I'm older than your average brony, but then I've always enjoyed cartoons. I'm an experienced reviewer, EqD pre-reader, and occasional author.

A party for Rainbow Dash with plenty of strong cider? Count Gilda in! Except Dash is probably the only pony who wants her there.

She shouldn't have come.

A combination of two minifics, "A Trick of Memory," which placed 10th of 27 in the /fic/ write-off "For Old Times' Sake," and "Gilda Has the Floor," which placed 14th of 101 in the /fic/ write-off "The Best Medicine."

Nice bite size melancholic story.

Wow this was...well, surprising. I love the concept and the emotion is raw, hitting right at the heartstrings. The reveal as Gilda was giving her speech was both shocking yet making sense. The friendship development with Gilda and Pinkie was unexpected, but played out so naturally and fit just right in the narrative. Loved this fic!

I really like the ending. For some reason I actually see Pinkie and Gilda becoming friends if and when Gilda figures out what is really important when it come to having friends.

I actually wish we had more of these type of stories with Gild, Pinkie, and Dash. They are an interesting group to read.

Daw, this was heartwarming. Great take in an older Gilda and Pinkie.

Sad but beautiful.

The traded insults are great. :D I don't remember either part of this, and I only missed reading one of those writeoffs. <.< Huh.

This is great. Sad, but not forced, and it flows naturally. Gilda is both interesting and underused, so it's nice to see something from her point of view.

Enjoy the feature box!

I hadn't read "A Trick of Memory" before, so I was going into this one half-blind. It's a fascinating end of an implied journey. I'm kind of sad we didn't get to see more of Gilda's... Well, not a redemption. Pinkie has it right; it's more of a maturation. And it's no great surprise that given that greater maturity, Gilda comes to appreciate Pinkie, especially when the pink horse is just about the only one in town who's willing to give her the time of day sometimes.

A good funeral fic in that it doesn't dwell on the death, but instead looks to a future without someone the characters cared for. They move on, remembering Dash without wailing and rending garments. That wouldn't be in character for either Pinkie or Gilda, even if they had garments. Thank you for it.

What nopony knows is the reason Dashie is dead... but Pinkie knows... and so does her basement. :pinkiecrazy:

5901186 Too soon man. She's still digesting the whole thing.

I loved this one during the Write Off, and I think you've definitely improved it here. I did really like the whole not-mentioning the funeral part the first time around, though, but the new part with Pinkie definitely strengthens the vibe you were going for (if you were going for the tip-toeing around crushing despair -- that gets only marginally easier to bear with however much time has passed here -- vibe, ).

Also, that description fits this perfectly.

This was fantastic. I didn't know the second story till now. They fit together very nicely.
Bet it would make a lot of people happy if there was even more...

I loved it! great story , set a sad tone but was still enjoyable even though it really took me in when i found out that it was dash's funeral :fluttercry:but the story was fantastic i think just a little bit more story would help maybe

Can't believe I didn't make a connection between these two stories before. Great job, Pasco!

Who were the winners of the write offs, and where can I read them?

The easiest way is to go to the write-off site and click on "Archive" from the "Events" menu at the upper left. For every event, there's a "Results" link that will show you all the entries and where they finished.

“Pinkie, why was I such a jerk back then?”

Because she went out of her way to annoy you inccesantly until you lost your shit in front if all of Ponyvilke, ruining a childhood friendship?

I reviewed this story!

I mean to say Dashie's blood is >Aunt Jemima, >Mrs. Buttersworth, >Log Cabin , hell, it's >Smuckers. :pinkiecrazy:

9637876 I think this might go for all pony blood.

Unicorn blood also has glitter.
