6146049 It isn't really a cliffhanger so much as a dropped ending. The reason for this is the fact that the story doesn't really need the ending, because the story is only trying to prove a point and make the reader think about it. I could have easily made a 'proper' ending for it, but I thought ending it how I did would allow the reader to reach for more profound thoughts. Sadly most of the people who would read this probably won't understand what I tried to do with the ending...

6146107 most people just dont like reading a story only to find theres really no ending i just dont care would have liked to see a proper ending but like you said its not really needed
7851588 The whole purpose of the fic was to make the reader think. It ended exactly as it was intended. I know a fic that has no ending generally is bad, but I felt that this fic was better without one. It makes it more likely to inspire thought and make the reader question the true nature of things.
Bottom line is that when a fic is about making the reader think about an idea or concept, the writing should work in favor of that; but if the fic is just telling a story, it should have a proper ending.
