Shadows cannot exist with light. Where there is light, shadows spawn. There must be balance. And that burden belongs to me...

Owlicious has had to tolerate Spike's immaturity for long enough. Now he finally decides to confront Twilight on the dragon's actions. However, he doesn't find sympathy from Twilight. Instead, he finds that it's his turn to be the student.

Uhh... I'm not sure i I understood everything, but I'll try to answer the best I can.

Author's CMC rant? I added the CMC to get the ball rolling and end with a gag...
Unless you meant the bit where Owlicious dissects their talents. :twilightblush: Guilty as charged.

For the purposes of this story, I assumed Twilight continued to do research on dragons and found an inconclusive amount of material. True, according to the show Twilight doesn't know any of this... but she's proven to miss obvious sources of information at times.
Pinkie: It was under E!:pinkiehappy:
So... it's not too much of a stretch to assume that after so much time she managed to dig up a little more info. Nice catch though!

6378970 Yeah like I said very very minor nickpick. Plus for all we knew dragons have thier own cities and such.

So I thought I'd check this out. Interesting that you're writing for all of the pets, but I bet that it isn't as easy as writing for gummy was, since we don't actually know for sure what sort of things go through their head. The closest we've come to seeing what Owlicious is thinking is probably the episode where Spike finds the tome that he gives to Rarity and she turns all of Ponyville 'fabulous'. That episode gave me the feeling that he does think that Spike has a lot of growing up to do, but I don't think he expects Spike to actually do so any time soon. It felt like he was an older brother who grudgingly looks after a younger brother to me.
I always imagined that Owlicious has the same voice and personality as Archimedes the owl from the Disney movie 'The Sword in the Stone'. But that's just me.

I remember that movie!

Sorry, it took me so long to get back to your comment. College kills.

Inspiration Manifestation was a major influence on this story. (Listen to the wise owl, Spike!)

Yeah, Owlicious technically is Spike's adopted older brother (in terms of maturity if not literal age), so that dynamic is interesting.

Even though Owlicious is presented very mature in the show (he may be more mature than Twilight), writing a story of a completely mature Owlicious is boring. So instead I went for a mature-but-still-needs-to-grow angle. It is a bit of a stretch from the portrayal of Owlicious in the show, but what sane creature would really deal with Spike's antics for so long without getting annoyed?
:facehoof:
Oh yeah, her.

Whatever, it's fanfiction. So stretching the character is part of the job.

Thanks for the comment! I love when people give their opinions!
