhoof thingy wiggles if you look at it with one eye and are really tired?

Upon completing this piece, my first reaction is "how realistic". This story has displayed realism on a few different categories: such as Psychology, Grieving, Emotional reaction, etc. The character Mindy has show to be a proper representation of the human emotions of Kindness, Generosity, Empathy, and Sympathy. She cares for Alleyway's well being, especially towards the end of the piece(I don't want to spoil the ending). But in the end, Mindy gets what she wanted. Mindy's reaction to the situations were appropriate and how she acted, as well as her emotions were acceptable and well received.
I found Black Lace being the necessary opposite. She was the representation human Fear, Paranoia, Hate, and Intolerance. Her underhanded tactic(again not spoiling more than that) was the primary cause of the later "Sad" and "Dark" theme.
My overall opinion of the work is that it was well written and the writer should feel quite proud of this piece. I am quite thankful to have this piece in my contest
I kinda want to know what would have happened if he was able to go to the diner with mindy. hmmmmmm.
I can't believe this story does not have more prominence than it does, it is pretty good and it has a nice bittersweet ending that you don't always get with stories.
