Yep, events of this story.
This was absolutely brilliant. Not only was the writing good (in my opinion), but I got hooked in from the beginning, and thought that the narrator was a human at first, and they found an even more war-like race. Then I wondered 'when did the humans meet the ponies?' Then, when the narrator mentions 'turning them into ponies,' I realized that this is from a pony's POV instead of a human. Then, while I was shocked, by both the 'plot-twist' and the 'inhumane' actions of the ponies, I kept on reading. But absolutely great story writer.
Also, I always like seeing humanity unite under a single banner. Whether it's fighting aliens or something else, I just love seeing the capabilities of a fully united Earth.
Also, the pony's actions are despicable.
But great story.
trying to write my own take on Human Equine war, only the ponies succeeds and keep converting planet after planet, using the Multiverse theory here, until they get to mine, where whole armies are trained in days, and it's impossibly huge numbers of ponies, versus Video Game trained G.E.A.R. soldiers, with some guns and armor from various games. Bring it sunbutt.

future tech basically, a company called NERVGEAR creatse a VR headset and entire worlds, five years later, surpassing their earlier achievement, their create a device that works in reverse, taking the actions you do in the game, and convert them into muscle memory. efficiently creating a way to convert gamers into knights, pilots, tank operators, soldiers, anything really. then the ponies attack, GEAR creates a PMC, not a Para-Military Company but a Pony Murdering Corp. mainly because the worlds nations find that the trade off for instinct based soldiers are a lack of discipline that you would find in a regular army. so GEAR was formed, the Gamers Elite Assault Regimen Hey gamers still got style, and they start fighting to reclaim the lost countries, before fighting several universes that the ponies have already converted, Eventually we'll see if gamers are better then the best Celestia can throw at them.

Some of us would want to simply unconvert all those who had been ponyfied and then force all Equetrian influence back out through the portal and then stop after we had kept them out on their side of the portal. Others would want to take the fight to them in the way shown here. Either way there'd be some form of bloodshed that we would bring down.

I'm guessing we humans decided "what if there are more monsters out on other worlds?" and we decided to go monster hunting throughout the cosmos and many universes. To walk the Blind Eternities destroying all that is evil so that which is good may flourish.
To the ponies:
Land = survival
Supplies = survival
Territory = survival
gods = the best way to survive and therefore not killing people who resist it means that those people will cause countless others to suffer and die who would have otherwise been saved (lives or souls). At least, that is what was/is believed.
It is ironic that the only wars fought for something other than survival are because the fighters believe they are saving or protecting either the people they are killing or many more than would die in the war.
